Last time I saw Lee was here in Hyden at the Osborne Brothers festival. I had left our chairs by the stage and went down to the camper for something and came back and there sat Lee and his wife in our chairs. My girlfriend said to go tell them they was in our chairs and I said heck no that's mountain royalty right there, so I went back and got two more for us and I sat and talked to him for almost 2 hours.
@oldhairyguy Man, that's cool! Lee's how old now? I've wanted to meet him, I've learned a lot of of tunes from his playing, and I've wanted to ask him about working in the mines. Also, Morgan, many people said he couldn't sing, but I learned one tune from him, London City Where I Did Dwell, and he also worked in the caol mines of Eastern KY, and I guess he had to quit school early to help his Dad in the depression years. ~Craig
does anyone know what tuning he is in there? i tried to figure it out from the part where he goes over each string but he goes to fast for a beginner like me. thanks!
The only version of Shady Grove worth hearing. Lee is one of my favorite players.
Is that an absurd joke?
