Great video Karen. It’s a cool idea tracing and fitting a new garment based on a ready to wear outfit. The dungarees you’ve made and the ones you bought are beautiful ❤. Xx
Well done Karen. I copied a RTW tank top. That worked pretty well. I’m going to copy my husbands stretch fabric shorts. I’m considering unpicking them. They’re on their last legs. So that’ll give me a better fit.
Thanks Anne, I've now made the plain pair too and just love how they've turned out. I'm so glad copying worked! Well done with the tank top. That's a fab idea to unpick your husband's shorts...that will make it easier to get a true pattern. I'll have to try that for my husband too as he's very picky with his clothes xx
I’m glad you succeded in the copying, it’s such a great way to get patterns (and free!) that fit well! I have done it multiple times. I usually put the garment on top of the papper and draw around it with a pencil. Obviously correcting afterwards to get nice lines just like you did. If I feel uncertain I measure the garment as well. It’s very true that different fabrics change the fit, so good that you mention that! Both of your dungares look gorgeous, the rtw fabric is stunning 💖 Thanks for sharing, hope it will inspire a lot of people to have a go att copying!
Thank you so much Eva! That's a good tip to draw around the garment...will try it that way next time. I've since made the cord version and I only had to take those in a little so I'm glad I didn't change my pattern pieces. Good idea for measuring too ☺️👍. Xx
I love Bude and that shop is fab. All your hard work paid off, they look great on you. I used to live in dungarees when I was young. Alas I am 69 now and they aren't practical for me.
Thank you Janice...if I lived closer by I'd be in that shop all the time. They are a great wardrobe staple...but no I understand with the practical side of it. Going to the bathroom can be a nuisance lol xx
Well done Karen...they look great. I did try to copy my favourite sweater and loved it too. Don't think I would try to copy anything too adventurous lie your dungarees though. I'll stick to the Heydays for my grand daughter!! Love your vlogs.
Thank you Libby, I'm so pleased they worked out. It's funny as I feel like I'd struggle with copying a sweater lol. These were easier to grace than I thought. I've now madey other pair and they've turned out well too. I would like to try the heydays though xx
Absolutely super cool video, Karen!! I am on my second pair of merchant and mills harlenes because I absolutely love the first one but sizing down for this version. I'm considering hacking them into a pinafore and you've really inspired me! Take care and thanks for a great informative explanation. I need to try this on a ready to wear t shirt dress I have and love!
Thank you so much Christy! So glad I've inspired you 😊. I'll have to check out the Merchant and Mills Harlene ones. I think they are great to wear at this time of year. Glad to hear you found my video informative too, thanks for the feedback ☺️🧵 xx
Karen, these are great! I love the way they turned out. With tracing the dungarees did you place them flat out to trace them, or did you do it in sections? 🙌🏾🥰
Thanks Denise, they turned out better than I thought. I laid the dungarees out flat to begin with and traced the front bib and pocket off first and then I did the rest in sections...it was fairly easy though as everything was pretty flat. So next was the back bib and then the legs - one front and one back. Hope that makes sense xx
Hi Karen, they are amazing, you have done so well in copying the ready mades. You look lovely in both pairs.
Thanks so much Mary, I'm wearing them again today. They're so comfy and keep my legs warm ☺️. Xx

Thanks Becky, I'm super pleased with them and have literally been living in them. Definitely need to get on with making the next pair! Xx
