Sorry for the audio issues! I forgot to unmute myself. Threw this video together quickly. Here are the steps, I was just walking through those during the repair video: 1. Turn off claw machine. 2. Open the control panel. 3. Disconnect motor plug. 4. Turn on claw machine. 5. Hold down activation button and plug motor back in. 6. On the joystick press: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Left, Right, Right (Yes, not exactly the Konami code) 7. Place control panel back. 8. You can now move claw using the joystick, right moves it towards the feed door, up drops the claw. Move claw all the way towards the right door. 9. Lower the claw by pressing Up repeatedly until its all the way lowered and then retracts all the way back up. (Use your hand to hold the claw keeping the string taught.) 10. Turn the claw machine off and then back on. That should be all you need to do to fix this issue. I will upload a better how to video soon.
Happened to my machine yesterday. Can confirm this does fix the issue. I don’t know how many times you could do this before a wire snaps though. They should issue some sort of recall/fix
Man, I’m glad I found this video for the last three hours. I’ve been trying to get this claw drop with no luck and I followed the steps in this video and I still don’t get anything man what a bunch of wasted hours was on this crap.
This works to fix the claw. It happened to me just now and I remember I seen this video last night when building the claw machine. It’s a great product overall still!
I did see this coming and tried to warn people. I totally understand the desire for a claw machine because it's cool and kids dig it but $500 for something that don't work out the box is insane. I paid around $350 for my claw machine on eBay and it's commercial grade and accepts coins. I'm happy with it and the most important thing is IT WORKS!😂 Excellent Video James! 👍👍
There’s no chance that they didn’t know about that issue if they had proper testing before shipping. That’s what I said up front. Everyone wants a claw machine until you’re taking them apart every week
Given A1UP quality track record I was surprised how many people were preordering these units. These require precise moving parts and cant be skimped on
Fortunately, there is still a fix, al be it a bit of work to do it. Hopefully it turns out to be a rare issue. Only a small set of people have them right now, so seems like a big percentage. Too early to tell.
All the more reason why they should fix this issue before shipping the next wave (even giving them the benefit of the doubt that they didn't know with this first wave, though they had that fix ready pretty quick). Not just for fairness to customers, but if they don't it'll kill their reputation with all the new customers/retailers they're trying to target. This was a pass for me anyway, I got one of those Vevor style versions PDubs has talked about and it's doing great a year and a half later.
There will be a fix. All you will need to do is take out your pcb and ship it to Arcade1up to have it reflashed. At your expense, of course. Anyone else wishing this was a pink and blue Ms. Pacman XL instead?
Has nothing to do with the claw not moving for a while. Has to do with kids pressing the claw button multiple times in a row. My son just broke ours and the reset isnt working.
I don’t believe 1up is gonna win with this, sure it’s going to be a hot seller for them but so many consumers are going to put a strain on that claw with items over the weight limit then lie to 1up that they didn’t and more of these issues are gonna come up. At least the contra code should help alleviate that situation but at the same time issues right of the gate not good.
Unfortunately, I just unboxed mine yesterday and my son was playing it and this happened. I follow the instructions reset it and it worked for a little bit and the claw stopped again. So I reset it for the second time hopefully they find a fix for this.
We have purchased many Arcade1Up products were I work and these products only come with a 90 day warranty and you get what you pay for. Our units started failing only after 6 months. We will never purchase one of their products again.
This is hilarious, A1UP is a joke, stick to Arcades idiots. New products new issues, how long did it take them to get the arcades right and then they went backwards. Best of luck out there.
Exactly, they produce what is arguably their best product. The Pacman XL, and then they just stop! Now, giving us all these new wacky products that other companies make better.
That thing is garbage invest in a real one there's so many on sale Facebook market and and it will last a lifetime same thing goes for arcades not will ever beat out original hardware these companies are just trying to make a buck cuz this company is going down the drain

And before somebody asked, why did I buy it? I bought it for my son and if it worked, he would’ve loved it.
Thank you for that. Just having that video out for reference if something like that were to happen to other people is a great idea.
@@akumapup that was the goal and to make sure people knew about some of the issues that they can run into.
It works!
I thought this was a PlayStation 35th Anniversary Channel 🤣👊🏼

Could this be why the deck was loose in Arcade1up's commercial? They had to reset it a few times while filming? LOL, just wondering.
@@thumpersquid good thinking. That sounds reasonable.

Thanks for the info James. I'm saving this video. 👍👍
Good coverage! 👊🏻😎🕹️
This is why we bought a used real one $350 and will hold up so much longer.

The code shows they new it may happen and has a fix built in. So how is it that they didnt preplan for a fix huh?
Given A1UP quality track record I was surprised how many people were preordering these units. These require precise moving parts and cant be skimped on
True, but on this issue, doesn't seem to be a part issue, more of a software one.
Shill Away, Why don't you Shill Away into the night, I know it ain't right Arcade1up, #ClawGate
@@carlo1132 lol
SHOCKER!!!! REALLY !!! WOW!!! 😂
It will be like Dragon's Lair and A1Up will charge people $40 to send in their faulty product to be fixed.
If it's a software glitch there's nothing that will fix it since there's no internet access on the cabinet. That's not good news.

@@stupidfathobbit4262 Personally, i dont think the weight issue is a problem at all.
maybe they can release a software patch to fix it...oh, wait...

@materkoski53 Thanks for the update. That is unfortunate that the fix isn't lasting.
Easiest Fix - To avoid this issue turn off the Claw Machine as soon as you are done playing it so the machine does not time out and repeat.
Kind of a bummer you can't leave it on in attract mode.
Zero chance I would buy one!! Quality is def the problem!!
James your audio cut out during the video
Yep. Check the pinned comment above for what was said while I left myself muted... lol
The real point to this is I shouldn't have to fix it with some hack lol. Glad I didn't pre-order and it is still a HARD PASS for me.
@MJay581 true. But waiting to see how prevalent the issue is. Could be a one off or could be very common. Not enough in the wild yet to have an idea.
If you have to do this more than once it’s a broken product. 🤔
Agreed. Let's see how common this issue right now. This is the only instance we know of.
We have purchased many Arcade1Up products were I work and these products only come with a 90 day warranty and you get what you pay for. Our units started failing only after 6 months. We will never purchase one of their products again.
All is not rosy?!?! No way!!! 🙄🙄
Reset it every few days. How dumb 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@sunnydelight3046 it's happened 1 time with 1 person. Far to early to claim it happens every few days.
Just return it to the retailer for a full refund.
Because that's not complicated whatsoever.

Lot of people don't have 5,000 to spend on a real arcade machine or the space for one
Why do people buy this bullshit? Arcade 1ups are not arcades, people.
maybe he has it on super hyper scam mode?
Lol
It’s Arcade1up, you can never truly be excited about anything they do, because you’ll always regret it. 😂🤣
