Being excited about books is one of my favorite feelings! I too, am trying to go through my tbr but mine is actually my kindle unlimited list. Several books I got for seasonal reading last year and then never got to read 😅 I am elbows deep in my garden at the moment for alternative activities. I have immense pest pressure I am trying to mitigate but I feel I started too late (being a beginner gardener). Even with insect covers I feel the bugs are already on the plants so why am I going to imprison them with their feast? Definitely a lesson learned for this particular garden set up. Now today I will be starting some fall seeds in trays and maybe even break out my diamond dot painting. ✨️ a cozy relaxing weekend after a tedious work week. Also, I was inspired by your beautiful reading journal scrapbooking and decided to start one of my own! 😮❤ thank you for always sharing your designs and beautiful materials with us! 😍

Love the nice long video and the book haul! Yes, May definitely went by too fast. Here in the Southern California desert, it's our last chance for nice weather before it gets brutally hot. My yard went from beautiful greens and meadow flowers to brown, crispy weeds. 😐 Now I have to hustle to trim back the faded stuff before it becomes a fire hazard and it's too hot to work outside. But I don't feel like it. I've been more into fixing up the inside of the house, gardening with flowers and herbs on my deck, and ordering little perfume samples to find a new scent. 🌹

Yay, another cozy vlog! These always make my heart so happy and warm 🥺 I finished A Study In Drowning recently too, and I have such mixed feelings! I think a lot of it stems from the fact that I simply expected something else from the litle blurp on the back (which keeps happening to me - I'm starting to think either I don't have good reading comprehension or they simply lie in the blurps). I was expecting a gorgeous mansion, not a crumbling swampy house, which killed a lot of the excitement I had. Personally I was also quite confused with the world building, especially the first few pages I kept going "oh so it's like a fantasy world- oh, it isn't? Oh, so it's historical- wait they have cars?" might just be me, but it just felt a bit all over the place. I wasn't a big fan of the heroine at first, she was actually annoying me. In general the romance felt a bit rushed and forced, and they killed it with the love scene for me. Like you said, the first half was hard to get through. The second half was much easier and actually made me give the book a higher rating (was originally thinking of 2/5, gave it 3/5 in the end). What was surprising to me is the fact that the book deals with some HEAVY themes, and not just the "fantasy evil fairy king" themes, but real things. I did enjoy the haunting ambience, the unease it filled me with and the anxiety it gave me. Now I'm reading Stardust by Neil Gaiman and I'm struggling. This one is completely on me, the book is lovely, but it's just not my style. This book made me realize I'm not a fan of the fairytale storytelling 😅
haha yay! you’re so sweet 🥺🥺 i can relate to allll your points! it was definitely so messy, there wasn’t a linear narrative and the whole plot on the faerie king felt so out of place from the themes of the book 😅 the romance did feel rushed, but overall i thought the audiobook was what made me really enjoy the book! it felt like a lucid dream, with so many very random things happening all at once, but in a pretty and haunting type of way that was enchanting! you’re sooo right about the anxiety 😭 and i was cringing so hard at all the attention on effy. but i liked that the book stirred me and made me feel lots of things, from confusion to awe 😂 it took me a while to rate it, and i found myself still thinking about the characters and the story even days after finishing it, which led me to the 4 star rating rather than a 2-3 star rating (which would have been more technically accurate)! pretty insane how an audiobook can change the tone of a book. i don’t think i would have even finished it if i read it physically from the beginning 🥹 i’m the same with stardust!! similar thing happened and i switched to the audiobook and immediately fell in love. neil gaiman is a fantastic narrator!! i highly recommend it if you’re keen on giving stardust another go ✨✨

I only recently fell into the audiobook rabbit hole - I was getting a bit desperate, as my focus capacity has drastically diminished these past few months. Audiobooks allowed me to finish Pride and Prejudice, Sense ans Sensibility, The Secret Garden, Dune, Grapes of Wrath.... I delved into so many new genres and books I'd have NEVER thought I'd finsh or even like - AUDIOBOOKS !

as for Adrienne Young's books, i recommend picking up Fable first! I first read The Unmaking of June farrow though, which was really good as well!!

I only recently fell into the audiobook rabbit hole - I was getting a bit desperate, as my focus capacity has drastically diminished these past few months. Audiobooks allowed me to finish Pride and Prejudice, Sense ans Sensibility, The Secret Garden, Dune, Grapes of Wrath.... I delved into so many new genres and books I'd have NEVER thought I'd finsh or even like - AUDIOBOOKS !
