    I was there that night. Such a rollercoaster of emotions for us at the stadium, going into the game confident but hesitant, then seeing the Giants jump ahead and then just keep building their lead. Then Baker hands Ortiz the game ball, and everything flips! Spiezio, Erstad, Anderson...Glaus. From agony to ecstasy in one turn of the lineup. When we left the stadium that night, we knew it was over. We'd been that other team before in '86. Game 7 was already decided, though it was still a really good game, with one hell of an ending.
    This game, however, will always be the greatest game I've ever seen live. I was there for game 7 as well, but it was an epilogue to this epic.

    • @jdmrchem5
      @jdmrchem5 3 года назад

      I never had a chance to watch Game 6 live in the stadium since I was away from at the time and listening to the radio. My family and I were worried that the Angels might lose the game since they were down 5-0. Afterwards, a miracle happened and they won Game 6. We watched Game 7 and it was a treat, more like an epilogue to the Game 6 epic as what you mentioned. It felt so good that the Angels won the WS and my classmates and teachers talked about all day in my junior high school. I heard that 1986 was heartbreaking, so I watched Game 5 of the ALCS and it was heartbreaking. Donnie Moore ended up deleting himself in 1989. That was sad and he was a really good pitcher for the team. The Angels were so close to beat Boston in 1986, but faded away after Game 5. Years later, Gene Autry sings along with the 2002 WS victory even though he already passed away during that time. Nevertheless, I am happy that the Angels won this well-deserved WS title. The Angels of today need to do something with their pitching or they may stuck to being mediocre even if they have great talents like Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout. Oh yeah, I watched the Angels often during the Vlad Guerrero days and he was a beast along with other studs like Bartolo Colon, Torii Hunter, Kelvim Escobar, John Lackey, and other good players in 2004-2009.

  • @SgtHolton
    @SgtHolton 5 лет назад +1

    I cannot believe they pulled the Giants pulled their starter. I've got a theory that that mistake directly lead to the Cubs losing to the Marlins in similar fashion in game 6 of the NLCS a few years later. Dusty remembered how poorly pulling his starter had worked in this game, and so he left Mark Prior out way beyond when he was tired, because he didn't want to make the same mistake. Lo and behold, Prior was actually out of gas, and Dusty let the Cubs blow it.

      What's funny is that #27 is going to have to be retired twice. Vladimir Guerrero went into the Hall Of Fame with an Angel cap. He's the only player that can say that...until Trout joins him in 15-20 years. So the Angels will have two players in the HOF with Angel caps, and both wore #27.
