    Great work as always. From experience I would squirt some spray foam under that 2” insulation. Over time it will vibrate and squeak and drive you crazy.
    On some vehicles I built I had similar heating pads and found them ineffective on the top of the tank and needed to remove them and place them on the bottom. I also had issues with the tubing freezing and put in some heat traces to deal with that.

      Is going to look a lot like the Arc from the TV series. Seems like i remember a lot of jetpack flying in the series as well. You need to get one of those Rocketeer packs operarional! Hey, Craig A you reading these comments?

    Great Progress! Not 2nd guessing, but those washers under the Alum plate are still a "shear threat" - why not go to something like 2" dia. while you're there...

      I guess we need to do a calc. What is the pull through strength of 3- 1 inch washers in 1/8 6061 t-6 aluminum? And sometimes you just can't wait for one more order (of hardware) to come in to move the job along. I had the 1 inchers on hand.😉

    You heated the top of the tank can I ask why not put the pad on the bottom
    Great build thanks for sharing

      The type of silicone heating pad we used can not take the weight (or at least the shifting weight) of the tanks/water on top of them. I may be able to service them on top with a lot less effort as well. Thanks for the question and following the build. Glad to see some RVrs coming to the channel.

    That Aircraft wire is called Safety wire or at least thats what we called it in the marines.

    • @pivotalevent
      @pivotalevent 2 года назад +2

      Safety wire it is, and if you used it in the Marine corp, then you know a small amount is no good - The bigger the blob the better the job!

    The cab looks awesome! Fighter jet awesome. Fresh, shiny Aluminium FTW! Your blind threaded rod inserts to hold the tank looked magical - well done on such accurate locating. Curious what the hole in the roof of the cab is for? Air con or swivel turret mounted 50 cal? ;-) Love this project to bits, great work, looking forward to more.

    On the sub frame how high does that sit above the main frame? I an effort to keep the total height as low as possible, what is the minimum separation between the frame and subframe?

    • @BuilderCreator
      @BuilderCreator  11 месяцев назад

      I have placed the subframe 16 inches above the chassis frame for several different reasons. First, it allowed me room between the frames to mount water and gray water storage. Second, it allowed 8 inches of upward wheel travel without having to have wheel wells protruding into the cabin. And finally, it is still low enough that the rear door can fold down, acting as the staircase, and not be too high.

    • @gator701
      @gator701 11 месяцев назад

      I'm concerned about the habitat being top heavy and placing the subframe too high off the ground. The subframe requirement is about main frame twist. Too many builders use a habitat construction that is vulnerable to twist damage, based on lightweight engineering and glued joints. Planning some twist isolation is obvious, but how much is still not understood by me.
