I'm so glad you still have this robot going, I really want to fight it now!

It’s been great watching Blastwave evolve and improve over the years.
I’m very excited to see more of it and your other bots. Keep up the good work!

Great Video, should honestly have more subscribers and views

8:52 ayo is that bot making sparks on wooden floors?!?!? Maybe it's a ti weapon and the pain is super rough.

The top plate issues are almost entirely because they are flush to or overhang the sides. The sides are supposed to absorb damage but a vertical cutter can trivially peel off your top

Definitely not ideal on Blastwave, that's for sure! Thankfully it's a solved issue on newer robots that I haven't gotten around to making videos on yet.
I've been adding a small 2-3mm thick TPU shield around the lids on my newer beetles and it's seemed to work so far, but I definitely want to thicken it up more if I can scrounge weight from somewhere.

Few things I'd personally recommend. 1) Looks like your weapon has very little reach due to your fork geometry. I'd make the top fork less tall or non-existent and go for a chaos self right. 2) You could do tangential drive to save weight. Your wheels are already practically touching. 3) 1.5 instead of 2mm cf could be used to save weight

Nice job! Have you ever thought about latex coating on the wheels?

I've had a bottle of latex for 8 months now, but keep running out of time to use it. it's on the list for the next event if I manage to get everything else together in time!

Do you still have any of those little green Viking Multistar motors from the early iterations? I have an older bot that uses them that I can't run any more because they're discontinued, and I haven't found anything that's that exact size.

I actually just had to solve that same issue. It's not a drop-in replacement (the shaft is 5mm instead of 4), but these look pretty close. pyrodrone.com/products/eco-micro-series-1407-brushless-motor-2800-3300-4100kv
I bought a few of these to test, but need to get some lathe time to make new pulleys, so I haven't put them into the bot yet.
There are a number of other motors that look pretty similar (1406 or 1407 usually helps me find them).

Oh it's totally fine, I thought it was a change made for finals or something that I didn't hear about. Reffing seems super difficult and y'all were doing a great job all day

    Will stomp bot return

Maybe! I don't plan on competing with it in any main competitions (I'd rather bring bots with active weapons), but I really should get it together again and bring it for some grudge matches, I have plenty of wedges and chassis left to wreck :)
