Jessica Pearson it’s not cruel to spook them, if anything it’s better for the horses development lest you end up with something dangerous because it’s scared of its own shadow. I often throw my hands up near my horses face, not hitting him, just so he gets used to sudden movements. No properly trained horse should spook at a guy tripping, and not very hard at that, of course a young horse can have that exception
I just hope they don't get a Chow Chow. They aren't right for the breed. (just my opinion, I could be wrong but my family has had three. From what I know of Matt and Jesse, that breed would not be a good fit.)
Tuuli R I hope so, but in previous videos and Instagram posts Matt and Jesse both said that they’ve been traveling a lot and wouldn’t have time to care for the dog entirely. They’d most likely have to have a friend take care of the pup if they continue to travel like they are.
@@jerricho11 Most people don't go for chow chows anyway so I doubt it they'd probably end up with a labrador, golden retriever, husky- those types of breeds
It's a practice that stallions be taught to go to the wall and stand when someone enters the stall. This is for staff safety as well as good manners for a stallion. It seems extreme until you deal with a stallion. Then it makes perfect sense and no longer looks like punishment. It's not seen as punishment by the stallions, they like the structure and knowing the rules. That's where they get groomed and fussed over, on the wall, where everyone is safe.
@@LadyAkashe I think the original commenter means how these horses are too expensive to go out to pasture most times. Which I agree, I find this high-class "stable culture" really weird/off-putting.
This video helped me a lot. My old, retired lease horse passed away on Wednesday and I haven't stopped crying since but seeing that young 2 year old run around with so much energy made my heart happy.
The last yard had a very lovely vibe, more gentle than the ones before. The horses also looked soft natured and the trainer with the final horse on the longe was very grounded.
Hey Matt, a friend of mine got a horse with a fallen neck like the last stallion. With correct riding we could fixed the neck. What I saw with Emmelie you could do the same, but I understand when this is still no option for you. Just wanted to share the experience ☺️
As I understand it (I looked into it extensively while looking for my own p.r.e.) you can't actually fix it. You can support the mane with other neck muscles, that can help the look of the problem, but that does not mean it is fix sadly.
@@someonedifferent198 You can actually fix it. My horse had a fallen neck when I got him, with good riding and keeping the mane in place it got so much better, not 100% but I would say a 70%. And to correct it 100% there are surgeries🤷🏻♀️
@@YolandaFernandez1302 I guess it depends on you definition off "fixing". For me that would be a 100% cure. You could say surgery is a cure, but I think that is a big thing to put your horse though with no guarantees. On a side note horse with these type of genetic defects should not be bred, like fallen crest, especially defects that can lead to pain and discomfort, in my opinion.
@@someonedifferent198Fallen neck doesn't cause pain or discomfort to the horse, is just aesthetic. I personally won't put my horse through surgery basically because I don't care about the "aesthetic". But people that do care and have the money🤷🏻♀️ is not a big surgery, It's like a plastic surgery but for horses, and fix it 100%. Most horses with fallen neck are breed because it doesn't appear until they are old, It's strange to see a young horse with fallen neck. Hey Matt, Thank you so much for sharing your trip to Spain with all of us. I really enjoy watching the videos that you upload. I hope you're not too discouraged that you didn't find that one "special" stallion to bring home and into your family. I wish you the best in your search, and (you already know this) you are very blessed to have precious people in your life who love you so much!
That last one was a stunner and I like the way the owner handled and showed them. (Stables were a bit small). Have you given us a hint though with the SOLD sign on the title page of part one, it’s a chestnut? PS I know you both travel a lot but you really need to let Jesse have a dog he can take it with him to shows and demos in the lorry 😄
Jesse giving all the puppies some attention so sweet ! -- Matt I think that its a awesome idea you're going to be buying another amazing horse. The right one will find you on you're journeys !
Also I would have been very careful with your “favourite” horse. His pasterns, especially the front ones, were extremely long and not upright enough. Definitely would have been a lameness issue at some point. His feet looked dodgy as well, but that might be a farrier issue.
OMG Matt!!!! That first grey you rode was beautiful. And I spit my coffee out when you trip and spooked the horse. It's funnier when you keep rewinding it. Good luck with your search. Look forward to seeing what you find.
