Twenty years ago I played in a DT tribute band called Ethereality, Puglia, Italy. My friends waere very, very, very gifted musicians... It was an honor for me play with those guys, full of energy and awesome musicians.. In that year, 2001, We always open concerts with these two songs... Wowowowow! We were on fire! And We were crazy too! ;-) Love this whole album... I were 18, but I played DT songs every days, and my father used to say: "Eeeehy, WaF, what is this World War music!?!? Why don't You play Tom & Jerry music!?" :-P
so lucky to have seen this at HOB LA, 2000 !!! Petrucci was still playing his ibanez picasso guitars!! what a show, seared in my memory forever! (now for the obligatory I miss MP dammit!!!)
He's helping him with his microphone for the backing vocals. He puts it into place when Mike has to sing a few lines, and then he moves it back so it won't bother him while he's playing.
Portnoy always been the soul and energy of the band. His inflection is magic. Mangini is a talented robot but it is sad to see him play Portnoy’s parts.
I had someone else's copy of I&W in my disc man, so I listened to it in the car, and then one day it hit me. these guys are really good! so I checked them out on utube, saw this vid, showed it to a friend, and 20 days later we're at the best gig I've ever been to. hardly new the songs, I couldn't have enjoyed it less! 6/16/09 was awesome!
I'll never forget when I bought the 3CD live album of this at Best Buy. I never buy live CDs but I had really gotten into Dream Theater at the time. Still love the band. I bought the 3CD set with the original artwork. Kinda hard to believe this was 9 years ago.
This show pretty much secured Portnoys legacy as the greatest drummer ever. He was drunk off his ass at this show and still managed to lay down the craziest drum solo ever at the end of metropolis. Dream Theater is simply unbeatable
Actually yeah, thankfully I own the dvd and I listened to the commentary on it. And I'm glad someone out there knows where I was coming from with the Rush reference aha, thanks.
An Album with the tittle Metropolis PT2. Then an Overture that is so in your face you will here the Metropolis Motiff right away. then Crunch time lovely concept
Video Quality: 6/10
Audio Quality: 15/10
wow never knew marty friedman was such a good pianist :o
Lmfao u make my day
genuine lol
😂😂
Jordan Rudess became from Marty Friedman to Scott Ian
Imagine a collab with Marty Friedman and Jordan Rudess
Honestly i would absolutely love if they did another tour playing this whole album.
Agreed! This album is mind blowing!!
Maybe in 2019, on this album's 20th anniversary...
That's what I'm hoping for. That and BTBAM Colors 10 year anniversary (next year) are the 2 I'm hoping for
the last absolute genious dt album
As much as I love this album I'm gonna disagree with that. I also love Train of Thought and The Astonishing, believe it or not
Portony with Labrie's clean vocal... It's awesome. I miss that time
Absolutely one of Dream Theater's greatest albums!!!!
Braeden Rodgers yes
The greatest
Maurizio Agliata agree
Next is awake right?
Maybe the best
James LaBrie ! Great vocalist
💩
1982...i am 2year old... But this 2023..i am willy hearing this band... You legenda "dream theater"... I am an Indonesia Fans
i think its safe to say these is their prime, this is DT at its finest!
2022 still on fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2024 naw
Holy hair Rudess
Lol
This song is what made fall in love with DT. That opening riff is just killer.
as the years passed, rudess' hair moved from his head to his chin Lol
😂😂😂
Just like Kerry (King) & Scot (Ian).
The beginning of the JR era.
240p live and they stiil sound AWESOME
Aahhhhh Mikey ... please do one more tour with DT. I miss the heartbeat of the band
"Tonight I've been searching for it!"
goosebumps
Words can't describe how awesome this material is.
Dream Theater 4 ever !!!
This is the one of the greatest bands ever!
Damn James does such a good job singing in this vid, gives me chils everytime I hear it
Jordan Rudess before becoming a wizard
😂😂😂😂😂
XD
Tonight I've been searching for it〜♫
overture 1928 can never be played without strange dejavu, and vice versa
I didn't know Weird Al played keyboard for Dream Theater.
Saccharin3D that's fkin hilarious
labrie looks more like weird al than rudess
ruddes had hair
@@Anarchy_Astonishing he’s recycled his hair into beard
7:12 - 7:37 The most beautiful piece of music ever written. :')
I like how the emblem of "Majesty" takes places in every single event of theirs despite their name being Dream Theater
Portnoy + Myung + Petrucci + Rudess + LaBrie = the one and only classic Dream Theater lineup
Only went downhill from there man :(
Switch Rudess with Kevin Moore and yes
Kevin Moore is better.
@@fenderkingx2119 Moore is More?
And Rudess Less?
@@migueldrums19 haha makes sense
There's only one Dream Theater and is the one with Portnoy as drummer.
Portnoy rules
Labrie is a beast!!!!
SOMETIMES IT FEELS LIKE I WANNA DIE LISTENING TO LABRIE´S VOCALS :S
Sometimes I feel Like I'm going to die from listening to his live vocals. [Shudder]
This a video that will never get old..Its wonderful..for all us human beings...Thankyou

