But he'd probably be happier being in with the dogs. And he could be the perfect friend for Maggie, they just need to get used to each others' play styles.

Ah I love this 😻 My parents live in Spain now (prev UK) and have been adopted by 6 cats in total. They are all outdoor cats, roam around the area being their best feral selves. A blanket in a tub will work for the warmer months but winter time this can actually be dangerous as cats can freeze to the blanket. A tote in a tote with insulation between them and a bed of straw would work well to get through the rest of this winter. If you would like plans for a fancy (but cost effective) cat house get in contact and I can draw some up for you.

Omg I have a ginger male cat and they are amazing... He's definitely been around humans and probably dogs all his life so I'd definitely take him to the vet and get him checked for a microchip and then if he doesnt have one, get him chipped and neutered. Once hes nuetered you can have him as an indoor outdoor guy! You guys have said you have cyotes and they do eat cats and not being neutered will cause him to wonder for females in heat too. Also, ginger cats are known to share only one common brain cell so you're in for a treat 👌🏻

They have like you, two dogs, and were a bit concerned about how things would work out. Being a kind, caring person, she gave tthe cat some food. It kept returning, and she would again give it some food. One day, it just decided to come into the house. The dogs were not sure what to make of this, but the cat, with a few deft swipes of a paw, sorted out who was 'boss' and the dogs accepted the new 'top-dog'! The strange thing is that the cat actually belongs to a neighbour about 100 yards away (by foot), who has two small children, and they kept playing with the cat as if it was a doll or something like, and the cat didn't like it, SO IT MOVED OUT! 🙂 My step-daughter in law has taken the cat back 'home' a few times, but, cutting through the gardens, the cat was back at her house before she was. It simply did not want to live in the house with the small children and now resides permanently in it's new home. It cuddles up to her, and even sleeps on her bed now. The dogs are quite happy with their new housemate, and the cat seems more than happy that it bis not being pestered all the time. 🥰
I have never in my life seen a feral cat be so loving, and approach a person like that. I Iive in the country side with tons of feral farm cats and they runaway and hiss if you approach them. Also it would not be so hungry feral cats tend to be expert hunters. If it also knows how to do the hewow meow, it was or is someones cat, cats only meow at humans, and only learn the hewow meow from a human saying hello to them a lot. It had to have had a human companion at some point. A lot of house cats do not learn the 'kill' move, they only learn it from a mother who is a killer. It seems domesticated, and may not survive well outside, keep it warm and fed guys.

If he is going to stay with you you want to look at neutering as soon as possible. An un-neutered male can wander anything up to 2-3 miles (Which is likely how he ended up with you), but un-neutered they will also become much more territorial and aggressive, which ultimately leads to vets bills for injuries to them or other animals.

So long as you make him a nice cat shelter they are fine in all weathers.i don't think you want him inside as he is intact and will cause odour issues in your house, also he is fantastic pest prevention outside.
We have been adopted by a cat he lived in our village his owner moved 6 miles away and he kept coming back to us ! His owner collected him ,kept him in but as soon as he could he returned ,he has to cross two very busy roads,he was collected 15 times but always came back he has been with us two years now his owner does know we have him and keeps in touch 😊

And Beau (or Bo?) is a great name for him. I'm so glad that him and Maggie get on well too. If she annoys him too much, he will probably tell her what for, but he must be feeling safe to have rolled on his back and exposed his belly like that. Cats will only do that when they're comfortable and feel safe.
He should be allowed to discipline Maggie if she bothers him. He won't blind her or attack in a frenzy. She'll feel enough discomfort that she will understand and both animals will be more comfortable with each other. I have 11 dogs and 6 cats.

