Studies in the Netherlands and England show transition surgery before physical maturity makes the surgery much more difficult. They also show chemical transition before puberty ends increases certain types of cancers. They just need to be validated and loved.

I was Chole Cole when I began going through puberty. I hated it and felt the same way but that was the 90’s. I learned to love myself rather quickly cause I couldn’t not love who I was anymore. I chose to love myself. That was in 7th grade. My daughter went through the same thing when she began going through puberty. I always told her we could talk. We did talk. she wanted puberty blockers, chest binders, she wanted to be a boy. She wanted to stop that period by any means. I always told her that this decision should be made as an adult. But to learn all the information out there. I’ve had so many conversations with her. 6 years later, she doesn’t want to be a boy. I’ve always listened to her and I always told her what I thought. I tell her that I love her many times out of the day.

She's only 19 and she had the surgery when she was 15. It took her around a year to realise that she made a terrible mistake and sometime longer to decide to sue and to take this to the public domain. She started to testify in May of last year and was on FOX news at that time. That's when people started to hear about Chloe Cole. So the "years" claim is a bit of an exaggeration.

I just feel very sorry for Chloe Cole. She is the bravest person I've seen on RUclips this week. I couldn't imagine sharing that story with my closest friends, and she did it on Capital Hill.

The problem is the parents not being a parent. They would rather try and be friends with their kids rather then doing the hard thing, and that's being a parent. You are a parent first and you are supposed to protect your kids. Once your kids are adults, then you can lean into some friendship role. But you will always be a parent first.
In her case, the doctor who pushed for the transition told the parents they will either have a transgender child, or a dead one (due to suicide). So I do not fully blame the parents here. They were just trying to make her happy, prevent suicide, and do what the "professionals" suggested.
Parents can be charged with abuse if they don't follow through with their child's delusion. So, I think the parents are being parents... and being criminalized for it. The child is then removed from the home and placed somewhere they encourage this behavior. The government needs to leave parents alone so we can make the right decisions for OUR children.

I was a "tomboy" growing up. Maybe it was because I have 5 brothers and 1 sister. My kids tease me and say that I am a girly "tomboy' because I am more comfortable in jeans, t-shirt and skate shoes, but I love makeup, jewlry, long hair and nails. I don't know how many 60 year old women I might be speaking for right now, but, ummmmm at 12 years old, I was the biggest TOM BOY you'd EVER wanna meet!!! I pretended my bike was either a horse and I was Little Joe Cartright OR it was a motorcycle and I was a leather jacketed high school badass.....I played with frogs, bugs, rocks and got muddy, I didn't swoon at the sight of blood, and took bruises and scrapes like a champ! if my cousins and I were pretending to be rock and roll singers on stage, I lip synched to the cutest boy singer in the band!!........I could whack a baseball across the yard and RUN like Forrest Gump!! I could make 3 pointer basketball shots all day long.......I would even try to talk in a deeper voice and parted my hair to the side like my DAD!!! LMAO! BUT!!!! And THIS is what kids refuse to let happen.....I GREW UP!!!!!! At 16 I got my first job and my first CRUSH!!! And it was NOT on another girl, y'all !!!!! I had put my tom boy days behind me when I entered puberty, more or less, lol......I mean, I'm pretty sure Little Joe didn't need Stay Free maxi pads, y'know? But I allowed myself to mature into the woman that I was BORN TO BE and went on to become a mother, and a grandmother......THAT is the natural course of life......THAT is what needs to be allowed to happen......God save us all
We all go through changes when we are growing up. When you get older your body and mind start to settle down so don't do anything until you are grown up. The suture on the top of our skull doesn't fully close until we are 25 years old. Do not let others tell you or influence you on your personal issues. No matter how young or how old you are. By the way Chloe I think you are a beautiful and intelligent young lady.
I am sorry for what you have had to go through, but, your parents did not do their job and the US legal system giving children the power over their parents is what is wrong and what has been allowed to happen. Parents need to wake up, stop letting the children be the grown ups that is NOT their job IT'S YOURS!!! Do your job and raise your child, you let harm come to this child, you did not protect this child from outside influence instead you GAVE IN to the outside influence and you allowed this to happen........ I hope that miss Cole will be able to find peace within herself, and that she will be able to come to terms with what has happened to her, the physical side is only but one of the many challenges she now has to deal with, the mental side is where the rubber will meet the road. Lawmakers MUST make this illegal. Remove the decision from the parents and the surgeons. Therapy should be the intervention. I'd make it age 25 to medically transition, with mandatory counseling beforehand. Brain isn't fully developed until about age 25.
The parents do not have the right to mutilate their children.

As a person who identifies as non-binary and trans I think it's really important to center the safety and health of children and there needs to be more safeguards in place to prevent this kind of thing from happening to children.

I believe in psychiatrical treatment and therapeutic treatment. I just can't cry over stories like this because the parents know that they have to get many different opinions sometimes to do the best for their child. Take them to every doctor possible instead of jumping the gun and changing their whole entire body around.