:-P
Best show ever
Right? His voice sounds fantastic here!
When I was little I always watched this concert on VHS with my father... good memories :')
this two "songs" are in my top 5 undoubtly
Here we are... 10 years after that.. and dream Theater still being the greatest progressive band of all times.
What a great upgrade Jordan Rudess with the advance technology From Kurzweil to now KORG 👌 You will always be my inspiration.

TO THIS DAY. best dream formation ever. those times. and without portnoy dream does not sound like dream
Surprisingly they never made this story into a movie.
This was a movie that already existed, John liked the concept so he made an album about it, if I remember correctly.
for sure. the best drummer who ever lived? am i right or am i right?
jmiester25 right
Nope, you're not!
Completely agreed
Marco Minnemann IMO
Such a relic of an upload. Here's to 12 more years!!
By far one of my favorite albums. Love the story that runs through it. Would be a killer movie.
Seeing them for the 18th time in March 2019!
How do you make it through LaBrie?
@@bucko60 He sounds wayyyyyy better in person than videos ever capture
If they live for a thousand years, this will still be their finest moment. Epic beyond words.
I can't imagine Mangini playing this song with that amount of energy Portnoy has..
Yeah, you were spot on. Just watched a recent live version with Mangini which really felt like it was falling flat compared to this.
Portnoy always been the soul and energy of the band. His inflection is magic. Mangini is a talented robot but it is sad to see him play Portnoy’s parts.

I love the bass 🤩
damn i love Dreamtheater, Possibly the greatest band in the world! every thing they do just is outstanding!

Even after 12 years its unbelievable!!!!!
Those good old days...
best opening ever
Epic songs!!

Hi from 12 years later
Later in 14 years
Actually yeah, thankfully I own the dvd and I listened to the commentary on it.
And I'm glad someone out there knows where I was coming from with the Rush reference aha, thanks.
Oh god how I miss Portnoy
Fábio Dias ...certo

Portnoy wrote this shit
Fuck you!
That missed kick drum right at the beginning of the song was like " oops " lol
Such a deep lyric ,

They can't recreate album like this anymore, not even them, this album is pure gold!

MASTER PIECE!!
Thanks for uploading both shongs together mon!
Seriously, these guys sound better live than on the album (with some exceptions)
Too awesome
I have my own terms to describe something that happened so long ago when tells a story, "When Jordan Rudess still had long hair"
A masterpiece
DT é bom demais!!!!
may be the best live performance of dt!! james sounds really good to!!
@DaHarbinger1 i believe.. it was either this song or dance of eternity, that was used in a Dragon Ball Z movie.. the trunks one.
Insuperável!
took the words right out of my mouth
Lagu kebangsaan gue pada jaman nya dahulu kala
my favorite song
