To all of you saying that their guns are ineffective, the guns they are using could be quite effective if used properly. It looks like they are aiming for the limbs which leaves the bug still 86% combat effective. Here's a tip, aim for the nerve stem and put it down for good.
You know the more I read the comments the more I realised that the people who are here in the comment section put more thought into the base and army tactics in a few minutes then the whole team of writers did over the course of days and probably weeks.

The base was meant to fail from the start, the plot twist to the movie was the Sky Marshall was essentially being mind controlled and deliberately handing over the planet. He disabled the bases power while also designing the base poorly and sending nothing but recruits and civilians to a forward base. The only part that didn't make sense was sending someone as capable as Rico if they wanted to fail.

what i found interesting with the bugs in these sequels, is that they spent less time going as brutal killings as "bug-ly" possible and got more effecient in terms of one stab/slice, one kill. It shows they learned to maximize the speed of killing humans.

4 and 5 are actually technically CGI anime, which is ironic if you consider that the very first Starship Troopers adaptation was actually an anime, and stayed true to the book.
Budget of the first was 105 millions, 2nd was 7 million and 3rd was 9 million. You can definitely tell, they lack the scale, intensity and the satire that the original had. They were just made in the hopes fans of the first would be stupid enough to pay to see them.
Bugs attack by dismembering parts of their opponent. Since they are padded all over their bodies, the weakest points are within their joints. The movies showing humans being torn apart isn't just for gore to please us. It shows us the arachnids fighting style as similar to the fighting style for insects and arachnids here on Earth. Notice how the arachnids realize that humans are easily killed with a stab wound? They learned it's quicker to stab and move on then cut them apart and move on. Like the Romans they noticed how it's easier to stab rather slice and dismember.
Also the government structure concerns me. Human survival wise. They aren't fighting humans anymore, they are fighting aliens, that are 100 times stronger, faster and 10 times taller than them. An alien species capable of interstellar travel, and manipulation as well as soldiers that die and fight without fear or hesitation. Well... I have not watched this one. But I cannot help but think it is amazing how kind the bugs are, patiently waiting while the marines advance on them shooting everything they've got.
Just love how they have developed Johnny Rico's design and progress. The only part worth watching would be Casper's iconic acting and his leadership skills commanding his Small but effective Marauder Units into combat. I do have to say that i love the eye patched Rico's design and character personality in Traitor of Mars. That anime was very good in my opinion.
I'm no military expert, but this scene alone made me cry in laughter for how idiotic it was, so I decided to write 3 suggestions of how this battle could've been different: 1) Why would you make YOUR OWN trenchlines big enough for Bugs (especially 10 or 20 of them) to get in? They should've been smaller so that the fuckers couldn't overrun them and big enough for the soldiers to maneuver, ambush and/or encircle them. Just put a dozen of troopers with lots of ammunition and watch as they decimate those monsters while they desperately try to get in! 2) It's been years of this conflict, and yet they're still using ineffective 20th century weapons and ammunition because...? A war like this should be about pure Area of Effect: flamethrowers, nukes, electric weapons, or simply bombing the hell out of the Bugs, Dresden-style. Use the fricking fighters and bombers you already have, you dinguses! 3) Why didn't they make strategic killzones so that the Bugs could get stuck and disposed off easily? Just make long ditches on the ground with a bunch of ATM's so that the enemy ranks would be reduced and, if there are survivors, let them into these areas so that they could get turned into Chop Suey. Even the guys at Cadia knew how to make killzones in their homeworld and in every warzone they were in!
The second movie actually had the most effective rifle in the movie framchise. It looks odd with the blue flashes every time they shoot, but that’s because it’s using “rail gun” tech. Those blue flashes are the electrical discharge used to project the ammo to extreme speeds. Far faster than what typical powder propelled projectiles can go. It only takes a few shots to kill a bug rather than half a clip from the other rifles used in the movies.
The government or high command ordered them to. In the film series the government believes it’s troops are expendable. In a way I feel like they intentionally set them up for failure. That or they really believed those fences could hold against the bugs.
True, if they were fighting enemies with guns. It doesn't make sense why the have trenches, foxholes, murder holes. The bugs do not shoot back, so really, the marines should employ high-mobility tactics instead of hunker-down tactics
When you're going against an enemy with overwhelming numbers and melee weaponry. What are you gonna do? Hide in a bunker with little firing space which could be easily overwhelmed? Or, forced the enemy into a chock point and spread your troops into an area with maximum firing space and range? Sure, maybe staying in front of the wall isn't the best option, better than running into a bunker where there's chaos everywhere.
It doesn't even matter anyway. The gun nerfed so hard that you can count how many bugs really die by bullets in at most two hands. The damn volley of tube-launched grenades only managed to kill one bug. If you Bunker down or using one man chokepoints, the bugs can almost walk up to you and stab you without much trouble; if you go out in open space and use mass rifles, they will still overwhelmed you due to sheer durability and numbers. Plot issue aside, If I am a bug hivemind and there's a masses of enemy forming a line over there, I probably chuck a few bomb bugs there to scatter them.
Man I remember as a kid being so hyped to see the sequels.. egh.. One thing that really comes to mind is how at the start of this one they really go into how the first bug war helped them develop all these much more effective weapons... and here we see about a dozen troopers laying full auto into a mass of bugs, and maybe two die. Then half the troopers shoot off nades, and a single bug goes pop. As soon as I saw this scene the first time I lost interest in tainting the film name of Starship Troopers Gah what could have been..
Meanwhile, somewhere on a similar situation, in the 41th millenia. "Sir, the Tyrannids have broken our defensive perimeter." "Fix bayonnets." "... Sir?" *BLAM* "FIX BAYONNETS GUARDSMEN! WITHOUT DOUBT OR FEAR"
its actually interesting, you can use this to see how to do everything to fuck up a battle scene. Swear to god I thought the corporal died like 7 times.
while i like the starship troopers series, the one thing i hate about this one is that the bugs r so obviously and overly CGI that all u think is wtf when u look at them
Also, the first film had a budget of 105 million $ and the third one only had 9 million to work with. Some cuts had to be made somewhere, and it shows.
The problem isn't so much CGI but /poor/ CGI. Both Starship Trooper sequels had on a fraction of the effects budget of the original and, worse, scripts that didn't reflect that this was meant to be a negative satire of militarism and ethno-nationalist supremacism.

