For the first few years you'll likely have to put nearly all of your money and efforts into this but persevere and you'll have something which will benefit the rest of your lives. Good luck!

One thought, you say the orientation of the house has changed a couple of times!!!
Do take into consideration that it’s best to have it facing south, for maximum sunlight and that the layout of rooms can be important.
Morning use rooms to the east
Day use rooms to the south
Evening use rooms to the west
So your following the sun throughout the day……

The spider is a harmless Araneus diadematus (A.K.A European Garden Spider/Cross Orb Weaver/Pumpkin Spider), she looks to be gravid too (about to drop an egg sac) and will be essential once you’re living on the land….she’s free pest control! Also…you have enough land now for HIGHLAND COWS!!! 😂😂 again, congratulations to you both! Very happy for you two!
You should really video your journey in building your very 1st home it would be great to watch and for the future watching it back.

Fabulous! What a great opportunity for you both! You're so lucky to have land that you can do what you want with. Over here in the UK, developers would dig all that field up and build at least 150 houses on it that would be about the size of rabbit hutches to cram as many people in as possible and make as much money as possible! 😣 At least you can keep it in its natural state and protect the surroundings and its wildlife, keep animals and make it what you want. Good luck with it all anyway - it will be interesting to see your project evolve. 🙂
Yeah telling a dog to not go in the mud is an exercises in futility right there lol . Best of luck on your adventures in adulting remember to have frequent breaks though cos adulting can be tedious .

Oh guys. I would literally be like a pig in sh*t starting a project like this in my younger days. I loved the planning and development. Not that your builds are in any way similar as you guys tend to focus on timber whereas we in the UK would be using brick or preferably stone back in my day. They kinda do a half n half on most new builds now with brick/stone outer shell and timber inner lining. But man..I am so jealous..My old backs not what it was but i had me some fun building stuff with my own hands. Cant beat it.

So excited for you both , and slightly jealous lol, my dream is to own land and build a house , but I’d probably use it for horses 😂, but I live in the U.K. and land is rare and very expensive. But please bring us along on this new adventure .

Sorry to be a killjoy here, but it occurs to me that for the benefit of you both it would be wise to draw up an agreement as to how you would manage the division of the property in the event you split up. (Heaven forbid!) Set out your expectations of each other. If you both pay towards the construction of a house it’s only right some value should be attributed to that even if the land itself has to remain in Anna’s name. Hope you see what I’m getting at, not sure I’ve explained that well!

That's a nice little packet of land you have there, perfect for a family home. I like the pond idea.. Clear it all out, reinforce the banks, it will make for a nice little JT fishing spot.
This is like a dream of mine, here in the UK most land like this is bought by developers for big money and houses built on it. Can't wait to see your progress!

tree/flora identification is good. you learn what's growing near you - nature is amazing! work in harmony with it. attract the local wildlife - it's good for the soul. and also good for disposing of the snacks that are sub-par (squirrels are awesome for that.)

Hi Anna and Jt, so Jt why not convert that pond into a miniature-ish lake and have your own little fishing lake, get some Carp and other fish and have your own catch and release pond/ lake, get a few different varieties of fish for it and then weigh each 1 that's caught and released, then over time you can see how big they can become? Maybe some ghost carp or mirror carp ect!!
They don’t really fish for carp in the US,they are invasive and not well liked. I don’t really know the guy but I can guarantee he’s Bass fisherman,if he does stock it that will be the kind of thing.
Amazing! So happy for you both, y’know, there’s probably room for a couple of highland cows, or at least mini highland cows! Just putting the idea out there🙂 even chickens and mini goats…you’d never have to cut the pasture 🤷🏻♀️
