Great review. I was going to buy a knockoff on Amazon, but now I'm not. Iconic Mars seems to be a great choice over Kaotica Eyeball (probably high-cost due to all of their advertising).
Aston rocks. I got the Element, think the Iconic Mars will match well? Just put my order in. I do have other mics so if it doesn't match, it's not all a loss. My Element is just my fave right now.
The filter does hold the sibilance in the recording. I can hear it through the speaker phone itself. But the problem with all these circular mic isolators (eyeball, comet, Alcatron) is that since it’s literally surrounding the mic, it’s boosting the lower mids. And you can’t really EQ that out since embedded with the voice recording, if that makes sense. But these are handy when you have no treatment in your room or for podcasting
This exactly! The proximity effect is insane on this stuff, which will give you vocals that are way too heavy on the low mids. Decent for voiceovers or podcasts, but useless for recording music with. I also hear some phase issues in the high frequencies, the recording without the Comet sounded way better.
I use on the neuman tlm 102 and it sounds good but I’m just worried because the 102 is small and ends up in the middle of the foam im just hoping it doesn’t affect the sound
I know this is an old video but was curious what shock mount you use with your spirit? It doesnt look like the aston shock mount. I have the spirit and it came with an aston shock mount but the damn mic slides down constantly.
it's not. I own it and I can tell you it isn't. The iso armor is just the cheap foam they sell on amazon or china. But the one in the comment is closer to the eyeball.
It's a better build and dose a better job. My pf8 didn't last long cuz the foam was the cheap stuff you get from Amazon. But if money short it's not a bad product.
Idk. I had the eyeball. And after 2 years I noticed what I mentioned. But maybe since the alcatron is less dense foam. It might have more “freedom” sounding ? As to wear the eyeball had thick foam. So it picked up everything that went to the mic and the eyeball itself.
The iconic mars comet is a foam piece of SHIT!! I noticed on a few youtube videos about this crap, the people are ALREADY in a quiet studio environment. So i bought this shit and put it in my bedroom with a brand new sterling sp150 microphone.I recorded a commercial voice over and i hear the dead ass 9 volt battery chirps of my old smoke alarms that are about 20 feet away!!!! And I hear cars passing by on the damn street and I live on the SECOND FLOOR in my building! This is a $99 piece of bullshit!!!
You do realize this is intended for sound absorption and not sound proofing? It isn't intended to block outdoor noise. It's a bonus if it does, but sound dampening has nothing to do with blocking out unwanted noise.
I have to disagree. Owning both and working with different vocalists male and female, the Mars Comet came out with a clear win, on the go this is the ideal option for writers camps and the like, superior quality for half the price. I would definitely recommend.
It definitely cut out the background noise, but it sounds like it boosted the mids on your vocals. Though that can always be fixed with some eq.

So should I get one of those or a reflection filter
Bro you can always fix the vocals with some eq
@@danoontjeh123 pop smoke and rod wave have recorded huge hits off of these kind of reflection filters
thank you bro!
It sounds like it muffles your voice. The PF8 is that deal. I haven’t heard any ball better than it and it’s at a great price.
How do you like that Aston Spirit?! I am thinking about buying one for rap vocals.
Love it I think it's the best mic you can get for under 500$ that and the SM7b Those have been my go too for years now.
@@MrDifferentTV Thank you! I am going to buy one this weekend!
ayo i just watched your Iso armor review do you think this is better than that?

how good is the pop filter should get diff one?
Go ahead a record an EP for us with each one of them and let us hear them.
instablaster...
Can this fit Neumann tlm 102/3
Just ordered one
Would u perfer this over the iso armor 2?
so i know you are saying this is better than the alctron pf8, but what about the auray iso armor 2? The foam in that is a lot better quality
it's not. I own it and I can tell you it isn't. The iso armor is just the cheap foam they sell on amazon or china. But the one in the comment is closer to the eyeball.
@@MrDifferentTV Thanks for the reply. Just ordered one, so i will be sending my iso armor back to amazon.
Do the pop filters fit the PF8? Thank you.
i need to know this too
If you’re talking mesh ones, yes. The gooseneck needs to be set further out.
I bought Nowsonic isolator which is similar to Auray what do you think about it?
Never heard of it now I'm going to have to check it out.
I need one asap
did you know that the pf8 was made before the kaotica eyeball?
I seen that it was different looking tho and the eyeball sued then over it
@@MrDifferentTV can you see if that pop filter fits in the alctron
@@Jayshotz415 Im trying to find out the same thing

@@1JUVI1 are you saying that yhe quality of the eyeball went down over time?
Is it connected to a voice box or interface ?
you mean my mic? if so then its just plugged up to my interface.
I think they're decent, though not worth any more than £20 tops. My one was £20, works exactly the same as the Alcatron
which one do u have?
@@flamersss it's just an unbranded one from Amazon.

Facts a good song is going to sound good no matter what.
it probably sounds horrible too
Me either I use Waves NS1 and it cuts out the room echo digitally
R.i.p. Alctron PF8
All things kill that eye ball with that huge prices... really $200+ for a piece of foam that does not worth more than $7 bucks.
Well his bathroom has less echo than my room :/
I do have some sound panels up a few go a long way.

Not really