i just need a few howitzers on a cliff to do it properly. on klendathu there was no artillery support and that screwed them big time. thinking historically back to ww2 on D-day they had battleships providing long range artillery support to the ground troops invading. the generals in the first movie who thought it was a good idea to send troops in without air support or artillery support in my mind is an idiot
Cringey Trooper. After the first one (which is WAY better), nothing else came close... Not even SST:Invasion. so much cheesy lines, I wonder did a grade school kid wrote it.
Red Pilgrim Well you have to take the buget into consideratión. The fisrt one had a budget Of 100mil, the other two had 9mil, and 8mil. With this cuts your forced to hire cheaper actors, cheaper directors , ect.
This is one of their last stand yet again just don't cover your comrade in retreat is still present but they hold pretty good and they show a good tactic on holding off the bugs.
WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY RUNNING? THEY HAVE THE ADVANTAGE IN THE TRENCHES. Only 2 or 3 bugs are capable of squeezing into such a small space with some restriction and hindrance to movement compared to 5 or more humans who can comfortably stand/kneel shoulder to shoulder. This means the Bug's main advantage of superior numbers is negated by the man made terrain. This also allows the humans to kill the first rank of bugs and create an impromptu wall out of their corpses, that would slow down the advance of the other bugs.
I skipped to 1:02:53 to see if it's watchable and instantly saw 20 camera cuts and lots of CGI .. The first movie is 11 years older and manages it much better.
What is the name and rank of the blonde woman who screams, "DEFENSIVE POSITIONS! INCOMING!" because I always loved her accent. She sounds so badass even when she's tryna be all sad and tells Rico that the Sky Marshal died. Not to mention drop-dead gorgeous lol so the name of the actress would suffice.
Wish they'd not called it "starship troopers". Other than the names of some of the characters, it has nothing to do with the book of the same name by Heinlein. There's "artistic license", then there's artistic murder. This was the latter.
Other than the character names what I remember of the movie basically ignored the book. The equipment, the plot, the politics, just about everything. I'd call that artistic murder. Many juries would hopefully agree. I mean, they weren't even "on the bounce" since they didn't even have powered armour.
If I remember correctly, originally the first film was called "Bug Hunt at Outpost Nine" and had nothing to do with Starship Troopers (Heinlein). But then some of the team noted similarities, so they grabbed the rights and re-wrote the screenplay (partially, pretty much names and character backgrounds) so they could get some publicity from the name.
Is it me or are the bugs INSANELY much harder to kill in this movie? Rico's squad couldn't kill a single one with their bullets, the only time they killed a bug was when one of them used the grenade launcher.
Bro, look at the MP’s loyalty to Rico bro, They got ordered to keep him under arrest and when Rico punched the General they just stood there and followed him to battle