Blithe Dream Obviously I don’t know exactly why but I’d say it’s probably just a coincidence the horse is grey, and he probably wants a stallion because they hold their value more than geldings. If the horse was to get injured he can still breed....
Why should it matter? Having another horse doesn’t mean he needs to be completely different from another you already have, I think he’s looking beyond color and more into conformation, temperament, ...

Thank you for showing us your journey to finding the right horse. Your end statement is so true, only if more so called horse people would take notice of that when looking for a horse. As for me I think the same, a horse is for life so proper selection is so important.

Before he got Emporio he said he was looking for a jumping horse but then he saw the pre stallions and I assume became obsessed lol. And since pre horse arent very good for jumping he decided to just keep Emporio as a dressage horse, I assume that's what hell do with his new horse too
@@antianti328 that's not true actually, Spanish breeds make excellent jumpers, it's just that they are more often loved by dressage riders. My coach has an Andalusian sporthorse who is one of the most agile & clever jumpers I've seen.
I'm still just wondering what happened to "I'm getting a 3rd horse because Chase is "off" from competing and Emporio is too young still" 😂 And still you're here looking at 2-4 year olds hahaha?
Why not get a 5-7 year old who is already at intermediate level? Then Matt and the horse improve together and he can keep training Emporio while competing?
That first horse, the 3 year old bay with the 2 white socks, is adorable! I love him and all the rest, even the one with the fallen neck. A fallen neck used to be called a "ewe neck", back when I was a kid.
A fallen crest is not the same as an ewe neck.. an ewe neck is an s shaped neck under developed on top and coming out low in the chest.. often it is from poor development and not a genetic flaw..
I've noticed over the years trainers hide a lot of defects and faults in the horses they sell. It is good to have an experienced eye when looking at them and touching them.
I cant wait to have a PRE. Atleast these videos have made me see that i need to look at more than the beauty of the horse. Their just so dazzling to look at
Kudos to you for recognizing that fallen neck! Many people would have been blinded by the beauty of the stallion. It's a flaw that can't be fixed. Never. Don't believe what people tell you. A fallen neck will forever remain a fallen neck. It can be made to look better with a lot of training, but it will always remain fallen. Plus, a horse that has that condition shouldn't be bred.
I got very baroque 14 year old pre stallion that had fallen neck when he arrived. It went away totally and never came back. Never seen that happening but its obviously possible. He had huge high neck.
They were all so beautiful. It is to bad that the last one had a fallen neck. He was so beautiful! I also really liked the second to last one and the second one in the last video! I can't wait to see when you find one you love!

I really like the big one, at 5:35. He seems to fit and his movements... Awe... And seems as if he has some temperament :) And he was one of the few who is interested in meeting new people with ears forward and not moving away.
After seeing Chase in the July video, it dawns on me that it would be easy to train him to Western horsemanship or Hunt Seat Equitation. He clearly wants to be with you Matt and to keep working in some way. Not as challenging as Grand Prix, but certainly fun and worthwhile for Chase!
If I could offer just a tiny piece of filming advice- maybe try to hold the camera more steady when getting the shots? I’m sure some of the motion sensitive viewers are having a bit of a hard time with this one lol
investing in a camera stabilizer and or more hands to help film and edit would really bump this content to the next level. the actual quality of these videos should be good enough to reflect the content
The white and black stallions were absolutely gorgeous. I couldn’t help but laugh at the 2 year old spooking. 😂 it sometimes happens when horses aren’t as familiar with their surroundings.
7:11 I like your channel and I see all your videos but I gotta say, I am Spanish, I live in Spain and I may not know enough about horses but I've seen so many places and that's not what it usually looks like, yes most of them are in the middle of nowhere but they do not usually looks like that, I think that the stables they have are small for horses but like I said I'm not an expert but for sure that's not "Typical Spanish Breeder" like you said. I don't know a lot about Spanish riding though, I'm just saying that their behaviour is very far from what I know when it comes to horses kept in herds.
Sorry but the part where you stumbled made me laugh so hard..your reaction after the horse started panicking😂 I'm just not sure where you're going with this..and as you addressed last time when you bought Emporio..idk how to feel about most of the sellers, cause the horses seem so crazy stressed and scared it just gives me a weird vibe.
