Rhett is right on the money about everything he said. It's really incredible how authentic and vulnerable Rhett and Link are on this podcast. It's something I really appreciate, and even though it's not the most uplifting thing to say but Rhett going on about the future of humanity is exactly how I feel as well. Hopefully things will change for the better but I'm not hopeful anymore.
I agree I notice how they openly show the process of stating something, hearing new information, and altering their opinion based on the information. I think people need to see things like that to be encouraged to be themselves and normalize not always knowing everything and accepting it
Take solace in the fact that progress always has won out in the long run for humanity. There have always been hiccups and backwards steps. But consider where the world was 60 years ago or 20 years ago. Things get better. Live your life according to your morality. That's all you can do.
Wish more people had that straight forward human function called empathy. The end of this one really was great. Everyone regardless of what you belive or stand for can use this to better themselves and the people around their lives.

I think that's more about not trusting someone to be inside your home than it is about helping someone in need. What Rhett is saying is you should try to help someone even if they disagree with your world view and I think this applies to almost everyone unless if they're just plain evil. Usually homophobia, transphobia, islamophobia or any other irrational socially rooted -phobia comes from stories or teachings that are aimed at driving people apart. If you show them as an LGBT+ person that you're just a human being trying to help the other, they might think about their beliefs and if it's actually true what they've been taught. That doesn't mean you have to let someone into your home that you don't trust.

1:09:10 Rhett, we already found a way to get carbon out of the air. the "technology" already exists for longer than humanity itself and it's very simple: trees. the problem just is that we as humans keep tearing them down to feed all the animals we chose to eat. and to build new roads, buildings, cities. the solution is already here, but as long as short-term-profit is the sole driver of economies and as long as individuals aren't ready to adapt their lifestyle, it won't change.
Actually thanks to the lumber industry, there are more trees in North America than ever before. When looking at carbon and pollution the US is essentially “sustainable” where if we were to continue just as we are, the environment will be fine. It is the developing countries that do the overwhelming majority or deforestation and atmospheric pollution and they are just not “privileged” enough to care because they are surviving.
Actually the lungs of our planet are in the ocean. Oceanic plant life and and photosynthetic plankton consume and store more CO2 than the trees on land. Empathy is what humans need to work together in today's climate. Yet if one side does not show the simple courtesy of respect, it's impossible to feel ok with that kind of behavior. It's frustrating that being helpful can lead to being stepped on. You have to voice your concerns when basic human rights are being ripped away, there is no middle or grey ground. After the election, we will see where America, but more importantly if democracy is strong enough to hold together this fraction nation. Rhett I feel you about wishing for a Utopia, but for it to ever even happen, people will need to agree on a common ground and that common ground is that humans rights is not for debate, ever. This also comes from an optimistic person who back in 2016 tried to believe there was a middle ground. Even so im glad you guys talk about these heavy topics, we need to have these conversations now.
When I was a kid I would always press my fists against my eyelids to see all different colored patterns moving around. I don't think a day went by without doing it lol
THANK YOU GUYS as always for the honest and brave discussions, even venturing into difficult or controversial topics. Your discussions inspire me to think about how I feel about a topic, and whether I agree or disagree in the end, I think it's healthy for people to examine their own perspective. I truly think you guys are also positively influencing a younger generation that is just starting to form their own perspective on the world! So thank you💙
@Kenneth Smotherman I don’t think that’ll help much. Because a lot of the pain is due to the stuff bees “venom” and swelling, Benadryl helps with both. Where as Tylenol is more just pain relief and not treating the root cause. It won’t hurt anything. So I guess if you really want to.
@Kenneth Smotherman I think Advil would work better because it also reduces inflammation. Or when I get really bad headaches or a tooth issue my favorite is both. I take one of each and they combined work very well for me. They even make a mixed one now called Advil Dual action. And it’s both combined into one pill. “Tylenol (acetaminophen) is only effective at relieving pain and fever, but Advil (ibuprofen) relieves inflammation in addition to pain and fever.” www.drugs.com/medical-answers/tylenol-advil-difference-3126965/

My mom got stung in the eyeball by a dive bomber bee. I had to call an ambulance. Turns out it goes in your bloodstream faster if I stings you in a sensitive area with that many blood vessels. Don’t get stung in the eye
I had a honey bee hive take over my house for a few months. I accidentally got stung in my sleep twice. And once in the afternoon. I was drinking a beer and thought the beer was making me feel funny. Nope. I went to the ER just in case and turns out I was full flung anaphylactic shock. I had to stay there overnight and get the special medication. I was prescribed an epipen but I don’t need it so I never got it. Because normally if I get stung once it’s fine. It’s just because I had multiple stings in a certain time frame. It added up.
@@wolffennec474 ok, so here’s a crazy thing. So when hives get too big they divide. So they don’t just collapse all together. And bring a new baby queen with them. Usually in the spring which is when they showed up. It’s crazy they swarm around the queen and protect her until they find a place to settle down. They used the space in between my house to live temporarily until they found their forever home. I didn’t mind. Because I never had so much garden success ever. Like I grew so many veggies it was insane.

