Running leave you with niggles or achey pains? Here's how you can build strength to keep you running pain-free for longer!
Running is so beneficial to develop muscle endurance, cardio health and co-ordination.... but it gets a bad rep because usually we don't have the foundation for such high reps!
You can do around 150 reps per MINUTE when you run!
So it becomes just a "oh I can't run, it always hurts my knees/ankles/hips/back/etc."
But even if you feel this wway all is not lost!
You can use skipping at home to build up your body to be super resilient & have fun!
In the video we go over:
• A solid warm up
• Skipping drills you can practice
• Fun skipping variations to progress to
Whether you're smashing out marathons or love the occasional mile, watch those times & injury rates fall as your body becomes stronger 🥳

I needed that just right now! Afraid of going back running after an injury…..Thank you guys!
You’re welcome!!
While I don't have it in me to do distances, I like the idea of having the strength and flexibility to be able to run short distances. It's been so long since I even considered it, I didn't know where to start. Thanks for the pointers.
I’ve tried skippin’ ‘round the gym, but the other fellas started callin’ me Skippy!
Cool nickname! Keep it going!
That's my name 🎉😂❤
@@skippy6462 And my last name’s Walker!
Are Criss Cross and Crossovers the same thing? You got me! Also, you guys make great, concise, information dense! Don't ever change the format! I can find out the information I need to without having to watch a 9 minute video.
yeah 😅 One was meant to be your feet crossing and the other your arms crossing! But we didn't realise the mistake until it was too late! Good spot!
And thank you!!
Thank you for the breakdown
Excellent video! Thanks JP & Jenni 💪 Even more variation to add to my SMM routine 🙌
Our pleasure! 😄
Thank you for another great RUclips. I will be jumping today.
Have fun! 😄😄
I have tried to have the coordination to skip rope 😂 it's painful and hilarious. But I definitely need to try this progression. I've discovered my limitation in the deep squat is my ankle flexibility and this seems like it'll help.
yeah! Jenni found it was her ankles that help her back in running too, skipping really helps to build that up 💪💪
I haven't skipped for yonks. I bought a fab set of skipping ropes too! Is it ok to skip on a concrete driveway (wearing running shoes)? It won't damage my knees? Loved all that whip-crackaway, JP!
Yes that’s ok! Just built up your time duration slowly over a few weeks 😄
👍👍
Pretty good but my problem is while I can run in place moving forward is a problem for me. How can I make jumping rope fix my running stride? Thanks
You can actually skip while travelling forwards, there are other ways to work on your stride but it could be a nice one to try - running WHILE skipping to get used to picking your knees up and using your ankles iin a more active way!
What injuries specifically are they preventing? (Or minimising)
Plantar fasciitis, shin splits, calf strains, and the usual knee, hip or back pain you can see runners experience from not having this level of spring in their step 😄
Here from tiktok ad lol ❤
Awesome!
@@TomMorrison omg u read my comment 🥰 well sir you've earned my respect lol. I stumbled upon your tiktok and after 12 yrs at a desk job ohhh the pain that plagues me. I look forward to trying your demonstrations and advise.
crossovers and crisscross are the same, no?
yes good spot - the feet are meant to cross during criss cross! Oops!
Will buy a rope. And what are your thoughts on rebounding? 😃
It’s great, can combine it with this too
Im way too much of a klutz to skip rope. That would require coordination
a simple skip doesn't require too much coordination, and is very beneficial!
@@TomMorrison can you do a prequel #Short that covers rope length and wrist motion maybe?
I encouraged a friend to take up jump rope. His way of getting into it was to double-hop, ie, hop over the rope every other jump. I think that's still the technique he uses, but last I heard, he's able to do 100 unbroken. He's 70.
My knee is too destroyed for that 🥴
you can try small bounces without the rope at first! Or, to bring it back even further working on single leg balance is an amzing place to start!
