Thank you Sir for the video. I’m getting through all your videos when I can. Hoping to see the video where you extend the pedals. I’ve noticed on mine that the gas and brake pedals are super tight to get my foot between, wearing wide made shoes. Also, hoping to catch a video on how your sunroof assembly goes. I have a 77 non Super Beetle that has a metal sunroof, are these factory? Thank you for the videos. I’m a greenhorn with VW and it’s great to see someone knowledgeable to get me through maintenance and upkeep for my Beetle
Thanks for always posting and being here I truly appreciate it. Honestly I will be doing the pedal extension video within the next 6 to 8 weeks. I’m finishing the tear down on the 68. And then I’m going to start with the pedal assembly, the master cylinder and all of the braking system. So I will be showing the process for the pedal assembly. I wear a size 13, so trust me I know how it feels to be squeezing our big ass feet in between these pedals 😁
I have 72 volkswagon super beetle ,when I apply pressure to the peddle in the cabin,it does not move the cable going to the carburetor, cannot figure this out . This is the original accerlator cable . It will crank if I am at the back of the car and pressing the part of the carburetor that let's the gas flow ,think I have also the check dies not work well . Thank you Steve Brown
Great Video. Thank You! Also the brake return spring on the assembly on my car is currently not attached to anything. I just noticed both hooks on either end are hanging on their own. Which hook should be attached?
lance barley The hook on the return spring will attach to the master cylinder rod on the pedal assembly. And the “leg” parts will twist around for tension and pressed against the floor
Thanks for the videos. Did you ever get to do the video showing HOW TO CREATE ONE INCH SPACE BETWEEN ACCELERATOR & BRAKE PEDAL? So far no luck finding vids. Also, do you have any vids on EXTENDING THE PEDALS as well? Thanks!!
Hi Eric!! Thanks for commenting! Just mentioned in one of my videos recently about doing that. I got in a hurry on the last project and didn’t do it. I’ll be doing it to my 68!
Another great video Slades. Let me know how you separate the pedals because like you I wear a 12.5 and man my foot always gets caught lifting from the gas trying to go to the brake pedal especially in my steel toed boots they are the worst. I need to extend the brake over a bit too so please let me know if you come up with a solution for it. I have no idea how to rebuild pedal assemblies lol. I see you are a Samba user too like me lol since you mentioned it in this video 😂 I find lots of useful info on there too but sometimes people can get rude.
That is a really great forum and message board. And sometimes people can be snotty on there. I don’t post a whole lot there but I’ve been on there for over a decade. I have an extra set of petals here and I plan on doing an upcoming video on how to separate them petals up further. With our larger feet, it is a bit frustrating.
I poke at you RE this very issue in the clutch cable adjustment vid…. I will investigate and see if your mods addresses my concern. THANKS!
Oops, I just answered you on another video lol good luck my friend.
I modified mine with drill grinder and after market metal drilled pedal pads...got plenty room for my size 12
Awesome! We have the same sized foot I see, the more space the better!
It looked really thick. So much to do. Stay safe!
How Laney Lives I just wanna drive it!! Lol , Stay safe my friend!!
Slades VW Beetle hey, I know you do!
Hey friend
Put the pedal to the medal and burn rubber, 😂. Do you remember that song? It looks as by the Gap Band.
How Laney Lives Omg yes!!!! That made me smile!!!

It sounds like you have a broken accelerator cable, have you checked that? It sure seems like it from the way you’re describing it Stephen

I know I am quite off topic but do anyone know of a good site to watch new tv shows online?
@Guillermo Trace I would suggest Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Ryder Ahmir Yea, I have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :)
@Ryder Ahmir thank you, I signed up and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it !

@@SladesVWBeetle Looking forward to it, thanks again!!
@@ericstern1754 And thank you Eric for being here!!
I don’t like it when people don’t do things the right way, when they don’t it makes the next person job difficult!
How Laney Lives Ohhhh your so right!! I run into that a lot!

@@SladesVWBeetle Agreed, the Germans must have not thought about us when designing it LOL
Yeah I don’t believe it was designed for people with larger feet a long legs. 🤦🏼♂️🙄😂
