Really neat thing. nothing wrong with putting a power lead in so long as it's packed properly. However I too have had some damaged because of mains plugs, though generally if they're packaged badly enough that the mains plug can damage them they're going to get damaged anyway.
Thanks for watching. Yes, I don't mind if they're packed properly, but I've had too many instances now where items have been scratched, smashed etc specifically due to the plug, which was just wrapped around the unit. It's just so sad when these things had survived for nearly 50 years beforehand. I'm looking forward to this one - I'm sure it won't sound amazing, but it's gotta be fun for novelty value if nothing else! 👍
It's my favourite too - but blimey I've had some nasty arrivals. I had a Pinball Wizard this weekend with a damaged 'glass' top, as the seller posted it with the massive adaptor right in the middle of the playfield. Sometimes I despair, but what can ya do? 🙄😄
I find the biggest problem with power cords is trying to find the older style connectors ie.The oval shape or the square shaped connector that goes into the older model boomboxes or radio cassettes. They’re definitely not available in Australia, and as I have 99% National Panasonic models the original leads were discontinued many years ago.
Always wanted one of these, I have a Casio with a double cassette deck - right up my alley this. looks polyphonic, not expecting that - how many keys poly is it?
The only boombox I've ever seen with a built-in keyboard is the Sharp GF-990/MR-990 which is definitely a collector's item, expensive, rare and hard to find for sale in full working order.
Yes, there weren't many models with it as I recall. I think the 990 generally has speakers missing these days. As you say, good ones are rare, and really now for collectors, as they are getting pricey for how they sound. It would still be great to try one though!
I would have absolutely loved to have one of these when I was a kid. I can't wait to see this fixed and fully working.
I reckon this will be fun. Sounds a bit sharp, but I reckon I can make a really bad song on it 😂
Wow … Very nice boombox , nice look it’s keyboard 👌👌👌
Thanks - should be a fun one to play with 😃👍

Haha you're so right about the power cord. Especially when it's a UK type, although it is my favorite type of all the plugs I know😊
