- Making our way to Cebu’s Osmena Peak was not an easy one 😱. However, after making it there we went CLIMBING CEBU’S HIGHEST PEAKS 🇵🇭 and we did not expect this, aka the views 😍!
Anyone that has been to Osmena peak (also known as the highest peak in Cebu) or any of the other peaks in the range know it is not an easy one. So if you are planning on going anytime soon look below this description and we’ll give you much better directions than you will find on Google!! In fact, everyone told us Google would lead us astray and they were absolutely right 🤣
Anyway, back to our adventures…we made our way to Badian, Cebu (which is where Osmena Peak is) from Moalboal and it was quite the trek. In fact it was about 2 hours and the last hour is strictly UP the mountain and was about as bumpy as the feeling we all had watching Chris Rock get slapped across the face by Will Smith last weekend at the Oscars 👀. But the views not only made it worth it but we’d do it all over again! Not to mention we met some really amazing locals there that made us feel right at home and started our adventure off in the best was possible ❤️🤗. I was born and raised in Manila. The first time I’ve been to Cebu and saw those ‘jagged’-topped mountains just from the highway below, I was mesmerized right away. Those mountains looked surreal.
They are truly incredible right Shih? 😱. Looks like something out of a fantasy movie 😍. Were you able to climb any of the peaks while in Cebu??

The hike was worth it, it's moments like this that makes you happy waking up everyday and makes traveling exciting. Travel plans may not always go as planned but once you get to where you're going, you just can't help but and smile and be mesmerized and say it was worth it.
Pau, you are absolutely right! The hike was worth it once you get to the top and see exactly what you came for! This is why we always try to remember that no matter how difficult something may be that we set out on, or no matter if we have an unexpected bump that gets in our way on the way...it's the end goal that always prevails and makes it worth it! This was no different and even more amazing (to us) in person that we had imagined ❤️. So thank you for that and reminding us, and everyone else who reads this, of that!

Osmeña Peak and Casino Peak are parts of a triumvirates of prominent peaks of Badian Mountain Range. The other one is Kandungaw Peak which lies on the southern fringes of the range or about 9 kilometers due south of Ossmena Peak. The trailhead to Kandungaw Peak is just a few minutes drive from Ossmena Peak. To reach the peak from the main road, one needs to trek about 15-20 minutes of normal pace. Kandungaw Peak has a very different view from the two peaks but not the less breathtaking. It lies on the edge of the natural border between Dalaguete and Badian and has twin peaks actually with one peak whose sides plummets vertically down to the base offering you a mind-blowing view of the deep valley to the east and the jagged peaks of the mountain range to the west with Badian island and Negros island seen at the distance.

Kandungaw Peak sounds incredible and exactly what we would love to see ourselves. Thank you for that! Do you live near there?
@@proudlynomadic No, I don't live near Kandungaw. I live on Mactan Island, just across the Cebu mainland, where the airport is. I finally climbed Kandungaw in December 2020 after I saw a few videos from both local and foreign tourists posted on YT and I was impressed. The ascent to the peak is very steep at the last 4th part but it has concrete steps to allow all types of physicality and ages to climb the leak. Be sure to bring 1 liter of water with you in case the weather becomes too hot. But the trek will be enjoyable as you pass through patches of vegetable farms, cornfields, few houses, local farmers, and lush greenery. While you take a breather every now and then, the view behind you is already mesmerizing. The last 30 meters of the concrete stairway is the most dramatic during the ascent as another spectacular view awaits you as soon as you hit the rim. But I don't want to spoil your expectations of Kandungaw Peak. Just go and find for yourself.

Wow, what an amazing location. I've never seen anything like those peaks. The only thing is stability under foot looks a tad dangerous. Good on you guys . Those drone shots are breath taking. What made me happiest? You guys becoming celebrities with the locals and this channel kicking butt. Wow the jump in numbers - awesome. I had to take a second look. Word of mouth pays off big time . Already looking forward to the next one. I could overdose on them daily if that was at all possible but I know how time consuming editing is. Have fun guys :)
This peak is best during sunset, did you guys do falls hunting. There's a lot along the way.
We did not do falls hunting but we planned on it. However, life happened and plans had to change but when we make our way back that way (which we absolutely will) we're going to check that and other ones out!