Would rather be in the 21st century US Marine Corps than the 26th century Federation Mobile Infantry.
Sadeth Cheng least you dont have to face swarm after swarms of arachnids charging at your position ready to ripped through your armor and potentially ripping you apart either slowly or quickly
movie verse wise yes. book wise they shit on UNSC Marines easily
2:50 I cried with laughter. Listen its when the bug hits a trooper, doesnt it sound like a classic man to man punch? Dont know whyi t just ound funny as hell
Who made the tactic movement for this Special Forces?
FORM RANKS FORM RANKS YOU MAGGOTS!
Pikes in front! Archers behind!
oooooooaaaaaaaooooaaaaoooh
where are all the bullets flying ??
In the first one when Rico says “kill em all” was so badass and honestly I found inspiration. But here we are three movies in and a animated film. That line is the most over used thing that when I hear it. I die a little
i just need a few howitzers on a cliff to do it properly. on klendathu there was no artillery support and that screwed them big time. thinking historically back to ww2 on D-day they had battleships providing long range artillery support to the ground troops invading. the generals in the first movie who thought it was a good idea to send troops in without air support or artillery support in my mind is an idiot
3:53 Best Buy employees on Black Friday be like
My favourite is 1 not 3 well ST 2 was not bad wanted to see Rico in that ome
Man the original ST deserved much better sequels than the garbage we got.
So for the creature effects did they use action figures from the first film?
Wait there's a 3rd movie?? And that also means a 2nd one??
Oh, just a heads up, this version seems to be a tv edit. I saw this from DVD and this scene is way more intense and gruesome than what's shown now
I really should watch all the films after the first. Perhaps they are marvellous in their horribleness?
Finally they used grenade in this part of movie
Cringey Trooper. After the first one (which is WAY better), nothing else came close... Not even SST:Invasion.
so much cheesy lines, I wonder did a grade school kid wrote it.
Red Pilgrim Well you have to take the buget into consideratión. The fisrt one had a budget Of 100mil, the other two had 9mil, and 8mil. With this cuts your forced to hire cheaper actors, cheaper directors , ect.
wow... that was disappointing after I watched the first one (again), I wish I never learned that there were any sequels...
there would be less casualties if they run and gun .. most of them just ran for their lives
This is one of their last stand yet again just don't cover your comrade in retreat is still present but they hold pretty good and they show a good tactic on holding off the bugs.
so many bullet fired,so many granade lunched, only a few hit the bug,WTF is this
Fahmi Tajjuddin Maybe Stormtroopers were guest instructors on Aiming Day...
They forgot zeroing their rifle
I tell you what it is - 9 millions budged compared to over a hundred that had the first movie (and thats 100 millions in 1997)
Storm trooper training
Whoever's responsible for this atrocity should be sentenced to Administrative Punishment. 1000 lashes.
They all just idiots. You can clearly see how Rico and his squad is doing exactly that and advances easily.
Cause they got no Rico or at least an officer with them to keep them together.
Everything, up to the movie itself, is absolute garbage.
Because they panicked and are scared thats why they run
Because giant bugs that can rip you to pieces are pretty damn scary.
3:30 This was this films Drake Vasquez scene
Producer: Let’s brings back Starship Troopers!
Executive Producer: Fantastic idea, let’s make it a PG-13.
.........
Marauder is also R Rated...
At least they learnt how to make a basic firing line.
Do both the live action sequels take place in these trenches?
I skipped to 1:02:53 to see if it's watchable and instantly saw 20 camera cuts and lots of CGI ..
The first movie is 11 years older and manages it much better.
I don't know if it's a terrible movie or just really smart satire
Omg the termits are attacking the ants base
Idk which is worse, the bugs in this one or mars
3:34 better idea, get inside and close the door
TOPOL !
मूवी रिलीज कब होगा
Good think they only made one movie 😀
Is that a AT-AT Walker I hear?
I think they need more different type of weapon. That kind of bullet doesn't seem so effective
Maybe shouldering their rifles might help
I remember the days of watching the channel "this" back on digital.
In fact that's why I clicked this video.
Wait wait wait there are three starship troopers movies.
There is 5 Starship Troopers movies now
Oh my Christ in heaven they made three of these things ?
Zergling rush against a terran outpost :(
What is the name and rank of the blonde woman who screams, "DEFENSIVE POSITIONS! INCOMING!" because I always loved her accent. She sounds so badass even when she's tryna be all sad and tells Rico that the Sky Marshal died. Not to mention drop-dead gorgeous lol so the name of the actress would suffice.
Her real name is Cecile Breccia. And she's holding the rank of Lieutenant. Lieutenant Link Manion.
Attention Attention, now planet under military command
Is this Starcraft 3 ?! Marines vs Zerglings???
The whole series is meant to be satire anyway.
The did not use the rifles this movie sucks
Did they ever learn to make tougher gates?
Is it me or are the bugs INSANELY much harder to kill in this movie? Rico's squad couldn't kill a single one with their bullets, the only time they killed a bug was when one of them used the grenade launcher.
Tyranids of Hive Fleet Leviathan breach an Imperial defensive line, M41
If this was an actual IG regiment, the commissar would fucking shoot every single one of these idiots (except Rico) for incompetence.
those Moritas aren't ideal for close quarter combat what happened to the Fleet Morita?
