oh wow!! i guess you must have gotten a lot of questions about it because i literally JUST sent you a question about it haha and i was just thinking "I wish there was a video" 😂 thanks for posting!!
For anyone coming here to learn visually for the Jasper sweater pattern - do the swatch she suggests. Not only will it ensure you can do the stitch correctly and to the proper sizing but it also gives you really good practice with it before you start the actual sweater. I have never done the waistcoat stitch before so there was a learning curve for me with this one. After doing a couple of practice swatches and adjusting hook sizes I’m having a really easy time with this stitch now! Practice practice practice!!!
I agreeeeeeee! Swatches make all the difference, it’s so helpful to get a feel for the stitch before starting a big project- It can save you so much frustration by just taking the time to dip your toes in first!
Love the intro and then the "let's do it". Are you lefthanded??? That got me like 🤯 I'm too but I knit and crochet like a righthanded person so this is interesting 🤔
Are you using the term “faux knit stitch” and “waistcoat stitch” interchangeably bc I think that’s where I’m mentally messing up 😅 I bought ur jasper pattern so I’m trying to master this stitch ! ❤
@@kierstinpainter5942 not interchangeably! The waistcoat stitch refers to that modified single crochet that's worked between the legs of the stitch from the previous row, the Faux Knit Stitch refers to the repeating pattern of *waistcoat stitch into the following stitch, chain 1, skip 1 stitch*
You can sub out the waistcoat stitches for regular single crochets if you're having trouble, or if this stitch is hard on your hands! She can be a bit tricky sometimes for sure! You'll lose the "V" shape of the waistcoat stitches, but you'll still get the same silhouette if you use it for my Jasper or Impact patterns :)
@@esras4935 it shouldn't hurt, no. You could be crocheting too tightly, it's easy to do with this stitch since the waistcoat stitches overlap. Try working your stitches a little looser or size your hook up!
Really great video!! I always love seeing this stitch in your work ❤ can't wait to see more 🎉

Hehe thank you! Yessss haha I'm a leftie!! 😂😂
The Impact dress is stunning and I’m currently working on it. So far this faux knit stitch is giving me trouble and I’m not sure why 😭

Is there an alternative stitch? I can’t grasp this concept 😭😭

The chunky yarn makes it way harder to understand. Regular yarn is fine we’re not idiots!!
This stitch is a pain in the a** to crochet for me.. is that normal? 🥲 20min in n my left hand already hurts 😂 any tips? :(
