- I'll be showing you how to set up your Air Force Blues uniform the right way and make sure you pass your next inspection and keep people from walking up and correcting your uniform.
It can be very daunting to have to set up your blues after a long time of it sitting in the closet. Maybe you don't have a job where you have to wear it very often but all the sudden you got called in to meet the commander or something and have to have them ready immediately. This video is for you! Don't worry about setting them up and not remembering how. I will be going over all the rules according to AFI 36-2903 to make sure you look your best.
I'll be showing you how to set up your ribbons on your ribbon rack, how to align everything on your service coat and blues dress shirt, how to line up your name tape on your blues coat and shirt, how to align your occupational badge one your jacket and shirt, and how to put on the shirt stays to keep your shirt from looking baggy and wrinkled without tailoring.
If you like this video please subscribe and hit the like button! I will be putting out more videos like this in the future! Thank you for watching!

The opinions expressed in this video are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the air force or the us armed forces. I cannot be held responsible if you get in trouble for your blues uniform looking like a soup sandwich.
I love that I always come back to this video to figure out how to do this despite having done it multiple times.
I also come back to it lol Glad it helps!
I'm in AFJROTC, I've been in 2 semesters and have only worn service dress 2 times counting tomorrow, we usually do open collar (blues no tie, idk if everyone calls it that though) or ABUs on Tuesdays, I'm too lazy to look through the cadet guide to figure out the ranks for service dress.
First blues inspection in 3 years lmao I’m a bit rusty, just had to know exactly how to do the name tag
Same
I’m in als right now I appreciate this video 😂😂 got my first blues inspection tomorrow
The only thing that has changed really is the all, some, or none rule for ribbons. In ALS though you will likely have to wear all of them.
Reason I’m watching this video haha
Gonna be in formation for my first change of command ceremony tomorrow and narrating another one this week. I was stressed about my blues but this really helped!
instablaster.
Thanks for this! I had to set up a uniform for my late father-in-law's funeral and it's been a long time since I was in the Air Force myself.
I'm happy and touched that I could help!
First time wearing my blues in years, so this refresher was amazing thank you so much
Glad it helped!
I appreciate you, I switched over from the Army and needed to learn this; I'm a visual learner so this video helped tremendously!
Welcome to the Air Force!
Thank you for joining the better branch ;)
I hope this video was on your EPR cause it definitely helped.
Came in clutch for my promotion board, thanks
Thanks for this video, I am going to do AFROTC next year when I go to college and this really helped.
Good luck! I'm glad I could help'
Thanks! Getting ready for a retirement ceremony!
No problem! Best of luck to you man!
Hugely helpful, thank you Wingman!
Haha no problem! Glad I could help!
Great job, brother! You are a champ!
Not even in the air force but I found this helpful lol
I was a Cadwt Major at an All Male Military Academy. I was required to wear my Class A Dress Ujiform daily. I used many of these same practices and my Uniforms held up beautifully. Your video on how to make a single Windsor know tie was great too. In fact as part of my personal inspections was I require all Cadwts to remove their jackets and make sure all ties touched the belt. In fact I increased Class A Dress requirements to 85% of the School year. Yes they hated it so Imcreased it to 90%, 10 Years of Military School and 5 years in the service putting on my uniform and wearing it properly was pretty easy. Good way to show disviploine.
Spelling.
Dang bruh
thank you sergeant
My jacket pocket below where my ribbons are is slightly slanted, so I was told to make it parallel with the ground not the pocket, 🤷♂️, not sure if the uniform is messed up but I wish my pocket was straight
I’ll probably use this vid
Using this vid for phase 2
For the occupational badge, does it matter if the badge goes under the collar of the blue a little? Mines is centered above my ribbons but the collar covers the badge slightly.
Good luck Cohner Benson (winters ez) on your inspection tomorrow!
No cap shlime I finna rock dis bit
Thank you Sir!
You are welcome!
When wearing your service coat with ribbons, do you also wear another set of ribbons inside with your blues shirt?
Yes you do. Very rarely would you not do it.
@@JosephToddYT Not required though.
