There are so many entitled parents who just make a fuss and dont take enough care. This family did everything, prepared and made sure in advance they could use the chair
As a parent of a special need young adult and who's wheelchair bound. We travel and know exactly how difficult to travel with him. Healthy people have no idea what people with disabilities go through every day
@@1456Sassy -I'm not the one making the assumptions here, that's you. If you're gonna make an accusation about something that happened that you didn't witness, back it up or shut up-
I appreciate how Air Canada stepped in. The particular airline, as the mom, said needs to change its policies instead of making its customers wait. People with disabilities should be able to do whatever they want; especially on their birthdays.
Thank God for people like them who stand up for people like us who lost our ability on some, Most, All levels. We don't have enough people to take action when help is needed.
Cathay Pacific should be shut down and replace the TSA agents who refuse to follow its own rules and regulations with TSA agents who abide by its own rules and regulations.

But did they record the phone call or print the boy's flight details? I always print my details and take names of people I talk to, never had an issue.
I would like a shirt like that except for a mom. I have a high functioning son that is autistic. My other son has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair. As a special needs parent I feel my sons are entitled. They are entitled to some understanding and empathy. They are entitled to be treated as human beings with dignity and respect. They are entitled to be included as much as possible in various activities. They are entitled to not be forgotten. My son in a wheelchair is entitled to wheelchair accessible entrances. In this day and age these things should be standard. I realize some places were built way back when and to make them accessible is not possible. If places were built with the handicapped in mind everyone would be included. When you build for the able bodied you neglect a good portion of the public. For those that are not handicapped now keep in mind you could be in the future. An accident or old age could change everything. We are asking to be included in life and helped to make daily activities easier. For some stairs are nothing. For a wheelchair they are devastating 😢. I don't feel that is too much to ask. But for the grace of God it would be you instead of my sons.
I agree that this is total BS but I also think these parents are nuts to try to fly 25+ hours with two kids, one of whom is severely disabled. Fly the grandparents to your home.
Anyone should be able to fly and visit their family if they want to. Ableist society is what makes it such a hassle to fly with a wheelchair user. If airline staff were properly trained to handle transportation of wheelchairs just like they handle transportation of able-bodied people, no one would be thinking "those parents are nuts."
@@DotMcFarlane What about the rights of the other passengers who would be inconvenienced by this kid? A severely disabled person like that shouldn't fly. Why not book a private cabin in a ship instead?
Go air Canada, as a parent of a special needs child with a wheelchair and extremely specialized equipment I salute you. You are a hero

Please don’t say special needs it’s ableist do your research
What makes you think disabled people aren't healthy?
I've been disabled since 1966; trust me, disability has nothing to do with health.
There's nothing Special about being disabled either.
Nicely said!
No such thing as "customer service" anymore. These airlines are out of control, horrible. Give this family a free all expenses paid trip.
I love mom's positive attitude. I don't think I'd have been so forgiving, especially after the airline originally approved the boys chair.
She’s on camera. You weren’t there at the gate to witness how she reacted to the airline personnel.
@@sean2015 Were you? Didn't think so. Did you not hear the part that the chair was pre-approved when she booked the flight? So go sit down and zip it!

Never fly with the airway again remember they need your money you don’t need them
To the staff of the Cathay Airport: YOU SHOULD BE FIRED AND NEVER WORK FOR ANY AIRLINE IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO HELP PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES!
Why should they be fired??
It’s not the staff. It’s the policy makers
EVERY ONE NEEDS TO BOYCOTT CATHAY PACIFIC. SOUNDS LIKE A AIRLINE THAT COULD CARE LESS ABOUT DISABLED PEOPLE.
Air Canada is one of my favorite airlines.
Refund and fly Quantas. Disgusting. Way to go Air Canada. Wonderful fuck up PR, Cathay Pacific.
Qantas!!
