Hi, appreciate your video information, I have a doubt if you don’t mind replying, does any other bank app provides Monzo flex like feature? Buy now, and pay later on instalments.
Hey, glad you find the videos useful. Unfortunately, it's just Monzo in the online banking world that's currently doing it. Although I understand Revolut are looking to introduce a similar feature, do you have a Revolut account? ^Jonny
What to do if revolute closed my account for crypto withdrawing even I showed orders from binance, can I somehow bypass or reopen an account, like wait for couple of years or register on another residency card and phone number etc, etc? I don't know how to explain that I will never ever withdraw crypto with p2p only with usdc
Scenario - traveling from the UK to Spain: would it be significantly cheaper to transfer £1000 to Wise, then convert them to Euros and pay everything from Wise euro account or just avoid the hassle and spend directly from my Starling/monzo GBP account that converts each transaction using MasterCard's exchange rate?
Great question, and it's difficult to know for sure but I suspect you'd be better off spending directly from your Monzo/Starling GBP account. I have tested this myself and in some cases, the same transactions have been cheaper with my Starling card than with my Wise card. The cheapest option, although the savings are pretty much negligible, would be to open a Revolut account. You can exchange £1,000 fee-free per month with the free account and at the mid-market rate, then you could exchange any EUR you have left back to GBP in the following month when the allowance refreshes. Hope that helps. ^Jonny
@@Monitodotcom thanks! I have a Revolut account but I am not very happy with their customer support + junk/spam emails and I would probably stick using them for their free single-use virtual cards.
Hello Jonny! Great video as always. I'm trying to create a Monese account using your link in the description but even tho I opened it and downloaded the app and everything, it asks me for an invite code. Please let me know which is your invitational code. Much love!!
@@Monitodotcom Hello Jonny. So I used your invitational code, I added my address etc, I took the pictures of my ID and was waiting for my account to get approved. Some minutes ago I got an email from Monese with the following: We are writing to notify you that we have completed our post sign up checks on your identity. Unfortunately, we could not gather as much information based on what has been supplied therefore we will close your account with immediate effect. I never, ever had any issues with my identity checks with the other companies for example (Revolut) that I'm using... They don't even give me an option to contact them again... What can I say, I'm very disappointed...
so i signed up for revolut, mainly so can add money to it and use for spending around london at work and shops etc but then to also use on holiday in europe. do i just add GBP to it and spend but then add to it and convert to spend when in the canary islands in 3 weeks? ty
Hey! Yes absolutely. For spending around London do keep an eye on the various cash back offers Revolut have. I live in London and use them all the time and there's so many different places you can earn cash back. With your trip to the Canary Islands I recommend just depositing an amount of money in GBP to the account that you want to budget for your holiday. Then exchange that GBP to EUR before you travel and on a weekday. This way you can spend the EUROS during the week or on the weekend without incurring any extra fees (as long as you don't exchange over £1000, over this amount then you'll have a small fee to pay. That will be the cheapest and best way for you to spend your money using your Revolut card while abroad. Cheers! ^Jonny
Hey, you can deposit cash into a Monzo account at any of 28,000 PayPoint locations across the UK. You can find the nearest one on the map following this link: consumer.paypoint.com/
I’m planning on working in the middle east (saudi/dubai/quatar) later this year, what bank would you recommend for living abroad for a while (currently live in the uk). thanks
Okay in that case I'd suggest just opening a Starling Bank account. You could have your GBP deposited into the account, and then spend it fee-free, you'll also receive Mastercards FX rates which are pretty much the mid-market rate. That's the debit card I typically use when I'm abroad or purchasing anything in a foreign currency. ^Jonny
Hi Jonny, I am French and have just moved to England for a few months for work. I need a UK IBAN to receive my pay and so I was thinking of opening an online bank account. Which bank would you recommend? I will need to send euros to my account until I receive my pay. Thank you in advance. Carole-Anne
Hey Carole-Anne, hope you're doing well. I'm guessing you'll be paid in GBP? If so you wouldn't technically need an IBAN, just UK bank account details to share with your employer. Either way, Revolut would be a great choice. You would receive both UK bank account details and an IBAN for cross-border payments. In the future, if you did have GBP deposited, with Revolut you could easily & cheaply exchange it for EUR when you return to France. In short, I would recommend Revolut. We have an affiliate link if you do choose to register (bit.ly/3IZg52y ) Thank you ^Jonny
Excellent video. I have a 17 years old daughter studying in Uk. She needs a Uk bank account for services payments. She tried to sign up with wise and Monese but non of them accept under 18. Do you know an app that she can have a Uk acc number being 17? Thanks
@@Monitodotcom Fantastic, thanks for your reply. I will try it and see if it works for her. The main problem she has is that it is very difficult to open an account in Uk as a foreign student but at the same time she needs an acc number to hire and pay for services like internet or energy bills. She will try with Revoult, I hope it works. Thanks again
Hey! I am from Mozmambique living in Portugal, Ive been using Wise,R Revolut and Monese here. With Wise and Revolut the fees (When topping up with my Mozambican Credit Card) Are way higher than Monese (Ex: 350EUR Top Up Fee is Wise: around 10EUR, Revolut: around 7EUR, but Monese is: around 1EUR) Why is that?
Hey Rykko. Can I ask if you're toping up with a credit card or a debit card? I'm a little concerned if it is a credit card because your provider might be charging you an additional 'Cash Advanece Fee'. ^Jonny
@@Monitodotcom I'm based in Belgium but moving to England so I need to convert the EUR I'm getting every month to GBP and also withdraw large amounts of those GBP.
Okay great. I would recommend a Revolut account. You'll be able to convert roughly €1000 EUR to GBP each month, fee-free (just make sure to do it during the week), and then spend that money in the UK with no transaction costs. With Revolut you will be limited to withdrawing £200 per month fee-free. So if you wish to withdraw more, then I recommend opening a Starling bank account (once you have a UK residence). You could send the GBP from your Revolut account to your Starling account for the purpose of withdrawing it for free. Hope that helps, do let me know if you have any further questions and if you decide to sign up with Revolut please use our affiliate link bit.ly/3IZg52y - you should get £10 free :) ^Jonny
