Hi Alec just seen this as I'm new to the hobby, it's an amazing scape you've created I have just started my own system do you have any tips ? thoughts of what I could add if you were able to see what I've done so far ??
I love these interviews from you George! I don't always comment, but I love the peaceful conversation, getting to meet the various aquarists and scapers in a lovely chat enjoying a wonderful tank! Cheers!
An absolutely gorgeous tank, it`s beautiful. 🙂 Thank you for letting us into your home and for the chat. I have learned patience and also to remember that walking backwards off the top step while glass cleaning hurts.
I was trimming and replanting some plants while watching this..at one point I stopped looking at the screen and was just listening to the conversation. It felt like there's a couple of friends around me talking about aquascaping while I was maintaining mine... We usually dont have too many friends in this hobby physically present with us. This video sure helped me to get into the flow... Thanks to both of you for showing the beautiful aquarium and keeping us company..
The lessons I've learned that have made a huge difference in the rest of my life are "Everything's an experiment and it's OK to fail" and "The line between a creative idea and fruition isn't straight or necessarily short. Creativity is a process". This tank is absolutely gorgeous. I hope to become this skilled some day.
As someone who only recently got into aquascaping post-military, in large part for therapeutic reasons, there was a strange comfort in seeing/hearing a discussion about the hobby through the specific lens of veteran's perspective (and CIED more specifically). It was compounded that it was from one of the main inspirations via RUclips and your book. Thankyou for the lovely work.
Love your channel George and the ethos behind the hobby as well as how it focusses the mind . I am retired from the emergency services and have started a hobby that I had with my late father. The desire for a bigger tank is slowly becoming a reality.i find peace with this as I do my pond. Well done George I can relate.
What a thoughtful and thought provoking video. The tank is absolutely lovely, I could look at it all day. I think the lesson I am learning from aquascaping is how powerful the effect can be when we surround ourselves with what brings us peace and joy. Thank you.
WOW!!! I can only dream of creating something that even distantly approaches that! Although, if I had an aquascape like that, I'd never get anything done as I'd be sitting there everyday staring at it mesmerized.
Your tank is so beautiful. I used to have fish tanks and I miss having them. It's a very expensive hobby and it's a labor of love. I would sit for hour's along with my other pet's and just watch the fish. So relaxing and serene. It helped to quiet my mind and was very meditative.
Totally unbelievable... how do you get to this... such a variety of plants and all healthy and lush growth and an amazing carpet... and not a single spot of algae on the leaves
I love the weight on the top of the scape here. It breathes so well with the gap in the middle. The "tree" is such a good place for the fish to interact with and hide under. It's really thought out well and I'd be so interested in how that has shown certain fish behavior opportunities.
Beautiful tank. I like how the plants at the top drip down over the gap in the middle. Everything looks healthy. Lesson that i learned: if you like it and are instrested to fabrikate somehing, go for it.
Magnificent aquarium and sincere discussion. Thank you for yet another fulfilling experience. My gradually strenghtening lesson is being true to yourself, trusting your intuition and preferences when creating a scape. Much more rewarding that way. And patience, perseverance, of course.
This is a really beautiful aquascape, Alec should be proud of how well he has nurtured this set up, both flora and fauna are thriving. Everything is so clean and well presented 👌🏻🙌🏻 A nice video, thanks for sharing, and I’d say one thing I’ve taken from aquascaping is don’t give up….
Lesson 1: You can have too many tanks! My tank numbers steadily climbed during lockdown. I am now breaking tanks down. Too many tanks gave me stress instead of joy. Your friend's tank is gorgeous!! I have a 125 gallon that will be redone very soon. My Oscars are moving to a 100 gallon rubbermaid tub with the goal of getting them a 300 gallon tub once I relocate. An aquascape on this level is the goal!! RUclips notifications are whack-a-doodle crazy. I had to hunt for this video.
Absolutely fantastic. And yeah, I very much agree with taking care of things in your own body. I just had to have several scary medical procedures for something i should have gotten checked sooner. Powerful scape and video!
The lessons I've learned is that sometimes, things that tank a long time to go bad take a long time to fix. Also, From aquarium keeping in general, I've learned how to better take care of my own body and health.
My lesson, is to look after myself as well as I look after other things. And not to neglect my needs to look after things that aren't as important in the long term.
Boah! 😉
Lessons: living things do not stay the same, change is inevitable and so is loss - fish do eventually die, but with care and patience living things can be regenerated and even propagated - corydoras catfish will breed and young mature, live bearers will establish sustainable populations.
@@GeorgeFarmerStudiosIt's a two-way street I see. Well they made a great choice you're one of the best in the industry Keep up the great work my friend
Lesson for me has been listening to my fish. Are they putting up with their home or are they happy with their home. So my scapes change according to their likes. When the fish avoid an area that area then needs to change. Of course my aquascapes are not as ladden with wood and rock. Plenty of plants
The main lesson I've taken away from aquascaping is patience. Everything in its own time, and each scape takes its own time to mature- you can't rush, there are no shortcuts (though CO2 helps, as would an endless plant budget!).
I can’t believe your a fellow Veteran George I never knew 13 years here got out in 2020. Keep up the good work love your videos.
George has made multiple videos on how aquascaping saved his spirit from being destroyed by PTSD
Beautiful, complex tank. Hubby is a retired EOD officer with decades of experience. Bless you for your work.
Thanks for coming to see the scape, mate. Loved the catch. Let's do it again ❤

Hi, there is some algae in the tank. A low level of green spit algae. But the vast majority of plants are doing great.
Beautiful tank and a nice connection between friends.
I think I learnt to adopt the pace of nature in everyday life taking in the things around me
Absolutely loved the aquascape. Would love to see a video or photos of the journey of making this aquascape.
Amazing. Simply just amazing. ❤
Thank you both. That is an outstanding tank!
I've come away from this video with much to think about.
Thank you gentlemen for the awareness.
Inspirational video Alec & George. Wish you both all the best and thank you for everything.
Thank you. It was a real pleasure to be part of the process

This is really beautiful - great work! I'll say patience, too, as lesson no 1. Number 2: stay openminded

Very takashi amano style scape? Love it! It’s nature therapy! Thanks for sharing George!

wow, beautiful
Something alien, almost Martian, abut the hardscape before it was planted. And just as breathtaking. Stunning stunning tank.

Love ya George I’ll be watching in the morning here in NZ 🇳🇿
Accept change (dont fight the aquarium) and move forward.
Fabulous
Patience and not stressing over little things.
To answer the question: persistence, still fucked up, still trying...
wow so amazing, any someone recommend to feed them fast to big like that, seem i try at my farm so very very slow to grow

Is substrate inportant ?
Very important. I use crushed lava rock > ADA power sand > ADA Amazonia v2
How sustainable and how mature is that aquascape?
It's about 7 months old, I certainly see it running for another 12 months.
@@alecmaxfield8017 thank you. What a gorgeous tank it is.
Question: What’s the temperature of your tanks there?
All my tanks are around 21c. I try to keep them as low as I can.
wow, I guess with the kind of climate you have there's it is possible without having chiller. @@alecmaxfield8017
