"You can't be a good magician if you are not good with people"
I think that's one of best advices you've ever given.
This is something I figured out on the last mounths. I'm actually trying hard to be a better person, and to be better with others, with people, and I think it has a huge impact on my magic. I have less spectators thinking I just want to show off and claim that I have super powers, but more just having a good time with me.
I'm not saying that I'm particularly good, but it significantly improved my magic.
Being good with people will not only improve your magic btw. It's not about a method, or a trick. It actually not even about magic, but how you and people around interconnect.

DUDE, this was an awesome video, I totally loved it, from the begining till the end, and the trick fragmented in diferent parts it was just the coolest ideaa, I felt like I was watching some TV magic special like David Blaine's, however my favourite part was at the end when you talked about shortcuts and lazy people and that inspired myself a lot so thank you Chris for all, love ya men!!!

10:38 is huge. All us performers spend so much time on validating ourselves and forget to investigate: 1) The deeper reasons why we NEED that validation 2) How to manage our insecurities and come to terms that we DO want validation and 3) How that sense of validation and "neediness" comes across to our audience

Sean Wright In this case, it’s actually not 100%. There is a very real chance that it won’t work. That’s the curse of propless mentalism. However, it’s also the blessing, because when it does work, it’s amazing.

from where did you get the trick?
I am still a kid. Im 17 years old. Ive dabbled in mentalism but I am definitely taken as seriously as id like to be. I am interested in using the resources youve given me to be taken seriously and know how to do it right. I started doing magic tricks as a little kid and its been a great tool in helping me get over social anxiety. Even if my hands shake like crazy everytime I do it. It has been a great outlet to help get over my fears and entertain others
Hands down, one of your best videos man, you've given your viewers the path and keys to something mysterious (even for people practicing magic for a long time) that is mentalism. Thanks for that.

Touching on the "grey area", I love doing tricks that make it seem like it is a mentalism trick simply because it always makes it seem more difficult and believable.

I appreciate this style of video. Directing people to resources to learn makes it so people interested in devoting time to the magic know where to look but your non-magician or less ambitious viewers still can enjoy your quality video productions. Great video!

Love the brutal honesty.I'm 38 and only recently started considering magic and mentalism, once 13 steps turns up in the next couple of weeks I'll make a directional decision but for now royal road is keeping me busy. Couldn't agree more that there are and should be no shortcuts.

I did the magic cube 20 years ago with a group of strangers. It revealed that one of the women had had an abortion.That's when I stopped using the method.

I’ve only been practicing magic for two years now. And on this journey I can say with out a doubt, you are 100% correct! There are no shortcuts in this field. I’m constantly working to improve and widen my knowledge. The moment you start trying to take shortcuts is when you start becoming a hobbiest and not a real magician. There’s no point in doing something if you’re just gunna half ass it. If you’re half adding it, might as well full ass it right? So please. Take the time to read or go out and find some people that can share their knowledge with you. Then practice until you have mastered a single move. The first sleight i ever learned was the half pass and even though it’s simple and easy, I still work on it every day. There’s never time to take a break if you want to get better. So yourself a solid and practice properly!
10:15 that is so true and i struggled with it. Until I actually fooled my whole class and even school at one point now i preform in front of my school at assemblies and people started to think, like, wow this kids the real deal. That is all thanks to you so thanks. You have helped me out so much! Even after that some people do still think "aw that kids cute hes doing magic." Also, do number 1 lol

Loved this discussion on mentalism. I’ve always been curious about it but have never devoted the time to really learn it. Also thanks for providing resources to check out. For me when I’m just showed how to do something I don’t learn it. When I’m given resources though and learn through those resources and try and fail only then do I truly understand something.

I know nothing about the book but I wanna learn and taking that step to buy a book is how I’ll do it so thank you for putting the link below the video. That’s help enough. So glad I found this vid. I’ve recently finished 13 Steps. Awesome stuff but the propless stuff is so cool and with all the “resources” out there it’s impossible to know what’s going to be legit. I totally understand what you were saying. because I'm around 13 years old and I go to show someone a card trick and you can really tell they not taking you seriously... 5 min later I do a DPS and their mind explodes!!!
