    Really enjoyed listening to your story, your timeline. I’m a home diyer and sorting out our old victorian locks and windows and doors 😅

    A good hint for old wooden doors thar stick. It's most of the time the hinges are worn. If you look at the knuckles of the hinges you may notice they are staggered by only 1/2mm which is enough to cause the door to stick.

    It's a shame we don't have locks like this in Brazil, it would be fantastic to use a tool as fantastic as this to decode such an interesting lock, excellent video 🤩🤩

    Interesting listening to your journey. Scary taking the plunge but sometimes it opens new doors (pun intended). 😂
    Cheers Andy.

    I went on the Matrix course in 2013. Looking back it was a very odd experience, and yes I bought a Dino EPG, the one I used on the course 😊

    Thanks again Andy for another interesting video, nice to see you trying out a new tool. I have only started my wannabe locksmith journey recently and got a small variety of tools including some genuine Lishi and Lyshi style tools, been practicing on some car locks ive bought and some barrel locks. but Ive been watching your very interesting videos for some time, and Yes subscribed some time ago :-). shame about the courses but i do understand your decision, the shadowing 3 and 5 days sounds very interesting to see on the job. will be getting in touch about that mate, keep the vids coming, really enjoy them mate 👍

    It was great to hear your story mate it gives me hope for the future as I'm a carpenter too with a passion for locksmithing lucky for me the current job I'm at gives me around 50% locksmith work so am gradually building up knowledge and skills,
    I have recently got my ingersoll pick and wondered why I wasn't getting anywhere with it then saw gavs video and realised I had a Chinese version 😂 so will keep an eye out for a real one on ebay 👍

    • @brighton_locksmith
      @brighton_locksmith  10 месяцев назад +1

      Ah mate! I got to a point that I wasn’t enjoying the carpentry anymore so it was perfect timing for me to give up. That’s good that you get locksmith work too though 👌🏼
      Yes, those Chinese Ingersoll locks are horrible. You’ll find picking a genuine Ingersoll a breeze 😊

    I'm a bit confused, you strongly advised against picking clockwise then proceeded to pick clockwise or did the camera reverse it?

    • @brighton_locksmith
      @brighton_locksmith  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Conrad.
      I don’t strongly advise against picking clockwise! I say that it’s easier to pick it in the clockwise direction but that would be the wrong direction to open the lock, so you would pick the lock in the clockwise direction then plug spin the cylinder in the anti clockwise direction to open the lock.
      Thanks for watching

    I think lockdown changed many people's lives for the better surprisingly. For me it was working from home when the company always denied it before. Good you can chop and change like stopping your beginners course as not suited to you. Shadowing course sounds great and something I would have signed up for but decided to retire early and renovate a house. Nice to see your ugly mug (you said that not me) on a weekly basis. You are excellent at your job and can't believe 51% can't be bothered to subscribe. It doesn't cost anything.

    Ingersoll stopped putting their name on their locks over 10 years ago!
    not sure how you can tell if ones a genuine Ingersoll or a copy!

    • @brighton_locksmith
      @brighton_locksmith  10 месяцев назад +1

      I’m hoping that the ones that feel horrible and graunchy are the copies! But I guess at a door we may not know until we try and pick it!
