      I am GenX. Something has changed in our society and access to guns is NOT what has changed. I grew up in a town that had this same "gun culture". I got my first gun for Christmas when I was 9. I stored the gun and the ammo in my bedroom. By the time I was in HS I had multiple guns, including the loaded handgun I kept in my car that I drove to school everyday. Many of my classmates did the same. We were taught gun safety from an early age. We didn't have school councilors. I didn't have a good home life. I was THE kid everyone picked on growing up. It never entered my mind that shooting up the school was even an option. It never entered the mind of any of my friends who had full access to guns and ammo. Point is, something has changed in our society and access to guns is not it.

They knew he was hearing voices for years at this point. They knew they denied him treatment for it. They knew they had bought him a gun and ammunition. And they still did absolutely nothing. After seeing the photos, is there any question about the mental process of this entire family?

    • @Kallie4378
      @Kallie4378 7 месяцев назад

      Well that would make sense because when your mentally not feeling well the last thing your going to care about is making sure your house is spotless so yeah, maybe both parents were mentally unwell! All I know is it’s not my place to judge how other people live when you don’t know what they deal with on a day to day basis. If you want to judge them for not getting their son help or allowing him access to a firearm that’s one thing but there is no reason to judge them for not keeping a neat house! That has nothing to do with why this happened!

    Cute house from the outside but the inside is a total mess. Did the shooter really need 2 bedrooms? Sad that he wasnt raised in a more tidy and disciplined environment. I wouldn't be able to sit in such disaray. Very sad. Kids do better with love, nurturing and rules.

      The other bedroom was his step-brother's bedroom. I suspect that when his step-brother moved out and left a lot of stuff, it was easier to let Ethan use the space and his stuff instead of clearing it out.

    I like how Jennifer's Attorney was able to get in the "fact" that her client "didn't know the combination to the safe" or she had "no knowledge" of how to get in the safe, without putting her client on the stand and asking her directly. Were I the prosecution, I would have pointed out that the question has no reference to what Jennifer knew, or DIDN'T know about the safe. That maybe she did know, and maybe she didn't, that that has yet to be determined. Not leaving that fact hanging.

      No shade, but with it affecting you so much… I have to ask if you ever tried to clean it for her, or gotten help to do so? Would she make it difficult if you had, maybe out of embarrassment? Having that much chaos constantly is a sign of mental illness and self depreciation. I promise I’m not pointing blame on you, I’m just curious.

      I did have cleaners come in a few times but any benefits were short-lived and the clutter would be back within days. It got to a point where I couldn’t comment on it at all or it started a major fight. So I just lived with it for way too long. @@prittypandasmom6309

      That’s what I keep saying! It’s not fair to judge someone because their house isn’t neat when you don’t know them or know what their going through on a day to day basis! Most people that live like that DO have some sort of mental health issues! What it comes down to is he didn’t do what he did because his house wasn’t neat I can promise you that!

    Instead of buying a gun for your son, go out and buy a Bible to learn about being kind to other people. I am not a religious man, but it makes sense to me instead of buying a gun. For someone that mentally unstable and her lawyer is not ready for any kind of trail , let alone this trial at this magnitudeThe mother is so calloushe looks like what am I doing here? What have I done I don't believe she thinks that she did anything wrong. She could have stopped her husband for buying that gun.
    Yes, sir, she could have done that. She has no feelings for any of these families. She just wants to get yourself out of the this jam😢😢

    This child didn’t decide to shoot up his school because his parents don’t keep their house neat! He did it because #1, he was struggling with severe mental health issues that weren’t being addressed and #2, he had access to a weapon that he never should have so if you want to judge them for anything it should be for that, not because they aren’t good house keepers! When I watch tv I see SO many houses that look just like that inside with people who also have children and they don’t go and shoot up a school! There are SO many people in this country with mental health issues that can barley get by each day never mind making sure their house is neat, I’m sure that is the last thing on their minds when your struggling mentally every single day! Life is not as easy for some people as it is for others!

    This case, mainly in terms of the neglect the parents showed, Reminds me of the song “Jeremy,” by Pearl Jam. This trial reminds me in particular of the line, “and the boy was something Mommy wouldn’t wear.” Jennifer may not have been into clothes so much but replace the line with something regarding horses or anything else besides Ethan, and you’ve got is spot on.
