I have a question though, and in no way mean to be disrespectful to anyone: Orthodoxy is Christianity in its purest form, why would one say that they gave up being Christian to become Orthodox?

Great question! Adam is the one speaking. He is my best friend who came from Protestant background and struggled to embody a pure Christian way of living. It was not until he gave up on it all, released his ideas and projections of how to do “church” and then he was able to look objectively at Orthodoxy as a means to be Christian, leaning on 2000 years of beautiful, spiritual filled tradition. Hopefully this provides some better context.
