Medusa calling humans fickle reminds me of Dark Pit's lyric "I'll never be a pawn to a fickle Lord's plan." Makes me think about how many of the gods call humans selfish, but the gods are equally fickle. Medusa saying they ask things of them but ignore them when they're happy, but her and the other gods tearing innocent lives apart and saying they're right to do so is also selfish and uncaring.
To be honest, Dark Pit is essentially the truth that hides within Pit, a truth that he didn’t want to believe, but it is true, the gods with their foolish wars are creating pain and suffering for humanity.
And call it cliche, but I think Dark Pit is essentially the closest we get to, besides Magnus, to a Neutral Shin Megami Tensei protagonist in the Kid Icarus series, only siding with Pit when both of their lives are in jeopard, and practically playing Hades for a damn fiddle, as well as calling out all 4 of the main dieties over the course of the game. Not to mention he tries to have Pit think about who is truely free
the line "I'll build a garden where nothing can grow!" is such a nice touch, considering Medusa is as close as Kid Icarus's pantheon comes to having Persephone.
God seeing them use the animated trailers reminds of how much I would adore a Kid Icarus Uprising anime. The game might be known for comedy but that trailer in the background is a great reminder this game could still be serious when it needed to be. Plus, with the writing, memorable characters, great voice acting, music and humour, the ingredients are all laid out already. All you need to do is use them.

Oh this was a really powerul duet. I also like how this gives some light to the beef Palutena had with Medusa in the prior games. Their relationship is not merely a "Argh I'll stop you becauase you're evil!" They used to rule together until Palutena got tired of Medusa being so cruel towards humans. So yeah, "I'll stop you because you're evil", but it was due to Medusa's view on human behavior
I wish something like this was touched upon in the game, I even like the idea of Medusa actually being good at one point. You'd think that Palutena and Medusa being sisters would be a lot more personal and try to give a reason for their falling out but they treat Medusa like someone they just need to stop. ...Almost as if she was only brought back as a distraction, I hate how wasted Medusa is.
I really love how this turned out! Instead of being between Pit and Medusa/Corrupt Palutena it's the seemingly never ending conflict between the two godesses. Also holy crap I never heard Uprising give a performance like this! Great job to both singers!
Same here! I like how not only are they two sides of the same coin in this song, but they also share the piece between them (just like how they share the theme in the game). Kudos to the people behind the music, musicians and all!
I really hope Medusa comes back in another Kid Icarus game, she’s really the one who begins Pit’s Adventure in Uprising & the NES. I see her as the iconic villain in the series and I guess she’s one of my favorite versions of Medusa in general when involving Greek Mythology. (No offense to Hades)
Hell, this song made me realize this is the BEST version of Medusa I'd ever seen. Cursed by a god... who is her sister. For doing genuinely evil things... for emotionally valid reasons. The fact that she's got this much style to her is the icing on the cake. It's great.

This is fantastic! The broken, triplet feel (6/8 I think) for the majority of Medusa's lyrics fits so well while Palutena gets the more steady 4/4. I don't know, but the lyrics are on point and the signers, MY GOSH ARE SO GOOD! Thank you for quenching my love for Kid Icarus.

Absolutely love the chorus, when Palutena and Medusa sing together and when Palutena faces her about how her own hate seal her fate. It's simply beautiful how their opposite voices fight each other to be the one who stays in your head and Palutena's entonation when sepaking of gloat in her fate.