But I'm not hating that's just my opinion and in my eyes these videos are so brave to post cause it's been 30 minutes and there's already a few really negative comments. I'm just waiting what's gonna happen and what you're gonna buy. A black one would be amazong tho..could you imagine😍 long legs, baroque style, huge black horse..aghh Idk would be something new for you Matt
then i tripped and scared the life out of the 3 year old ok
*me*

He had said he was tired, but that woke him up really fast. 😂
Heart attacks are free you should give your horse one every day! The more you scare them the quieter they get!
All I could think was, “Good job Matt...”
Jessica Pearson it’s not cruel to spook them, if anything it’s better for the horses development lest you end up with something dangerous because it’s scared of its own shadow. I often throw my hands up near my horses face, not hitting him, just so he gets used to sudden movements. No properly trained horse should spook at a guy tripping, and not very hard at that, of course a young horse can have that exception
the title of the video should be:
jesse obsessing about dogs (part 1)
Next video: our new dog
I would be somewhat dissapointed if Jesse is not getting a puppy in next few months. He seems to be wanting one so mutch.
I just hope they don't get a Chow Chow. They aren't right for the breed. (just my opinion, I could be wrong but my family has had three. From what I know of Matt and Jesse, that breed would not be a good fit.)
Lol true tho
Tuuli R I hope so, but in previous videos and Instagram posts Matt and Jesse both said that they’ve been traveling a lot and wouldn’t have time to care for the dog entirely. They’d most likely have to have a friend take care of the pup if they continue to travel like they are.
@@jerricho11 Most people don't go for chow chows anyway so I doubt it
they'd probably end up with a labrador, golden retriever, husky-
those types of breeds
A horses beauty is his biggest sin. Look at those beautiful horses so scared and trapped in stalls.
All horses are beautiful.
@@LadyAkashe I did not know this. Thank you for the info.
Horses don't have sins only humans do
Matt, the white stallion was sweet. For Christmas can you get Jesse a pup please!!! ;)
I want to see Matt train a foal or a young horse or even do a rescue event to help horses in need.
I support rescue! I think it'd be a hit full of overwhelming success and support!!!
Jesse is a professional trainer 😉
The first bay colt was absolutely gorgeous! He looked very well put together too!
This video helped me a lot. My old, retired lease horse passed away on Wednesday and I haven't stopped crying since but seeing that young 2 year old run around with so much energy made my heart happy.
ah you should really get jesse a dog😂
I second that . Get a Jack and they will take care of the ( if any ) rodents around the barn .
Or 2 lol
Foal or Puppy, he can't have both.😄
Omg the black PRE stallions were stunning. Black is my favorite color for a horse. I think there so beautiful.
"Then I tripped & scared the life out of the 3 yr old."
I have the same effect on children!☺️
🤣🤣🤣🤟
The last yard had a very lovely vibe, more gentle than the ones before. The horses also looked soft natured and the trainer with the final horse on the longe was very grounded.
I love how Jesse was more interested in the dog than in the horses😂
Hey Matt,
a friend of mine got a horse with a fallen neck like the last stallion.
My horse actually is consider a reproductor even tho he has a fallen neck (he is 17yo), either of his foals have it, and the oldest is 13-14yo
@@someonedifferent198 Fallen neck is just a lot of fat that gets in the horses neck, what the surgery does is removing all that fat.
Matt: "Jesse, do u wanna film me, while I'm looking for a horse?"
Jesse: "Sure, could be fun!"
*Jesse films every dog and no horse* 😂😂😂 can someone buy this man a dog and a foal 😂😂😂
You do realise they both travel by air frequently ... and with a dog that can restrict spontaneous travel with air obviously as travelling with a dog to different countries requires alot of red tape. Besides ...how fair is that on the dog. Get real ...dogs need companionship ... not owners away for weeks at a time.
@@lizsteeds6697 uhhh, someone don't understand jokes 😂
Do u really think, someone in this comments will go, buy a dog and give it to Jesse? Come on 😂
I'm following Jesse and Matt for a long time, so I know they don't have time for a dog😂 so keep calm 😂
There's just something about a black stallion 💕
These horses are gorgeous!!!! I absolutely love them
Wow so many beautiful horses. Just having a look and touching those handsome animals would have made my day 😊
Wow😍 the horse that was your favourite is literally my dream horse. Those dapples 😍 too bad he had a fallen neck! Hope he finds a good home 💓
Who else misses chase? ☹️❤️
@@friesianprincess5490 Matt just doesn't show him in as many videos, since he is having some time to chill a bit more. Plus Emporio needs a bit more attention, as he is developing alot right now.
