Thanks for this video. I got one of these, either wine delight or witchcraft, and this video has been of great help. AND I FOUND A BUMP!!! I can’t believe I grew that. I am so excited.
What a freaking awesome beard on William!! 🧔 Mine aren’t dropping leaves yet either. It’s actually sending up new growth, it just had blooms about two months ago and then started sending up a new growth. So now that new growth is just chugging along. It’s Frilly Dorris.
Hi.This has been very informative.I have a Catasetum Rebecca Northern x Expansum. It lost it's leaves in the late summer and sprouted a leafy growth and it has like a shorter spike that appears to be growing.Hopefully,It blooms in the spring. The bulbs all appear to be nice and firm
I love your chats with William. You guys always touch on things on many levels and make it easy to understand. So far my After Dark has 1 yellow leaf. My Clowesia bracts are busting so wont be suprised if I have leaves fall soon. My Tiawan Gold still looks lush and full🤷♀️ I have 3 plugs I bought from SVO early this year. They too will drop their leaves?
Thank you for the info!! Nice catasetums William!!! I didn't know about the blooms and the colors being darker in different conditions. I can't wait until my rescues have nice pretty bulbs like that!!! Stephen, I have a guestion. I have one bulb that has grown 2 keikis on it and nothing else since I had to let them dry out. Why is it doing this??(is it because the bulb might be weak and dying?)
Valarie Daugherty I would treat them as normal growths! They can put out new growths in weird places when growing conditions aren’t optimal for some reason.
Great video guys. Learned some things. None of my catasetums here in Fl are showing any signs of dormancy. My Black Pearl is in first bloom but they are all female flowers.
I was thinking Mr Stephen..... People (basically out of no specific knowledge on orchids, but just basic plant flowering knowledge) have added dried cow dung to orchids mounted on trees (using only coconut husk) and made them flower. I have seen that kind of fertilisation work on basic oncidiums (etc. dancing lady) and dendrobiums in rural areas. But never dared to try. 😅😅 But it worked for them since its actually a pure organic fertiliser for very acclimatised orchids just growing with not much care. And the cows only eat pure grass... so oh well anything might work if you use it at the correct time.
Thanks for this show. I really like and follow both of you. Stephen, I'm the person in the El Paso area that contacted you about Catasetums. Mine have done well this summer. I repotted and watered them in the PET method. They have been outside since May. Need to think about bringing them in though; nights are getting down to the 50s. I have one with a large spike and another with a spike starting. Looking forward to flowers. Thanks again, guys.
Ann Lewis Hi Ann! I’m glad the PET method worked well in El Paso! I’ve wondered if this technique would be useful in very arid places. Glad to see it is!
Great video as usual, both Stephen / William have knowledge
and advise that makes a lot of sense Thank you
Glad its useful! Thanks for the kind words!
Stephen & William,

Paula Marsh I know we’ve chatted on IG since you posted this, but yes, even the small ones will lose their leaves!
@@SVKLOrchids Yeah I figured on IG I could show you. Gives you a better chance of knowing what I am saying. Thank you so much!
Paula Marsh Exactly! I wish photos or chat were allowed on RUclips. Oh well!
@@SVKLOrchids IG will work just fine. Many keep wanting me to start my own channel. Not brave enough yet.

My Green Pets 🤣😂Flower spikes do that to me

Charles McKemie Female flowers shouldn’t happen on a fredclarkeara! Either it’s a mutant (which occasionally happens) or it might be mislabeled!
Good info. Thx.
