Miki, consider going to therapy. From my side I wish you to realize that life isn't only about achievement - but simply about living. Maybe if you do, you'll have way more things to add to your lucky list. Didn't sun shine? Didn't it rain? Didn't water run through your pipes? Didn't you have food to eat? There is so much to love about life. I genuinely wish you to find the happiness and I hope your 2024 will bring peace and health ❤

I would suggest removing the bell off of Lily’s collar, cuz cats are very sensitive to sounds. I see that you have an AirTag on her, so you shouldn’t have to worry too much about not able to locate her without her bell.

Miki, Kevin, lily and lucky (hehe) but mainly for miki & Kevin - you can feed her the upper limit of her feeding, but keep her on a time schedule. She’s just growing so she’s hungry all the time. But when she gets into her adult stages (around 9 months) after you get her spayed, she’s going to gain weight rapidly. So you’re going to have to ween her off of food. You don’t want her to be obese. So keeping her on a timely schedule is good for the cats brain & also lets her know when she’s supposed to eat!
Just a tip I learned from my kitties vets. They are both 1.5 years old and in perfect body condition!
    Love you all!! ❤

I love how on her lucky list there is more things that I have done in the last 10 years in my life (all the traveling, trying new things, proposal etc...) and still its a failure for her. Some people are so happy in their lifes and tey dont even recognise it. I am 34 and realised I have the same problem - I am nothing without my work, I do noting else then work (even with my boyfriend we do nothing then work and watch movies together) and still we are living in a small rented flat, no money saved (and we are not traveling, not going to restaurants, buying nothing but the necesities). Life feels hard to manage.

As a tiny kitten, I veer on the side of letting her eat more, but also don’t just leave food out for her. let her get used to meal times. She’s growing so she needs the extra calories. However, she also grew up outside, so she probably is always hungry and scared of not knowing when her next meal is, so it also just might be a mental thing. For now, until about a year old, let her have a bit more to eat! She’s not going to get fat.

Good thing is, when you look back on 2023 a few years from now, you'll probably only remember it as the year you welcomed Lily into your life 💛 (and of course the other important things like getting engaged, lol). As for her appetite, it's a kitten thing! Kittens need that extra food to grow, so it's not a bad thing that she's always hungry (not to mention that she did come from having little to no food as a stray). For the first year of their lives, I basically free-fed my cats dry food, and timed their wet food for 3 times a day at 6 hour intervals. After they turned a year old, we slowly started taking away their dry food during the day and transitioned to wet food twice a day, and we leave out their dry food out all night if they get hungry when we're asleep. Don't sweat the recommended feeding portions, especially for a kitten. She looks happy, you're doing a great job-- You got this!

I just turned 33 and so far 27 and 28 were the worst years for me. I think it's a crisis age for many people! I worked at a company with very toxic culture and my pay was absolute crap. I moved into the worst apartment with paper thin walls and my neighbors were nuts and very noisy! To go with it I had health problems and felt like I was going to loose my mind. I'm glad to be over that hump!

This felt so relatable. 2023 passed by in a blur. I didn't achieve any of my goals either. I think after the first 3-4 months I just kind of gave up on the year amounting to anything. I stopped my side hustle, I gained about 7-8 kgs bringing me to my highest weight ever. But I already know that's not how 2024 is going to be. I can feel a much much more positive energy going into this year.

When I got my kitten last year, he was the same way. My vet recommended I free feed up until 10 months since they can’t get overweight at that age, then at 10 months, transition him to a fixed schedule with 2-3 meals.
I free fed him kibble and air dried raw throughout the day, then gave him his raw food for dinner. Now, he’s just over a year old, and he gets dried food in the morning and raw at night. He still begs for more food, but I’m more cautious now with over feeding than when he was a kitten.

JFC, if taking a month long trip to Asia, countless other trips within US, and taking a biz class fight to Singapore right after getting engaged is being counted as the worst year of your life, then jeez everyone else life must also suck. You did MORE travelling in one year than most people do in their lifetime. Like it's so funny when influencers who live in their own bubble talk about how they've had a rough year. Girl you have NO idea what a rough year looks like. You've had a stable income and a permanent roof over your head. What about those who were laid off, what about those who were forced to sell their houses cos of high interest rate and downsize or move to apartments. Those people had a rough year, not you.

I did not raise my cat from birth but his foster mom did share with me some of the things she did when she was taking care of him and all his siblings. Basically she would feed the kittens the recommended amount of wet food based off the package instructions and then leave a high quality dry food out for them to graze on whenever they felt hungry. Another thing to consider is the brand of cat food. You probably have experience with this finding food for Lucky but all cat food is not created equal. Cheaper food will probably be really tasty to them but have more filler, by produccts etc. I trust the Authority brand but the decision of what to feed them (and not break the bank) can actually be rather complicated because they're obligate carnivores. Take your time and give yourself grace if you don't get it right the first time.

Dry food is bad for cats, but vets recommend it, since they get money from advertisements. That's why you see whole food packages in their offices. Just imagine doctors would push specific foods or companies you should buy from. Doesn't sound so ethical now, does it?

With kittens I would sugget to let them eat when they want it.I just let my cat eat when he wants lol basically, his bowl is always has some kibble in it. And my cat kinda figures out how much he needs to eat. Its been working nicely , he is over 3 years old an at a healthy weight. Whenever I would try to feed him on a schedule he became obsessed with food and always hungry. There is a good video on youtube by canadian vet that is about cats' nutritional intelligence. Most of them just know how much to eat and when to stop

60-100g is the amount you would feed a small sized adult dog/cat based on activity level and weight. As a kitten/puppy, you should def be feeding them more because they have so much energy and growing to do. If you're not sure, would recommend you have a chat with your vet to help better guide you.

