I think the secret sauce that makes Where Are We work is that Twilight actually gives a damn. We've seen her nurture her ungrateful daughter, accommodate her idiot friends, and now pitch a charity plan. Her misanthropy was funny in MAS, but it's nice to see this matured version of her motivated by some actual virtues. If nothing else, it allows for new jokes.
on a lesser note, its also nice to see Rarity's racism has mellowed out with time, being capable of feeling proud of a gryphon, and even willing to spend (a few) cents on them.
The fact that Celestia sent Twilight out into the world to learn friendship, a concept not teachable in a school, and then Twilight establishes a school for friendship is such an advanced meta narrative it is impossible that the neo-writers did it intentionally.
One of reasons why school of friendship was a dumb idea. It's not the same as regular school or school for gifted unicorns about learning magic. You can't learn that organically in school
One thing I noticed about the "School of Friendship" is that most of the kids are reletives of leaders and as you said, "wealthy folk with pull". Twilight's "School of Friendship" is technically a "School of Diplomacy and Influence" training Equestria's future diplomats, and wealthy ponies (through nepotism), how to basically, "Win friends and Influence People". Twilight's dream has kind of... turned against the entire concept she originally had. And on top of that... there's so many signs that the school is essentially a day-care center for the wealthy elites to dump their kids off.
You mean four of the characters from the school that we followed. Actually, I mean, maybe two of them. The only maybe two have explicite connections to power.
They did teach about the real meaning of friendship, i.e. how to build sincere friendship, not just how to influence and manipulate -people- creatures. Though I must admit they did spend much more time on methods rather than meanings, and their teaching approaches were questionable at best. Being a day-care center for elites isn't all that bad, if you also get to change those kids' view points and teach them to be decent ponies at the same time, especially when they're gonna become the future leader class of the country. It's all about execution.
@@Persun_McPersonson Nobody says they _only_ taught elites. Twilight most likely made sure they reserve spots for students from all backgrounds, although elites certainly take a big portion of that, if for nothing else just their abilities to move and live far away from home without having to worry about finance. If Twilight wants to improve society as fast as possible, she would like to have more elites enrolling in her school anyway, as they're most likely those who'd end up in the government or have strong influence on society. If you want to change the country, whom would you prefer teaching to be decent people, future bakers or future politicians?

I would say a charity building roads for animals that can fly is a good allegory for how charities support developing nations in the real world, but its pretty much directly comparable to how a lot of real world charity initiatives do (giving computers to kids who don't have electricity, for example)
Oh my God I didn't even think about that. I was more focused on the fact that the roads would probably quickly fall into disarray because no one would be around to maintain them.

Rarity owns a private financtial monopoly aimed to control small "banana" republics (countries controlled or disrupted by mercenaries, organized crime or even state terrorism, with economies based on commodities and low end industrial production) with her corporate social responsability model. She doesn't mind Big Cake lobbying and seizing a republic's government promoting liberal alike policies because she knows she can bribe both as well, and in this case, griffons are known for being selfish and individualistic, paired to a weak society. However, as soon as she's told they're truely communists she panics, knowing the management of private and foreign investments could be made public to limit their influence, and the griffons would realize they don't need charity from the oligarchs to have the quality life they're already paying for with their work, giving rise to a nationalist and cooperative culture. I love your dialogue writing so much, honestly I can see you writing a killer novel if you had the time for it
I love that the Griffinstone episode has been bothering Greg for literal years. I remember the peel-off episode and maybe even a personal time about it
I can not express how much I've missed the end credits yap shesh. Truly, I feel like a teen again
I bet Rarity's tune would change if Twilight pitched that Griffonstone has acres and acres of untouched, untapped crude oil reserves.
Broooo, please bring the series back, everyone still loves it
The idea of them trying (and possibly failing because theyre working from a pony instead of girffon standpoint) to fix griffonstone is hilarious
I missed this series so much! Thank you for reviving it 😭❤
I literally never thought of that episode as about helping Griffonstone.
I always viewed that episode as about helping *Gilda*.
It's a friendship problem solving map, not a city problem solving map.
Endlessly happy to see these girls still exist
Every time you post more of these it makes my day a little brighter
Dude between this and another code ment episode out this year, this is really raising my spirits
If you believe in yourself and with a tiny pinch of magic, all your dreams can come true
I've never once watched the show but this is great.
THIS IS AWESOME !!!!!!! I give this video 5 out of 5 STARS :)
how very "generous" of rarity
I just don't know which is funnier, the main episode or the credits XD They are just both so funny XD
Miss you guys... good luck out there everypony
Commenting for the algorithm. We are so back.
Glad to see Rarity is so successful.
Thank goodness you still make these yay
I'm so happy these are back. Even with then being short, I love seeing your versions of the characters again.
That was amazing. Haven't seen one of these in years; it was wonderful. :)
This is Bojack Horseman level comedy.
