Converting triangles to quads doesn't actually reduce the number of faces because CLO counts quads as single faces. However, each quad is made up of two triangles, and 3D applications only recognize these triangles, not the quads. So, you need to double the face count you see in CLO when working with quads to understand how many triangles you'll end up with in Unreal Engine.
correct. Unreal can only import triangle meshes, so it can be confusing if working with quads in CLO and best practice to change to Triangle for Unreal

I'm on a Mac Book Pro M2 with CLO 2024 - I've installed the CLO2024 Live Sync edition , plus Substance. _ i noticed that for Mac there isn't Direct X to switch to 11 - 2 options 12. OS and 14 , - I've tried both options; The transparency setting checked too - so Unreal 3.2 appears all good with being active and installed. However, CLOLIVESYNC is not in the windows menu. I've restarted Unreal a few times and double checked both LS and SBT are checked as installed. Is Live Sync working / available for Mac users? I have CLO running in the background too. Thanks..
Currently LiveSync is only for PC, but we hope to expand livesync in later versions

UE 5.4 > everything works fine until I synchronize and export metahuman to clo3d where I get two avatars overlapped and one slightly taller than the other one. Any thoughts on the possible issue?
We would recommend using the Meta humans that are available directly in CLO library

@@CLO3D I followed your instructions. Everything is fine but when it's time to export the animation from Unreal to Clo the problem is still there with two avatar sizes overlapping. I think there is a bug in your plugin and without a fix is unusable. Or maybe is there a different way to match the avatar animation to the garment? Let us know

Same issue here with UE 5.4 and the plugin
The avatar animation vs the garment animation are ever so slightly off - would this be to do with the frame rate or something else? Is there a way to fix this? Also the garment doesn't fit perfectly in unreal engine like it does in clo - perhaps the garment is too tightly fitting for this use case? Any solution?

Hello!! i am making the animation from metahuman to animate in clo and bring it back... but once i bring the animated cloth to unreal it does not match anymore with the original animation from the metahuman..... do you know what may be wrong??
If there is a mismatch between the metahuman and the garment through LiveSync, the AnimationBlueprint of the metahuman SkeletalMesh must be disabled. When using AnimBlueprint, the avatar structure is transformed inside UE.

Hi. Since we don't know how the StaticMesh UV broke down, it's difficult to suggest an exact solution. However, since the part that changes regarding UV is likely to be the Unified option, it is recommended to change this option.

I followed strictly step by step as your guidance but I faced the problem once syncing CLO in UE. The Unreal process has crashed with this bugs Fatal error: [File:D:\build\++UE5\Sync\Engine\Source\Runtime\Core\Private\GenericPlatform\GenericPlatformMemory.cpp] [Line: 251] Ran out of memory allocating 4710587262203550279 bytes with alignment 16. I I've tested it and it works great, the only problem is that the .objs I had in the scene in CLO weren't imported into UE
The .objs were several avatars, I put them back as .avt, but it only imports 1 to the UE, the others don't, does anyone know how to solve it?
With the current LiveSync feature, even if there are multiple avatars in a CLO scene, only one can be imported. If you want to import multiple avatars, the only way is to place each avatar in CLO and import each avatar using LiveSync.

I have a Metahuman with Morph Targets that increase the muscle size and overall volume of the body. When I use LiveLink to send the Methauman to Clo3D, it does not send the version with morph targets (which are seen as turned on in the viewport and the same Avatar Blueprint) but in Clo the 3D Avatar with less volume, with no body morph target activated gets exported. And I can simulate the garment and send it back to UE but of course it does not fit the more buffer Metahuman who has bigger size. How can I send the Metahuman with the turned on Morph Target to Clo via LiveLink?
Hi! Morph Target data is not supported at the moment - Users will need to stick to the default 18 body types until LiveSync supports Morph Target data
@@CLO3D What is a workaround for me then? I have to use the avatar with the morph targets and the more muscular upper body for the project. Thank you

When I try to restart Unreal after setting the plugin settings I get a error message saying "The ´CLOLiveSync` plugin was designed for build 5.4.0. Attempt to load it anyway?" but it is not possible to load. How can I fix it?
Make sure that you have the newest version of CLO as well as the newest version of Live Sync downloaded

I was so glad when I found out about this plugin, but when I click the import to UE button inside the plugin, the UE just crashes and gives an error, but I have a fairly new i9 computer, 64 GB of RAM and a 4090 graphics card. So the problem is in the plugin or in the settings

Is it possible to transfer fur (render only) from CLO to Unreal using LiveSync???
Currently no. Fur is only in CLO

the only option when I save is Static mesh and all the UV maps are saved individually so can't drag&drop my garment or my avatar
You should not need to drag and drop at all. Make sure you have the correct version of both UE and livesync then follow the tutorial
hi there thanks for an amazing work flow, have a question i am woriking with substance texture plug in clo and when i import the garment to unreal he transfer it with the texture but with the original color textured and not the one i have changed it to ?