It's so sad when people dump animals we had a cat dumped in our street last year I fed and looked after him until I could get him in a sanctuary he had bladder issues that was easily fixed by medication the microchip in him had been cleared of information his owners clearly didn't want to be found he was a beautiful friendly cat and so very scared Bad news was I couldn't keep him Good news is he was adopted from the sanctuary and got the meds he needed
I am not a cat person but he is so lovely, I would have adopted him too. Well done for not buying a dog but rescuing from a shelter, so many need homes💓🐈🐕🦺

Just make sure to worm him and keep him flea free so the dogs don't bring fleas into the new house. Congratulations on having been adopted/chosen. From his behaviour, I would say that Beau/Bo has had some sort of hooman interaction before. So, next steps would be to get him neutered (stops him spraying everywhere to mark his territory- believe me, it stinks), and at the same time get him microchipped and a flea treatment. i am sure that his life as an outside cat will last about a week once he has been fixed!!
I once read a book called SOMEWHERE A CAT IS WAITING .it was about a couple who had a farm and one night they hear a cat outside their front door , funnily enough it was a ginger cat too , I think they called him something like fern or bracken for autumnal foliage ,the man in the book said often there are strays that just turn up when they know there is a possible home . I love that you took this cat in , I do believe it will bring you luck .

Definitely seems like it was dumped, usually feral cats wouldn't come close to you and be receptive to your touch so readily. So glad it found you two. Please don't get him declawed, I know some people do over there but cats rely on their claws for climbing among other things. And I don't think it will be an indoor cat ever so it'll need them. I would also add be careful feeding him dog food, as cats are pure predators whereas dogs can digest vegetable and plant matter too. Dogs can eat cat food but cats cannot eat dog food. Get him a can of tuna if you can't find cat food maybe. Cats tend to love it

It's so sad when people dump animals we had a cat dumped in our street last year I fed and looked after him until I could get him in a sanctuary he had bladder issues that was easily fixed by medication the microchip in him had been cleared of information his owners clearly didn't want to be found he was a beautiful friendly cat and so very scared
Bad news was I couldn't keep him
Good news is he was adopted from the sanctuary and got the meds he needed
I am not a cat person but he is so lovely, I would have adopted him too. Well done for not buying a dog but rescuing from a shelter, so many need homes💓🐈🐕🦺

How could you not fall in love with that wee face? Seriously love you for taking him on x Like you said, he will earn his keep by reducing the rodents and keeping other wee pests under control. Just make sure to worm him and keep him flea free so the dogs don't bring fleas into the new house. Fleas will live in soft furnishing/carpets until any warm body passes by to feed off, even you and Anna.

From his behaviour, I would say that Beau/Bo has had some sort of hooman interaction before.
So, next steps would be to get him neutered (stops him spraying everywhere to mark his territory- believe me, it stinks), and at the same time get him microchipped and a flea treatment.
i am sure that his life as an outside cat will last about a week once he has been fixed!!

I once read a book called SOMEWHERE A CAT IS WAITING .it was about a couple who had a farm and one night they hear a cat outside their front door , funnily enough it was a ginger cat too , I think they called him something like fern or bracken for autumnal foliage ,the man in the book said often there are strays that just turn up when they know there is a possible home .

A feral cat will not come near people. That cat was dropped off, otherwise you would of seen it before

If you plan on keeping him as an outside cat, please get him an insulated place. That plastic box doesn't do much, except for wind. And if you decide to let him inside, get him neutered, so he doesn't "mark" his territory... it smells so bad 😅 Cats are awesome! And it's amazing that he gets along with your dogs ❤

Please let him inside. The crate wont keep him warm enough in the freezing weather. Would you be happy if the dogs slept outside.

Definitely seems like it was dumped, usually feral cats wouldn't come close to you and be receptive to your touch so readily. So glad it found you two. Please don't get him declawed, I know some people do over there but cats rely on their claws for climbing among other things. And I don't think it will be an indoor cat ever so it'll need them. I would also add be careful feeding him dog food, as cats are pure predators whereas dogs can digest vegetable and plant matter too. Dogs can eat cat food but cats cannot eat dog food. Get him a can of tuna if you can't find cat food maybe. Cats tend to love it

The best cats are gingery sorta boys. Get him neutered and you won't get a more affectionate, loving pet.

I think the same as he wouldn't be so carm around Maggie and I also think it was put there on purpose as it's to friendly to be a wild cat . As a wild cat wouldn't let you go anywhere near it . By the looks of it someone has just put in on there property on purpose. Just my opinion