Hey!! I highly recommend to you that you search for a Portuguese stallion (lusitano) i think its going to make you fall in love with the breed and the gaits that they have already as sports horses but stil with the characteristics of the breed................
2024 Jesse has Gaio - a Lusitano gelding who he doesn’t officially own but that seems a matter of paperwork
Hey Matt, Thank you so much for sharing your trip to Spain with all of us. I really enjoy watching the videos that you upload. I hope you're not too discouraged that you didn't find that one "special" stallion to bring home and into your family. There for sure is one out there and he's just biding his time...he is certain his new dad will come for him when the timing is right. I wish you the best in your search, and (you already know this) you are very blessed to have precious people in your life who love you so much!
You've obviously got a thing for the greys and dapples! Personally, I think you should go for a complete contrast to Emporio, but that's just me!
Love the music in the last of the video, Oh Holy Night. Gorgeous music and stunning horses.
2020...... Thank goodness they have a dog now !!! French bulldog, Mazie. Totally adorable. 🥰🥰🥰
Really nice that you guys take us with you on this trip. Really interesting to see. Love these horses & culture with the older farmers :).
Those black horses were gorgeous😍 but I'm biased af lol I lovee black coats
I love the all black stallion.....he is stunning.
OMG Matt!!!! That first grey you rode was beautiful. And I spit my coffee out when you trip and spooked the horse. It's funnier when you keep rewinding it. Good luck with your search. Look forward to seeing what you find.
What’s the point in getting another grey PRE stallion who looks just like your other one? Are you planning on starting a stud or something?
Thats typical barock horse
Blithe Dream Obviously I don’t know exactly why but I’d say it’s probably just a coincidence the horse is grey, and he probably wants a stallion because they hold their value more than geldings. If the horse was to get injured he can still breed....
I'd say 80% of andalusians are grey. It is a dominant gene...
Why should it matter? Having another horse doesn’t mean he needs to be completely different from another you already have, I think he’s looking beyond color and more into conformation, temperament, ...
He doesn't think about the color. He chooses the best horse, no matter if it's grey, bay or any other color.
Hi..Must be so difficult choosing the correct horse. I love the way you approach the horses with your usual caring "Hello Buddy" ..Between you and Jesse you have such a good knowledge of horses ...Fingers crossed you can find a new one to join you back home. I must add ‼️ you are two of the nicest guys enjoying life with your feet firmly on the ground...So refreshing nowadays....You are just great !!! 🤙⭐️😊
You really do ride so beautifully....... also just get a blinking dog lmao
Thank you for showing us your journey to finding the right horse. Your end statement is so true, only if more so called horse people would take notice of that when looking for a horse.
As for me I think the same, a horse is for life so proper selection is so important.
I’m from Spain and we have beautiful horses! I hope you find the right one! Andalucía and Madrid have really good dressage Spanish horses
Yes the horses are beautiful from what we've seen... just a Shame about the stables and handlers in this video 😬
Everytime İ see a horse running/walking İ am like wow soo beautiful, they are amazing creatures.
I love your work!! You are such a good rider!
I love that you are shairing this experience because it opens up a different perspective, we use our horses for ranch work and there are things that I wouldn't normally see with ranch horses that may have an affect in the future to consider while buying thank you love your channel!!!!! Good luck on your ventures!
Honestly I would die to have just about any of these stallions!👌🏻😅
why stallions though, to breed eventually?
@@easytoslip no because all the horses that were showed are stallions. So that is why not to breed just because there wasn't a mare in the video
its because they’re more robust, maybe that’s why they’re more expensive
Love the grey stallion that he saw the add for and took lots of pictures of. He looked so nice to ride! 😍
Didn't you want a jumping horse
No hate just wandering
Tjaša Intihar no Matt does not jump he does dressage, he has done jumping in he past but that is not his goal for a horse
He definitely said before that he wants a jumping horse, but that seems to have changed. I think he just fell in love with Spanish horses lol
@@e.m.lumesound1070 Oh, well I have been misinformed. Thanks x
good morning matt , this type of vlogs brings me to your great channel . we need more visits to stables please
😂 his face when’s he tripped 🤣 we’ve all been there but oml I’m d e a d
These are all very pretty. But if I could choose, I would buy the black one with the little Star on his forehead. He is so gorgeous.🌹
They always have.