I'm so happy to hear someone other than my mum and dad talking about this! I feel the exact same way about what Rhett said. Seems like us humans just don't know how to ban together. This does indeed come from the way of living we used to have (living in small groups). Our brain is not capable of living in groups bigger than around 150 people. So to think of effects that we have as billions of us is not really what our brains are made for. I honestly don't see a very bright future ahead, but boy was I happy to hear we (my parents and I) aren't the only ones talking/thinking about this!
Really enjoyed the heaviness Rhett brought in. Totally agree with the point made in regards to algorithm culture. People are being sheltered and coddled to think they're always right because their phones are agreeing with them. Less algorithms, more unity!

38:38 Speaking of sleeping. Thinking how most of a town in the middle of the night is filled with all these people lying on mattresses in their home...unconscious and breathing but not doing anything purposeful freaks me out. I appreciate yall a lot, I can't even describe how it makes me feel. I'm eternally grateful that you guys are such good people. In a sea of fake and malevolent youtubers, yall stand out. You don't have to be perfect humans, but you're authentic, you have good morals, and you genuinely care about the work you do, and the people you work with. Again, I appreciate yall a lot! Thanks for doing what you do!
Link: "I don't know that an eyeball can swell."
I immediately want to Google image this consecutively giving that a second thought. I'll save it for another time, another day.
I google image searched it. It doesn't seem fun to be stung there.
Another day, another time, another while, another span, another stretch, another spell, another moment, another hour, another date, another period.
Frick it im googling it
Ok now i wish i can erase my memory
I googled it (had to), and saw not much swelling but many, many bloody and blue eyeballs...
The dad selfies of the bee sting kills me 🤣
Maybe the opening should be “Welcome to Ear Biscuits where things start light, but will definitely get deep.”
I am in LOVE with the way y'all seem to be so much more free & casual with your conversations lately FOSHO
Also appreciate you, Rhett for EpicLloyd laptop placement
Floaters are debris and hardening pieces of the eye jelly inside the eye (Vitrious jelly). You see them because they drift across your field of vision as your lens throws the image to the retina.
You'll get more the older you get unless like me and Rhett you have Presbyopia aka "old eyes".
Btw, when I close my eyes I see pictures like previews of dreams but they look like photo negatives
The face morphing conversation was interesting. I'm looking at my coworkers adjusting their masks all day and, I'm convinced that all of our noses are going to look different by the time this effing pandemic is over.
And our ears lol. Mine always get pushed forward. Or one of em does. Gonna see some cheesy lawyer commercials in ten years like this:
Has your nose bent or your earls curled from wearing a mask during the Covid days? You might be eligible for legal compensation! Call 1-800...
Idk why I'm so obsessed with ear biscuits. Like I listen to it on the podcasts app and then I watch the video version (sometimes the whole thing). Why? Idk 😂 I'm glad I came for the video of this one tho. There were a lot of photos and viduals.
Really enjoyed this episode and I thank you guys for being candid about your views on the facts we are living with.
Stay strong, my friends.
Agreed.
Thank you for being so passionate about this. It’s so refreshing and as a new fan I am amazed by how much you do
This is what I love about Ear Biscuits. Rhett and Link get very deep with their thoughts and feelings.❤
I laughed so hard about Rhett and the stinger! I would've expected that story more from Link! How funny!
When I was a kid I would always press my fists against my eyelids to see all different colored patterns moving around. I don't think a day went by without doing it lol
Same
Yeah try getting stung in your eye it's painful
Cooking for Sunday dinner starts with Ear Biscuits on Background
Weird...it is Sunday, it's 6:30 am and you are cooking dinner already?
@@audreymai2773 hey don't judge, maybe they're doing dinner for breakfast
@@audreymai2773 😁
Diff time zone
If this was GMM it'll be breakfast tho. 😅
Link went faster than he wanted to down the hill because he's.... competitive???
THANK YOU GUYS as always for the honest and brave discussions, even venturing into difficult or controversial topics. Your discussions inspire me to think about how I feel about a topic, and whether I agree or disagree in the end, I think it's healthy for people to examine their own perspective.
I truly think you guys are also positively influencing a younger generation that is just starting to form their own perspective on the world! So thank you💙
Y'all have inspired my bands newest song with this episode. I love what you guys do keep up the great work!!
What's the song? Is it recorded?
Thank you for talking about these things guys, especially Rhett, your opinions are always appreciated
The fact im not alone in always watching my eye floaters as a kid makes me feel so much better😅
The t-shirt Link is wearing is a wonderful shade of blue.
Hers a pro tip; Take BENEDRYL after bee stings, it’s an antihistamine and helps reduce swelling and itching.
“Tylenol (acetaminophen) is only effective at relieving pain and fever, but Advil (ibuprofen) relieves inflammation in addition to pain and fever.”