Only if you intend to take off your jacket
This has helped me so many times, i trally hoped you turned this into a bullet
It has helped me so many times too haha the only thing that's changed is the all, some, or none rule.
Thanks for this video
No problem!
I love it
I low key needed half of this box of afjrotc
I noticed if you put a ruler under the ribbons, they are slightly slanted if you run to the other side. Is the nametape going to be slanted or is it straight?
They need to be flat relative to the ground when you are wearing it. It gets a little hard to get perfect.
Wouldn't you just wear the same set up under that coat with your blues shirt? Ribbons, name Tag, and badges?
Nice
Good vid
How far down is duty badge if worn with long sleeve
Long sleeve or not it is the same.
Do you know how to mount medals on the USAF service jacket?
Wish you would’ve went into more detail... for example, you never mentioned where the service coat name tag goes as far as left/right on the right-hand side of the coat. I know the AFI does but the measurements are in relation to parts of the clothes that is hard to pinpoint through text only.
I understand and I'm sorry if it wasn't enough detail for you. It doesn't really have a measurement. It is just based on where your ribbons are on the pocket side.
I do show the trick on getting then straight but I'm sorry if it was still confusing.
Your ribbons go over your heart
Nice vid!!!
Thanks! I hope it helped!
Guess who’s back for a reminder
Even I come back for reminders haha
i cant remember if the occupational badge is mandatory or not , any know for sure??
It isn't unless there are specific rules like for ALS or NCOA.
What about buttoning the coat? In a debate with a friend who says to never button the bottom button. I've heard you button while standing and can unbutton while sitting. He's army and I've only done usaf JROTC so I don't really know.
As far as I know you can't unbutton it at all.
You don’t have to have your ribbons ribbons on the long sleeve if it’s on your service coat right?
Yeah, the AFI also changed to all some or none now too
When is it appropriate to wear the lightweight Jacket?
When you aren't wearing the blues service coat but you are wearing the blues shirt.
That badge on your coat. Would you wear the same one in size on your blues shirt? 1/2 inch still applies?
I'm in aircraft maintenance and there is a small badge and a larger one for us. The AFI can be confusing on that part. Are they the same size if you wear the blues shirt with the service coat? One for the shirt and coat?
Awesome video! Any idea where I can buy some of these spacers!?
You should be able to get them at any clothing sales on base or maybe a uniform store.
any card stock or foam backer board from mil sales..
My understanding the occupational badge is optional?
Correct
Hello I was one to join
I remember you bro!
Hey how long have you been in the air force in this video
6-7 years in the video I think.
By chance, can you iron the blues coat/pants? Asking for a friend :)
You can! You kinda have to actually haha
syeam through a towel.. works fine
If I wear no ribbons on the shirt, does my badge still go a half inch above the pocket or rest the bottom tip of the badge on the edge of the pocket?
It still goes half an inch above.
No regulation clip on or Velcro tie?
It didn't seem seem necessary to do a how to on a clip on tie. Everyone that joins gets a real tie and I have a video on that all by itself. Sorry if you were looking for how to use them.
No clip on ties or velcro ties are allowwed
I use toilet paper for the spacers lol but thanks for the vid
That's a great idea! I don't sell the spacers personally so thanks for sharing haha
I’m really trying to figure something out. Can an officer have an enlisted rank patch and if so would it be because of them being enlisted then switching to officer?
Officers can't wear enlisted rank. But did you mean some other kind of patch? Because if you go from enlisted to officer you could wear your old job patch.
@@JosephToddYT thanks that helped me out I’m just trying to research some stuff and I can’t find a ton of stuff on officers.
If you google AFI 36-2903 you will find everything that you need to know!
buya new jacket.. thats what clothing allowances are for
88k views. Turn this into an EPR bullet
I just might haha
Do ribbons have to be in a certain order?
Yes
Go to vmpf on air force portal to look at your ribbons
@@MrKillshoww thank you also if you go to a site called ribbon organizer it also shows you how to set it up
You completely skipped over the name tag
That's because I was setting up mine for ALS for this video. But it is directly across and level with the pocket on the other side. So it will be on your right side while wearing it.
