Now that I have the chance to play it on my PS2, I'm glad I tried it out. Although it might not be spectacular (maybe I like it because I'm European), I find it challenging but charming. It's full of clichés, but it isn't heavy imo. And apart from the frustration of the stealth segments, I found myself wanting to know where the plot would go.
Did you also mention that the control scheme is completely bonkers? For anyone who doesn't like Up=look up and prefers reversed Y axis, this is completely unplayable. The only reverse option it gives reverses ALL controls so the Y axis and the X axis are reversed, and they still haven't patched this on the re-release
I really don't get why this game is considered to be so good. I played it some time ago and grew from being indifferent at the beginning, to hating every bit of it by the time credits rolled.