Beautiful horses and show. Great podcast. thank you.
First!!!
Love from Spain!!!
They were all so beautiful. It is to bad that the last one had a fallen neck. He was so beautiful! I also really liked the second to last one and the second one in the last video! I can't wait to see when you find one you love!
ofcourse he likes the dark grey one, it looks like emporio. Just wondering why would you buy another horse if you are really busy
Laetitia van Daalen this is his career. i see it as a smart business investment, since he has stated in the past that he wants to keep several breeding prospects down the line
Also they will become white over time so he has two white horses which are very prone to melanomas :/
@@youngblasarius I know, just couldnt imagine to have so many horses and ride them all :P
Good luck Matt you are doing great you don't have to settle. You have a good mind set of what you want. plus I know you will have him vet checked also.
If Jesse loves dogs? 😅😂🐶
Nice video, like all of these stallion 🐴
Man y’all got some Niiiiiiiiicccccceeeee digs over there🤯🤯 ok bay bay was lil full of himself🤣 ol gray takes the check in my book 👍👍👍👍 BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL STUD HORSE
do you think that after having emperio for a while now and having more knowledge about PRE's and how to ride them, that you are more sceptic to the horses you try now?
I really like the big one, at 5:35. He seems to fit and his movements... Awe... And seems as if he has some temperament :) And he was one of the few who is interested in meeting new people with ears forward and not moving away.
Matt: *gets scared of big dog jumping
Also Matt: *rides 18hh horses
After seeing Chase in the July video, it dawns on me that it would be easy to train him to Western horsemanship or Hunt Seat Equitation. He clearly wants to be with you Matt and to keep working in some way. Not as challenging as Grand Prix, but certainly fun and worthwhile for Chase!
Have you considered adopting from shelters? There are some gorgeous horses there, especially if you are looking for youngsters
I am partial to the very first horse you looked at I also love the baroque style! All so beautiful!
My favorite was that light dapple grey with black mane! Probably over the budget, he was perfect looking
The way he turned around after he scared the 2yo horse 😂😂
The white and black stallions were absolutely gorgeous.
I couldn’t help but laugh at the 2 year old spooking. 😂 it sometimes happens when horses aren’t as familiar with their surroundings.
I think Jessie needs a dog Matt. lol or a foal. or both! He loves puppers lol
The last horse is beautiful, they look all sweet and calm...
PD. This is not a hate comment, just an observation
Love the one you sat on. Understand you are looking for something else but really nice.
Matt: "We dont have enough time and space for Dogs"
Also Matt: ~ Buys another stallion ~
Let's all consider this a compilation of the most beautiful horses anyone has ever seen.
I like how “O Holy Night” was playing when the beautiful horse with the fallen neck appeared! “Fall on your knees...” 😇.
For God’s sake, would you please get Jesse a dog?🐕 He loves them so much - just like his horses 🐎
I'm very happy that you knew what you wanted to do with your life I have met many that didn't no what they wanted to do with themselves no careers.
#1) I wish I could afford horses as beautiful and gorgeous as these ones
#2) I don’t know why but I’ve been wondering for awhile if he’s ever gonna breed his stallion (like put it up for stud or something)
#3) I wish I could be successful when it came to growing my horses mane and forelock as long as some of them stallions had... lmao
#4) If I even attempted to buy one of these stallions I would probably have to sell my house (just assuming they’re expensive because stallions usually are but I could be wrong)
1) I'm with you. I would love to have such a horse but I also know that I'm 100% a pony person and would rather buy a pony version of these beautiful horses.
3) Depends on the breed of the horse. My shetland crossbreed is also having a ton of hair but some breeds or colors just don't want to grow any hair.
Yea that light gray one you rode was my fave that I saw of this bunch. That last one you looked at was gorgeous for sure, shame about the neck. Also I love that dogs and horse stables go hand in hand :) As a dog person (own two) I appreciate Jesse's enthusiasm for all the dogs lol
I can’t wait to see your final choice 😍
I actually really appreciated the message at the end. Ive been looking for a horse for a hot minute now and sometimes i just get so frustrated trying to find my perfect horse
