    Good tips. I’d do all the drills barefoot. Establish good running biomechanics - keep feet under hips when running, don’t over-stride. Strengthen posterior chain 👍🏼

    Had knee surgery in 2020 and last year I was able to work my way up to jogging 4 times a week in a month but at the end of the 2nd month and beginning of the 3rd month my knees drastically hurt so I have been doing knee strengthening excersies 3-5 a week since August. Going to add this on top of my drills for 2 or 3 days a week so in March I can hit the track again.

      Hey, I had more or less as you. Knee fractured, meniscus surgery and ligaments on 2021... I'm going to run the half marathon of the city I live this year, back to jiujitsu and running everyday 5k and weight lifting. What I'm saying the trick, for me, first of all completely completely rest till the point that my leg was a Chinese chopstick, then lot of stretching and walks, long walks, walking backwards and forward (feeling ridiculous sometimes 😅) and when I was completely secure I started to lift weights plus loooong walks....and I'm also 49 years old....but basically before even thinking to run was waaaaalks whole day long basically....and stretching and the weights, before to do strength with them. Hypertrophy, muscle growth to cover all our bones tendons etc....less injury

    I have a herniated thoracic disc and x2 bulging cervical disc, do you think running is OK, I'm a long distance runner and am hoping to run a spring marathon, I'd imagine most of the impact is in the lumbar spine, I'm at 13miles ATM.
    Keep up the great work

    • @TomMorrison
      @TomMorrison  5 месяцев назад +4

      Yes, absolutely! Just make sure to keep strength work as part of your overall training, especially in periods that you feel totally fine! That’s when the good habits slip 😄

    Hips, glutes, ankles...worked a bit on these randomly and gotten a bit better with aches. But probably need to do something consistent. Also weird nerve issue in upper legs, like the start of a limp without stopping me from running. Sort of a mild electric shock when I put weight on it. I think most runners must have some sort of niggle at least. Especially those of us running down very uneven trails.

    Has anyone got any tips for leg cramps in the middle of the night? I have tried the obvious things like hitting electrolyte needs daily (1L coconut water and 2.5l+ of water), magnesium before bed, stretching, massage gunning, etc. It's sporadic and can go away for months, but if I overdo mobility exercise in a specific way, then they cramp around 1am. It doesn't seem to be hydration or general overuse like weightlifting or work, so I was wondering if anything particular is causing my muscles to stay on after mobility training? It's like they're used to being off and weak, but I've woken them up with the mobility stuff and now they don't regulate turning off

    What do you think about shockwave therapy If somethiny doesnt heal properly?

    • @TomMorrison
      @TomMorrison  5 месяцев назад +2

      I tried it when I had patellar tendonitis that flared really badly, as long as there’s no limitations with movement in any joints surrounding where it is then I would consider it, if your flexibility and stability is poor I wouldn’t waste the money until you have cleared that up 😄

      @@TomMorrison Sadly I have a bursitis which didnt heal properly cuz I been an idiot. Could Shockwave help healing it quicker and reduce pain? Because I am tired of living like that. I have a lot of stiffness but because of the inflammation my muscle always stays stiff and stretching worsens it.

    Walking does hurt, but my feet, even with ankle braces, good shoes. If I walk more than few minutes it hurts. I've not been running much, but that never hurt me, but walking did. Had since I was a kid, early teens.
    I use ankle braces, for mountain biking, cus my ankles are unstable, and bad when riding and hiking up, once it I seem to have twisted my ankle causing pain for weeks, but that went away, but not had any ankle pain since, but still hurts when walking. Braces helped, but not with the pain from walking, as it's the whole foot that hurts, at the ball of the foot too. It was in mountain biking shoes with a stiff sole, but bends at the ball of foot for walking. But stable shoes. But I've had this issue with sneaked, running shoes.
    Any advice on this issue?