Can you imagine you are up there on top of the hill watching the SUNRISE or SUNSET?
Not going to lie, we planned on going to the top for sunrise but well, we had to change plans a little 🤣. Since you're new to our channel (and we're happy to have you here by the way so hope to see you more and more!!) I will let you know this...WE NEVER HAVE GOOD LUCK getting to sunrises or sunsets 🤣😱 so that also played a part. Though, that was in Thailand so we'll try to while here in the Philippines for certain! So send us all your good luck energy 🤣🤗❤️
@@proudlynomadic Well the best sunsets you will breathtakingly experience to see by just sitting or laying on the sand are in BORACAY ISLAND in Kalibo Aklan or for a much nearer view via Paraw sailing, every day you will see sunset different from other day you have seen it..
@Will and Jose... I suggest you check out Mt. Mauyog near Cebu City when you have a chance. Though the limestone karst is located within the bounds of Balamban (town that borders Cebu City to the west), it can easily be accessed from Cebu City through the scenic transcentral highway (or popularly called TCH) that passes through the lush mountains of Cebu City affording you scenic drive all throughout amidst the lush tropical greenery on both sides of the highway. Along this scenic mountain highway are few dozens chic cafes, botanical gardens, adventure parks/cafes, themed cafes, casual restaurants, viewing points, camp grounds, hiking trails, etc. Mt. Mauyog is a unique rock formation or monolith that sticks out from the lush mountain peak giving you an unobstructed panoramic view of the mountains around you. It is about 40 kilometers from Cebu IT Park or 39 kilometers from JY Square, the jump-off point for some tourists who have no private vehicles to tour the mountain attractions. You may just hire a chauffeured private car from car rentals for a day so that you can visit other interesting attractions along this whole stretch of mountain highway such as botanical gardens, adventure parks (West 35 Cafe, Mountain View Nature's Park) casual eateries with amazing views (West 35 Cafe, Balay sa Busay, ChixBoy BBQ, Tops of Cebu) and themed/chic cafes (Charlie's Cup, Sachico's Little Kyoto, Le Jardin Lakeview Cafe, La Vie in the Sky). I would recommend more Le Jardin Lakeview & Garden Cafe if you want to dine or just have a coffee for their well-built botanical terraced garden (with minimal fee) plus the iconic view of the distant lake. Their garden has a separate admission fee (lately it's P100) because it's too big and really amazing it's all worth it. I also suggest you try the Mountain View Nature's Park. It is a perfect mountain retreat with several viewing platforms, restaurants/cafes, obstacle course, karaoke bar, large family pool and infinity pool (looking out to the city and mountains below), camping grounds, hiking trails, Way of the Cross (for Catholic faithfuls during Lenten Season) and cabanas for overnight stay.

The first and last time I “conquered” Osmena peak was way back in summer 1973 on a trip to Mantalongon, the summer getaway of Cebu and located just below those rugged peaks. I still have vivid memories of those days and likened the town to Shangrila, a magical place. Thanks for rekindling my interest in reuniting with the place on my next trip to the Philippines.

BATANES PROVINCE is a million times more enchanting and breathtaking than Osmena Peak, trust me hehehe It is the northernmost tip province way up there and it's a bit of a challenge going up there but the good news is that there is a plane that goes there once a day.

@@proudlynomadic I'm not first but early 😂😂😂, if you love hiking guys visit Cordillera region, there you can see the old heritage site of Banaue rice terraces, so if you plan to visit Batanes since they're both up north visit Cordillera and Vigan (Jose will like the Spanish vibe there).

@Sporty Guy....Ha ha. Be careful of what you promise to any person as they will take it seriously or literally. I agree that Batanes is beautiful but saying it is 'million times more beautiful than Osmena Peak' will certainly put pressure on you from these people because remember that 'beauty is in the eyes of the beholder'. Take note also that Batanes is a very remote area that traveling to and from there can be very challenging with only one option, by air. Ypu also need to warn visitors that Batanes is one of the less developed places and modern conveniences are very limited and can be very expensive especially the accommodations, food and transportation. Yes, Batanes is beautiful but certainly not 'million times more beautiful' than Osmeña Peak. You might disappoint them big-time and might ruin the reputation of your place if it doesn't live up to what you've promised to them it is.
God's gracious hand made that beautiful and awesome nature. His mighty hand made Philippines unique even the people are kind and hospitable. Thank you Lord.

Thanks so much for sharing! I've never been to those peaks but it's within the jurisdiction of my mom's family's hometown, which is Dalaguete, Cebu. (Our ancestral house is towards the seaside area, and whenever I used to visit as a kid I used to hear stories of the diwata fairy-folk or magical deities, witches, wizards, monsters, healers, and mysterious legends of people like Maria Cacao who lived a thousand years and has a barge of pure gold, who had her palace hidden in the mountains behind the main city). I used to be simultaneously in wonder and fear when I was a child haha. Even the old balete tree which Dalaguete was named after, the Dalakit tree by Obong spring, was meant to be a place where the fairies used to live. The Visayas islands are full of these ancient legends of fairies, deities, wizards and hermit healers in these spots, and it makes these places feel more enchanted which adds to its beauty. Wow! Just wow! My jaw just dropped six notches on this one. Each of these vids you guys do is like a gem of ride in itself. Feels like I am behind the lens and feeling that wind blowing while taking in the surreal view from that vantage point so now I just need a hang glider to jump that ledge off on and see you both down there in 30 min! Not a single semblance. Bohol's Chocolate Hills are mounds scattered along plains of Bohol. These ones are jagged peaks atop Cebu's highest mountain range. Bohol's Chocolate Hills were so named for their brown appearance during summer when grasses die. But Badian mountain jagged peaks stay green all year round due to the high elevation where Alpine vegetation dominate at this altitude. This Badian mountain range can be likened instead to Yangshou County's karst peaks located in Guilin City, China.

You must also visit the northern Philippines...like 100 islands in Pangasinan , Vigan ,Batanes Baguio , mount pinatubo to name a few but there's so much to explore in the Philippines

I've been to mountaintops too but this one is unique because of those jagged hills - almost like Bohol's Chocolate Hills but just more irregular and packed, which gives it it's own beauty. Check out Tops in Cebu City. It’s not 360 view but the view of the city is breathtaking from there. It’s my favorite place in the city. I always go there whenever I’m in town. Usually around sunset. Preferably with some pizza and beer.