Yeah, true. Makes it all the more frustrating yet fun at the same time. And Kid Icarus uses it extremely well, I must say. Pretty much everything in universe has an explanation in actual Greek mythology, like Pittoo's existence (shares similar message to the birth myth of Anteros), Lightning Chariot (the guy most commonly associated with the constellation Auriga aka Charioteer was Athena's adopted son and he built the first quadriga) or why Hades can just feast on souls without much problem (Psyche seemingly is still a mortal girl in this universe).
This song makes me think of King Ghidorah and Mothra, Because well, Mothra is a guardian of earth, and Ghidorah a dragon filled with hate and wishes for human extinction.
This is very nice to think of, especially since there's no better matchup for it. And, recall, Mothra is a goddess herself {matching Palutena's role} And Ghidorah is based off of Yamata No Orochi, an eight-headed hydra with heads resembling serpents {matching Medusa's role, as she's often associated with her snakes} Beautiful idea, this one you've come up with. I like it.
The only difference is that Ghidorah has no redeeming qualities. While Medusa straight up redeemed herself by not only saving Pit's life but also weakening Hades exponentially even if it cost her her life for the 3rd time.
Medusa couldn’t be loved or revered so she chose to be adorned in hatred and her heart became stone. It’s the path she chose, to create a garden of stone. Devoid of life and hope.

Medusa and Palutena have similar body types and due to their relationship in the lore, it's entirly possible for Medusa to use similar powers and abilities while still bringing something new to Smash.

I never beat KIU but I still love these characters and I want to see more of this dynamic. Maybe in a sequel Palutena revives Medusa and apologizes for turning her into a monster and banishing her to hell. I just want to see a redemption story for Medusa or anything from this series. (Edit: I'm a noob to this series so honestly Medusa may not deserve a redemption arc but I want to see her as possibly as a third force or fourth if Viridi goes crazy again but still, Give us more of this Hellish Snake Queen)

Absolutely love the chorus, when Palutena and Medusa sing together and when Palutena faces her about how her own hate seal her fate. It's simply beautiful how their opposite voices fight each other to be the one who stays in your head and Palutena's entonation when sepaking of gloat in her fate.

Yeah, true. Makes it all the more frustrating yet fun at the same time.
And Kid Icarus uses it extremely well, I must say. Pretty much everything in universe has an explanation in actual Greek mythology, like Pittoo's existence (shares similar message to the birth myth of Anteros), Lightning Chariot (the guy most commonly associated with the constellation Auriga aka Charioteer was Athena's adopted son and he built the first quadriga) or why Hades can just feast on souls without much problem (Psyche seemingly is still a mortal girl in this universe).

This song makes me think of King Ghidorah and Mothra, Because well, Mothra is a guardian of earth, and Ghidorah a dragon filled with hate and wishes for human extinction.

And, recall, Mothra is a goddess herself {matching Palutena's role}
And Ghidorah is based off of Yamata No Orochi, an eight-headed hydra with heads resembling serpents {matching Medusa's role, as she's often associated with her snakes}

The only difference is that Ghidorah has no redeeming qualities. While Medusa straight up redeemed herself by not only saving Pit's life but also weakening Hades exponentially even if it cost her her life for the 3rd time.
Seeing stuff like this makes me wish they made another game or updated the old version to the Switch since it has both thumbsticks.

@@wingedbluj1674 She wouldnt be an echo fighter. Can you imagine Medusa using the exact same spells like reflect? She could have a way more unique moveset than just a normal echo fighter.
@@wingedbluj1674 I think Viridi would make more sense as an echo, since Palutena's moves are based on abilities she granted Pit in Uprising. When she's out of commission, Viridi takes her place.
@@phoenixflamegames1 Echo fighter doesn't mean exact copy (Looking at you, Daisy and Richter) I mean in the sense of Ryu and Ken. Medusa and Palutena have similar body types and due to their relationship in the lore, it's entirly possible for Medusa to use similar powers and abilities while still bringing something new to Smash.
@@CeHee123 The issue I see is echo fighters share a body type with their base, and although gods can be whatever they want, Viridi looks like a child while Palutena looks like a full grown woman.

I never beat KIU but I still love these characters and I want to see more of this dynamic. Maybe in a sequel Palutena revives Medusa and apologizes for turning her into a monster and banishing her to hell. I just want to see a redemption story for Medusa or anything from this series. Nintendo Your Holding Out On Us! (Edit: I'm a noob to this series so honestly Medusa may not deserve a redemption arc but I want to see her as possibly as a third force or fourth if Viridi goes crazy again but still, Give us more of this Hellish Snake Queen)
Medusa did start her redemption already because she did aid in the defeat of Hades
