Very cool project, keep us posted. Had a neighbor back in '88 or '89 put a 7720 engine in a 1966 4020 , it was a real beast but he was always buying equipment out of the scrap yards and salvage rows to play with.
About a year ago there’s another video to get to the rear end. Took a break till this weekend then this is where we’re at hope to get some better video of its progress but didn’t have the camera. I think it will hold for what it’s going to do. Ya just can’t weight it like a 300hp tractor
@@andrewssoundsofthepast110 The stock transmission holds up pretty well until you get enough power to run faster than 7th gear. I made new gears and shafts for my buddys 4010 and the gears are all faster than the original road gear.
There is a guy who builds kits to convert a 3010/4010, 3020/4020 gas tractor from carburated to electronic fuel injection, using computer and components from GM. He says 20% more power on 20% less gas.
I believe I saw this guy at classic green. I wasn’t very impressed by his conversation. for the money it should have looked more professionally done. But then again it could be a different guy
I have a 4010 lp I just bought about a month ago did not realize how much of a pain in the butt it would be to to fill it with the local propane people I would like to convert it to a gas do you know how hard that would be and what I would need?
You might be better off finding someone to trade tractors. Those are getting scarce. I think all you really need is a tank and switch the lpg carb off and converter for a gas set up then fuel lines probably a hood to clean it up
Love the rat rod/sleeper idea. Keep us posted. Love to watch a good series.

Hopefully we can keep it cool enough to farm with. Mostly pull a plow and disk then tractor pulls
The 4010 in work clothes!
Got quite a ways into this project before you filmed. My assumption will be trying to keep the rear end together with that boost in horses.

I have a stock 4020. We run 18.4 -38s on it. The other 2 have 18.4 -34s
We just put 20.8-34s on the tractor that replaced this one’s. We really like them

It’s a going to be a”4310” lol.
A lot of folks buying 4020’s are converting to 38” rims
So maybe you can get 34’ rims you want
I was thinking 4410 haha. I need to find the tires first