I got my baby when she was that tiny.
    1. Feed her wet food twice a day. I would recommend adding little bone broth to their wet food
    2. Keep kitten dry food in a bowl accessible to her all the time. Free feed her. Don’t worry about fat kitty right now. At some point they stop eating it.
    3. Get a water fountain.
They grow super fast next 3months.. play as much as you can ❤

I've always had cats over 30+ years now & I've never rationed their food. I just fill their bowl as needed & they always eat what they need. My cats have never been over weight since I don't feed them table food without pulling their bowls for a few hours. Plus kittens hunger will quickly grow daily. Those measurements are only suggestions on what to give them. You have to decide what your cat's metabolism is to provide a good ration for them if you're going to feed them on a schedule. Again, cat's don't need this kind of feeding since they know when they are full. Dog's are more prone to over eat which is why it's best to control their feed. Controlling a cat's feed is more a human need to want to make that an interaction for ourselves with them.
So overall, just figure out where her level is for feeding.

I really relate to what you have shared. I have also previously loved working and what it gave me in return: status, money(financial freedom), and the best sense of achievement and satisfaction.
But this does come with trade off, less quality time with family and friends and self care.
It’s great that you are reflecting of what work and achievement means to you!
That’s part of our personal journey, when you reach to the point when what use to makes you happy no long does the same thing, it means you are growing, and you have outgrown your old self.

i wish you'd stop saying 2023 was a failure but the best year of your life. you're measuring success all wrong. success is being happy and fulfilled. not making more money than the previous year. you place an enormous value on your monetary value and while fiscal responsibility is important, it doesn't measure your success in life. you have a lot of growing up still to do and making goals toward personal fulfillment and personal growth and personal happiness is so much more important in life. as you grow up you will see that money comes and goes.. some years are profit, some years are loss, but the measure of your life is not in silver spoons but in joy and peace and love and happiness and growth as a human being. goals are fine, financial goals are great, but don't place that as the measure of your life's accomplishments.

Since you are asking about the feeding, I don’t know what you have available but I give to my cat wet canned food only, and I make sure the meat is of high quality. My family used to have a 9-10 lbs Yorkie. Yorkies don't eat much. I do know dogs will eat as much as you give them. So you have to monitor how much food you give them. They'd get fat if you let them eat too much food (like humans). Never had a cat (allergic to cat fur) but like cats. Can't touch my eyes or mouth if touch a cat. And best to avoid breathing in cat dander.
I think it would be best to give the kitty a variety of food, portion according to it's size and establish feeding times. You could leave a SMALL dish of dried cat food out (and water) so the kitty can nibble on something whenever it wants. For a small kitty, maybe 1/2 can in the morning and the other 1/2 in the evening.

About the kitty eating habits: answer is it depends. If a kitten/cat grows up knowing that there is (dry) food out all the time, they will self regulate and you can always have some dry food out. If the kitten/cat grows up not knowing when her next meal is, they will ravenously eat all the food they can eat whenever they see food. Lily was born outside with limited food... but is still young... so you're going to have to experiment and see if she will leave food in the bowl at some point. If you double, triple the amount of food and it's gone instantly, then you probably need to control portions forever. If she starts leaving food in the bowl and just snacks on it every now and then, good chance she will self regulate in the future. Keep portioning out wet food and treats; you'll want to use those to teach her tricks/behaviors.

The vet told us is normal and cat usually doesn’t overeat, not like dogs. So we gave her more food than her supposed to be daily allowance. And after a few months, she starts to just eat normally. I guess lily is just catching up with her normal weight. 😊

i've had my cat since she was 3 months old and interestingly enough she is not fond of wet cat food. i just have two types of dry food out so she could go and eat it whenever she wants! however, she is literally addicted to the churu cat treats. actually any brand with that type of lickable wet tubed cat treat she will love so she gets one of those every night for dinner (she used to get 3 a night thanks to my mom but that caused some serious diarrhea lol...). i'd def agree with another comment to feed her the recommended wet food amount and let her free feed dry food.

Cats will always be hungry until they are chubby lol. Dont let her manipulate you or she will be really annoying XD Feed her based in calories instead of other measurements

Actually I also do feels the same way, as I hear you talking about it I also reflected on my own 2023. However I do feel bad that 2022 was more productive and was doing better than 2023, I would still love to applaud myself by taking more time and space off in 2023 and creates better mental health. So there’s the balance there. I hope you heal better as times goes by ❤ love your content as always, it makes me feel therapeutic. ❤❤❤

lol Lily livin' up to her KITTEN energy Mama Miki 😅😹 don't bother too much with the measuring of her meals, just let her eat what she can and you keep track of how much she's "had enough" for that meal so you'll know how much to serve her next meal (I strongly suggest to do timed meals as opposed to free-feeding /round the clock; basically she eats when Pet Parents / Doggie Bro eat 👍.). also take note that Lily may be having some "stray habits" in that she binges all the food thinking there won't be any food later. its kinda a tough bad habit to break spesh during the voracious phase of kittenhood, but asure her that she'll never starve and hopefully she'll grow out of her stray habits.
also lotsa 🤗💖 about your tough 2023 Miki, but you did get ENGAGED 😍💞💍, thats the ultimate Lucky List that makes everything else-- including the awesomeness of years before-- pale in comparison. so to me I think your 2023 is the best year 🥰. hoping your 2024 is both innovative and impressive 💞💞💞💞

2023 was the worst year of my life too. There were a lot of unexpected, good moments, but there were also just a lot of bad ones. Thank you for being transparent about such things. Here's to a better year ahead for all of us!

Since your a workaholic, start trading. Have more free time in your life to enjoy and destress! Oh btw try soya or pea clumping litter, have an open litterbox and feed your pets raw food, cats are obligate carnivours. They are built for it. Cheers!
