Seeing the Bawbee, of course, the lyrics run through my mind. Ally bally, ally bally be, sitting on your mammy's knee Greetin' for a wee bawbee Tae buy some Coulters candy. 😂
What your doing right is your whole demeanor. The way you talk and inform and edit your videos. I really enjoy having you in the back ground and running over when you got something.... wish I could be where you are. Just to be there😊
25:40 is a can opener from British Forces Ration Pack. That’s why you find them all over the place. A serviceman used that to break into a tin of something like corned beef! The old tinned rat packs are a distant memory now but we all had our favourites and our dislikes!
John, the pendant looking item is likely a hinged cap for an oil cup, where with some of the older farm machinery, or motor cars (military possibly) had remote oiling cups that slowly fed and lubricated mechanical linkages. These oil cups had to be filled on occasion, and the hinged cover kept debris and water out and oil in the cup. Cheers from Texas!
@@dixietenbroeck8717 I had seen those cups on very old U.S. Navy ships and Coast Guard Cutters, museum items and such. Even what used to be in Light Houses around the United States, motor and control arms for items, all needing a continuous slow feed of oil. I still see oil cups on old tractors in my neighborhood these days, collectors items and show pieces.
LoL maybe your dog Jurri got a hold of your missing items. Fantastic finds. The view is breath taking. Saw one of those voided cross coins on Time Team. Pretty awesome. They dated it specifically at 1247 😊 well done. I'm excited to here about the ring. Don't forget 😅 By the way I love the longer vids tyty.
It absolutely cracks me up when you say 16:30 "Well, it's a thing." Not sure why I find it so funny but it sure tickles my funny bone! Thanks for that. Everyone needs a laugh! 😁🤣🤪😜
Brilliant job as usual. Starting to grow an affinity for history of England, Ireland and of course Scotland! Just because we are rebels does not mean we have no appreciation for our ancestors. 🙂 🏴☠
First thing I thought when I saw the ring was Scotland’s flag 🏴. Gold 🌟 for you for bringing all your detecting equipment 😂 and let’s not forget that view ❤❤
The copper "Zipper" instantly remindet me of a small minimalistic medieval book clasp but maybe its just me. Fantastic video! Love to watch them after school to calm down.
That little bit of metal at 15:44 looks like what the US military used to call a P51 key. It’s a can opener that they carried with them. I just love your videos. And especially your stories. Wonderful history lessons. Edited due to missing number
Thank you so much for showing us the beautiful Perthshire country side! Hope you were able to get the subscribers you need to have the endorsement for a Land Rover!
Great finds again John. They just keep coming. 😊👏👏 I don't understand why some people, who watch these videos, would think that using a soft brush on the finds would be detrimental to the finish, or value. Your Bendy Thumb is removing far more finish than that brush ever could, because your thumb print is impregnated with superfine abrasive and that's why it polishes the surface so well. "More brushing and less rubbing" is what they should be shouting at their screens! 🤣
You blow my mind with these incredible coins!! I found a few Indian head Penny's at work a few years ago and I was blown away that they were just over 100 years old and here you are calmly giving us a history lesson on the 400yr old coin your holding that you just dug up. Fantastic sir, quality content and a huge thumbs up from a MacDonald here in the states.
Brilliant video yet again. Compelling viewing because of your thorough descriptions of your finds and the history associated with them. A great selection of finds today and if the condition of the Charles sixpence is replicated in future finds then we are in for a treat.
Wow John!! Gorgeous scenery and incredible permission!! Outstanding finds just keep coming!!! Congrats on a super video and finds to keep you coming back and back!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
The history lessons themselves are second to none!! Just makes me glad I never payed more attention in school because the way you talk about the monarchs makes it stick in my head I've learned so much from you in the last 2 years. By far the best detecting channel on RUclips! Another great video as always John thanks for sharing 👍
Another enjoyable video with some cracking finds John. I am off for my first outing with my Simplex on Saturday, going to a rally. SoI am hoping for my first time out just to come back with a coin!!!!🤣🤣👍👍😉
Lov'in the vids John, always look forward to them. BTW, Roxburgh Castle was a Scottish castle, James II blew himself up while attempting to evict the English from it.
Thinking about how much you've taken out of such a small percentage of the land makes me think there must be a tremendous amount of material in those fields!
Haha thanks Stacy. Glad you enjoyed and welcome to the channel. I’ve an amazing back catalogue and don’t miss the Bronze Bull from earlier this year!!! 🤩
Nice hunt John. Great ring find, looks like it has age, interesting pattern. A great selection of copper and silver coins across a good period of time. I also love pulling a Viccy bun with that deep olive green colour, they come up with such detail sometimes. Nice Viccy veil 3 pence as well. Enjoyed and all the best.
Well you’re well behind John and maybe well on the way to that Merc! 😂 Another great day for you with the silver and that fantastic ring! Lots more good vids and finds to come I recon with the amount of land there? Will you let us know what FLO says about your Holy Grail and the ring? Cheers - I’ll buy you a coffee 👍
Great channel John. I am enjoying from Brantford Ontario Canada. Love the history lessons you give us too. My family came from Cheshire Eng. in 1788 So find me a 1788 coin for a keep sake.....giggles.....thx. Laura
Wow John. That Medieval ring was such a surprise. I’m really enjoying the history snippets with each find. Such interesting times for the early Royals. I wonder what they’d think of the current line of royal blood. 🤴🏻👸🏼🫅🏼👸🏻👩🏽🤝👨🏼 cheers from Australia 🇦🇺 🦘
A cracking day out in a great location, tremendous achievement to get that amount subscriptions, well deserved for all the time and effort that you put in.

It's been about 7 years since I dug dirt, buy your channel is encouraging me to get back out there. Love your channel, and this area is a fantastic find for you! Hi John, That permission of yours is sweet. I enjoy having a look at what is going on over the other side of the big pond. You produce wonderful videos and have Quite the collection. If your interested , I've got some finds from the U.S. that are from the 1700"s in my video on youtube called Best of diggin Rhode Island. You might enjoy seeing some of the things that show up over here. Good Luck & Happy Hunting............
Wow! Great hunt! Congrats on all of the wonderful finds. I particularly enjoy your knowledge of dates and history. Thank you for all the work and time that goes into creating these videos for us. Cheers!
Your find at 25:31 reminds me of an old GI style can opener. If the inner leading edge of the apostrophe shaped part of the thing has a sharp or beveled edge, that might be what you're looking at.
Hi from Canada.. just found your site when researching the churches in Perthshire to locate the burial sites of my ancestors... it has now become one of my favorites.
I came across your channel maybe about 10-12 months ago, found the subject fascinating and subscribed. I've watched your subs increase until today and when I started watching this upload, you were excited by the fact you had reached 25K so I checked and it actually gave a figure of 28.2K. Congratulations are in order! Now, I often wonder what happens to the coins and anything else of historical value? Are they donated to museums or universities? Sometimes I thought I may take up the hobby but [pushing 77 yrs. and a bit unsteady on my feet, I decided to give it a miss and continue watching your ups and downs. Happy hunting!
Many thanks Alan. Anything of age I’d reported to museums and they then decide wether to keep and display or give it back for my collection. Thanks for the kind words also and glad you’re enjoying. Channel growth is amazing too!
Amazing finds one after another. Gotta visit the land of my heritage someday, but I don’t even get out of my state of Pennsylvania much. I enjoy your easy going videos- you certainly are up on your history