I enjoy that Ear Biscuits comes out at 2pm where i am... just getting off work and relaxing and get to listen to these two knuckleheads talking about random shit!
First Time Watching The Podcast Finally Got Caught Up On GMM 💯🔥💪🏾
I love how logical you guys are!! You put your biases aside and just use deep thought. The more we talk about change the more we will head toward it happening.
So then what's the cause of seeing robed cult members circling counterclockwise around you when your eyes are closed?
As someone who works in the oil industry i love these conversations.
This was very refreshing to hear. I want to have high hopes for the people of Earth but if the world is anything like my neighbors in my small apartment complex, there will never be a utopia. I still want to believe though
The tangent about wanting to wear Oakley sunglasses all the time because your sight is so amazing is such a dad divergence... too much.
Has anyone else noticed that their voices are beginning to sound similar?
This reminds me of when my very German father with ZERO upper lip decided to shave his mustache for the first time in, oh I don't know, 25+ years.... He's had that mustache before I was even born. Anyway, he looked so unbelievably different that we couldn't look at him. In fact it was so drastic, my stepmom took out her eyebrow pencil & drew a mustache on him 😂😂😂😂😂 I'll never forget it. We (& he might I add) were absolutely traumatized lol He hasn't shaved it since & I don't think he ever will. & thank God for that 😂🙏
I always Love it when you guys go Deep! Thank you for not be afraid to speak.
I too see the traveling through space thing when i close my eyes. I like to pretend Im going through wormholes before i fall asleep
February 2021 and I am watching Ear biscuits for the first time. I watched GMM for few years but this podcast is on other level. So suiting and calming. Love it!!! Friendship shared with us. Thanks guys. Greetings from Serbia!
I like how sometimes Rhett just says stuff and they both have to back track hard afterwards XD
Rhett eating the stinger story is so funny, lol.
42:30 I'd never heard someone explain it the same way i had thought of it as a kid ;). Thanks for bringing back the memories.
“Maybe your mother had a tighter uterus than mine”
Now that’s a strange thing to say 😂
42:30 Rhett "...the fabric of space-time ...inside your eyes" EB- not just a podcast, but an encounter with the universe.
Listening further - Wow! This is the convo the world needs right now. It is honest and not inflammatory in its intent. 1:17:00 The very emblem of how far we are from basic human caring.
Your eyes do shut off when you close your eyes. You aren't just looking at the back of your eyelids lol
@@FukaiKokoro how did honey bees take over your house for a month?
Yes, but did it make her see better?
Is that why people do tequila shots in the eye?
@@wolffennec474 ok, so here’s a crazy thing. So when hives get too big they divide. So they don’t just collapse all together. And bring a new baby queen with them. Usually in the spring which is when they showed up. It’s crazy they swarm around the queen and protect her until they find a place to settle down. They used the space in between my house to live temporarily until they found their forever home. I didn’t mind. Because I never had so much garden success ever. Like I grew so many veggies it was insane.
“Just gon’ shoot the breeze today.” ~Ear Biscuits
I always begin listening to your podcast before going to sleep, but it's such an ideas' roller coaster that my brain can't stop working and I end up finishing the entire thing. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?!
I truly appreciate the last topic y’all touched up on, it is quite difficult to explain but you did well guys.
I always described the eye thing as static on an old TV
That phosphene thing, I though I was the only one in the world who could get that haha. The lights that I see when I gently pysh my eyeballs has always been purple. Im 23 now and I remember doing it since three.
Favorite Ear Biscuits podcast so far!
I honestly don't see a very bright future ahead, but boy was I happy to hear we (my parents and I) aren't the only ones talking/thinking about this!
earliest i’ve ever been 😌
Same
Me too
Why did I misread that 'ugliest I've ever seen' 😅
Really enjoyed the heaviness Rhett brought in. Totally agree with the point made in regards to algorithm culture. People are being sheltered and coddled to think they're always right because their phones are agreeing with them. Less algorithms, more unity!
Maybe sell the grooming items as a bundle for christmas "mythically handsome"? That would be awesome
i did and still do experience the stars when i close my eyes, but i never told no one about this sensation, hearing Rhett talking about this felt close to my heart and assure me i am not crazy.
Rhett, I know exactly what you mean about the stars. As a kid, I used to watch them and follow them as I drifted off to sleep.
40:30 I thought it was just me that focussed on the, light speed through space eyelid thing! I could see glowy images, like after a bright flash hits your eyes, shapes of familiar things speeding by. Rhett just unlocked a 30 year old memory for me! I can still do it too! Man, the relatability of these two is on a whole other level!
38:38 Speaking of sleeping. Thinking how most of a town in the middle of the night is filled with all these people lying on mattresses in their home...unconscious and breathing but not doing anything purposeful freaks me out. Like the fact that we spend lots of money on bedding and mattresses just to lay down and "turn off" for however many hours every night just wigs me out if I think too much about it.
Maybe you would enjoy a nature documentary about all the wildlife that comes out at night :D I've always thought of nighttime being busy, but in a different way that humans don't see
This aged well…
yall should do an ear buscuit with Stevie, id love to hear more from them
Rhett and Link wearing masks of each others faces for a GMM episode!
Link mentioning Eddy Burback makes me so happy.
*Rhett
But yes that's awesome lol
