Chile ranks tenth among wine producing countries on the world market.
The vine was introduced to Chile by the Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century.
Increasingly, the country is calling on the know-how of French winegrowers and cultivating vineyards grown from cuttings of European vines taken before phylloxera hit Europe.
