I was 19 and went to like 25 games that season. This was my first ever Angels playoff game (my brother in law from San Diego took me to see a padres Astros NLDS game in 1998). I was sitting in right center and I swear that beach ball delaying Wells got everything started. I could see Wells looking back in our direction as he watched someone retrieve the beach ball and it threw him off. It was all magic after that. The roar of the crowd was amazing as the hits and runs kept coming. Great memory.
I’m a Yankee fan but that Angel team just destroyed us in 02. At least in 05 we gave them a good fight, but they utterly destroyed our very good pitching staff. Moose, Wells, Andy, Clemens. None went past 4 innings
I was a Yankee fan back then, aged 12, and i remember being so pissed at how good they were. I just couldn't understand how their bats kept finding the ball. Most teams that swing as freely as they did would get themselves out. Also those thunder sticks and rally monkey were very annoying too ....but again i was 12 haha
This team was just trying to get the wood on the ball. Scoscia culture style baseball. Just get the hit. I miss this team and this style of baseball. Youll be fine though you guys won 4 in5 years or something lol@@fallen4life080
All four games of this series were tight. Even this game 4 was close up until this inning. And all 7 games between the Angels-Yankees in the 2002 regular season were tight as well. Shame that this ALDS didnt go 5 games. And shame we couldnt get an all California ALCS between the Angels and the Athletics.
What’s really a shame is after all these years the Division Series STILL isn’t a best of 7. The Yankees and A’s won 103 games and the Angels won 99 games (after their worst start in team history). It should take more than 3 losses to knock those teams out. And game 5 at Yankee Stadium would have been very interesting.
Those mighty thundersticks when those things are out Anahiem Stadium is the loudest in the league I still have mine from game 6 of the 02 WS
need those thunder sticks back asap

The mound visit too.
It had gotten so loud that they couldn't even hear each other and Wells had to continue pitching.
just look at that flawless California weather
that was the loudest the stadium has ever been.
World Series game 2, I was there for both

Pathetic as sh*t, I happened to be visiting LA then, sucked to fold like we did.
@@fallen4life080 you seem to remember it well, 12 or 120 !
Also they got to Yankee Bullpen middle relief and Setup men to get to Rivera. Stanton, Karsay, Mendoza blew leads late

Even El Dookie couldn't save the Yankees.
Oh what farce, catch Jack Autry at 6:35