Is there a featuer to use custom footwear and underwear? It would be great to disable default Metahuman's slippers and underwear.
Examples:
1. Any custom footwear
2. Characters in very open clothing where the metahuman's underwhere will interfere with the look
3. Highheels! These would also requier some fiddling with pose.
Can you address that please? These questions are crucial to create complete looks

I arranged my UDIMs in Clo and exported my garment mesh as an OBJ to bring it to Substance Painter. With UDIM workflow I painted different areas of the mesh as desired in Substance. I exported my textures and now I am lost because the imported GeoCache Sim from the same Clo File, with the same UVs, which work in Substance, do not let me attach my custom substance textures to the geo cache mesh in UE. Are the UVs being erased with this livelink transfer from Clo to UE? Or how can I attach my custom textures from substance to the imported geo cache - i thought that the UVs are being maintained?
This is meant to go from CLO to Unreal directly. If you also upload the substance plugin you should be editing in Unreal. No need to export as an OBJ to Substance
What if if we have a facial animation of the metahuman that also determines fabric movement of simulation in clo? like facial animations that would simulate a mask differently? Hence, can we combine the face and body animation within one live link animation sequence that we can send to clo? or is it only body motion at the moment?
The metahuman currently imported into LiveSync has a combined body and head bone, but only the body animation. This is because there is no way to specify the animation corresponding to the head in the Persona Editor.

After keeping Geometric cache in Environment in Unreal , some parts of my garments are looking transparent, although everything is looking fine in clo as well as in Clo plugin window of unreal, then why some parts are looking transparent? Please reply

Have you checked to make sure your computer specs are all able to run both Epic and CLO. They are both heavy programs. Also, make sure to make sure your graphics card is up to date

Hey hi! Im getting problems on CLO when I import 500+ frames animations i get constant crashes from CLO. I have this 700 frames long animation and cant import it. Did you get similar issues? i cant import in three separated parts cuz i have dolly cameras targeted on the character and i lose them.
We would recommend taking a look at your computers graphics card and update it if possible
What Happens if the Geometry cache option doesn't appear, only static Mesh?
If the GeometryCache options is not activated, it means that the selected object does not have any simulated record data. If you record a simulation in CLO AnimationMode, this option will be activated.

does livecync need internet connection?
Yes. CLO requires the internet for logging and must also be open while UE is running
Hi please help i get an error saying modules are missing when i activet the plugin in ue5.4 clolivesyncore,clolivesyncruntime,clolivesyncmisc,clolivesynceditor. please build through your ide.
The currently distributed clolivesync does not work in ue5.4. livesync for ue5.4 will be distributed after the substance plugin is released first.

I have no problem exporting clothes to UE5 but when I try to export my metahuman to MD it crashes. I have successfully been able to sync it twice out of 100 times. I have all the right setting and everything up to date.

Yes, before exporting did you make sure that your fabric view in the 3D Vertical Toggle was set to Thick Texture Surface (not texture surface)
@@CLO3D This worked great thanks! Is UDIM currently supported? I dont see any VT samplers in the shaders and exporting with UDIM did not seem to work
@COL3D Also Unified Material does not seem to work. I would expect for it to behave with regular UVs, but something seems off, exporting the obj to substance and importing the textures does not work

@@CLO3D No, from my understanding the clo3d bridge relies on project settings of Unreal Engine with directx11
When using Methumans and functions such as e.g. Metahuman animator which only works within a directx12 project, the clo3d plugin restriction on needing directx11, comes in very limiting. Hence, I am curious if and when there will be a directx12 plugin based for the clo3d bridge. And I do not understand why its directx11 in the first place :)

@CLO3D I spent hours and hours trying. But I can't use metahuman. It always crashes. With a native CLO avatar I even got it. But with Metahuman it just doesn't work.

Unreal 5.3 crashes all the time and 5.4 doesn't work directly. Totally disappointed
