Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for! Love the bow, but couldn't find a good secondary combo to complement the bow, this is awesome! Love the block + heal stuff from GS! You got another sub :)
I am hoping for more on this. I am really having a lot of fun with this. I have never played a bow, but things are changing. The hop shot thing definitely takes a little practice to get into the groove of it. Thanks so much for your time and effort.
My man, this guide is absolutely superb! Hats off to you! I'm currently level 38 and was using GS/Sword and Shield and was kinda meh on it. The GS was problematic due to the stances, so i was thinking of switching to Hatchet or Bow, but after this detailed video, you have restored my faith in the GS and convinced me to use Bow over Hatchet. Amazing guide!
Excellent video! This looks like a lot of fun. I've just started playing last week and I really like the greatsword but wasn't sure which weapon to pair with it. I've been using spear and like it, but after watching this I'm definitely going to give the bow a shot lol
I’m a new player on a fresh start server who has been using this combo since I picked both up. I’ve been playing around with a lot of different paths and it just flows so well. I did the quest to craft the huntress bow at level 41 and having a 500 power weapon that early has made the opener So. Dayum. Satisfying. I neglected pen shot and evade shot to rush the sniper capstone and regularly 100-0 light armor wearers with a dodge/heavy shot/ exp shot.
Just got to 60 last night using GS and blunderbuss, was extremely fun. I bet bow would have been better but I was staying flagged the entire time and I would burst people down so fast with BB

Awesome video! Do you think that musket (swapping bow) could be equally viable for Brimstone Sands questing? If yes, do you have any build recommendation?
Ya I think it totally could, I love swappin my musky on sometimes just for fun haven't messed with it with GS yet tho. Most of the trapper abilities feel pretty clunky to me but could be fun to try to sticky bomb when you get a big knockback from your calamity counter. This link here would be a similar idea to bow goin for big open headshots with bowder burn in shooters stance to open fights. I like to try to never manually reload my musket, so every 6 seconds we can get the insta reload with the dodge and then you can use stopping power to animation cancel a reload, so with shots like powder burn / power shot / stopping power that have a load animation , I always try to load them right after I take a shot and it will fully replace the manual reload animation. So a good combo would probably be like big open with powder burn headshots in shooters stance, into dodge insta reload shoot, stopping power load to cancel the animation of that auto and get a knockback on next shot, then switch to greatsword and gap close with skyward slash off that knockback. COULD BE LIT GONNA TRY IT TOO nwdb.info/build?skills=6-nm5wec-r3b75s
very useful thank you! Just one question, on attibutes, why dont put to dext a bit less and put 50 in strengh ? I think that should be useful for the greatsword dps... but perhaps im wrong ;)
why dont you have the third skill in the defensive greatsword tree? I cant live without it. removes debuffs and you get a shield when you do heavy attack for a couple seconds
sadly probably not, devs have burned me too many times in the past I can't give it anymore of my time. I had an incredible time at the beginning tho was one of my fav games, I hope you enjoy your adventures out there. honestly they have hardly changed anything gameplay/mechanics wise from the very beginning so most old builds guides you find like this will probably work for the most part with a couple minor tweaks

Great video mate, very helpful keep goin' The gems for ring/amulet/earring a in the same logic as in the armor? I see you have put on ONYX is this the best for a pve player?
I try to go for a 12.5% physical reduction / 7.5% elemental reduction overall with everything combined, so because some of my gear has opal I put onyx to balance it out. Pretty sure this would be the exact split you would have if you went full diamond. Also the conquerer's/voidbent sets I'm wearing have base elemental armor that is higher than the physical, so I try to cover that a bit with more physical reduction. I think in general there is more physical damage in the game but the magic dmg can be more punishing sometimes
Just off the trading post a while back, either from drops or crafts, now that they added this golden scarab with brimstone sands there is a better chance crafters can craft bis gear so you will be able to start finding more bis jewelry like this then you used to. Just use the filter thing to search for the perk stack you are lookin for
After some testing I figured the evade shot skill for the bow, does not provide as much value.. If you swap that for rapid shot, there is way more synergy/flow when running all the 3 hunter skills.. The rotation would be like charged/heavy shot, it idles the enemy and your aim is already there to follow up with instant 'explosion shot' after, enemy comes running towards you with burn DoT and you then have some time left to perform the 'penetrating shot' in the same aim window, it is also handy when explosion has hit multiple foes, they run towards you in straight line sometimes, allowing you to benefit from the penetration shot more.. Then when they get close you can perform rapid shot where the 3rd shot has bit of delay to re-adjust aim also works great hip fired.. The 5m 'evade shot' is not good enough, foes just easy step forward forcing you to swap from bow to secondary anyway and that one shot is very easy to miss when character jumps - furthermore the damage output even full spec (with the sub skills) 'rapid fire' has less cooldown, more damage and overall has more accuracy than evade.. Also note that sub skill 'burn' for the explosive arrow has more value than 'evasive tactics' needing to evade before every shot has no logic in synergy/flow while lining up shots as fast as possible, you want to use just one zoom for one full rotation as quick as possible to do most damage, also great for hunting to follow a deer when it is burning, all I said should make common sense.. Convince me otherwise, cheers!
This is pretty accurate. You get a 5m jump back, and half the time the enemy just slides right to you. Not even an animation. They just slide across the ground. I love this build and still play it at 60. I made some adjustments to it though, as I noticed that New World does not handle ranged, magic or physical, very well at all. Ever been firing heavy shots and skills at a mob running right at you and it constantly slides slightly left or right causing you to miss every shot? No animation change at all. They slide unnaturally left or right just enough for the arrow or ability to miss. I nail headshots consistently, but when a mob starts running at me and I notice that shit starting I just pull out the Greatsword and run up to them. No use wasting time. The same thing happens with spells. My wife plays a fire/ice mage and it happens to her as well. Not constantly, but at least 4 or 5 mobs out of a 2 hour gaming session will be ranged invincible. It really hurts when it is a named elite. You just have to run and reset.
@@groovelife415 Interesting, I should add to just try Guild Wars 2 if you never tried it before .. And go see how in my opinion the best mmo overall, looks and feels like.. Cheers!
@@SkywalkFPV I love Guild Wars 2. I agree that it is one of the best MMOs out there. Hands down the best mounts. The way they are used and needed to traverse the maps is awesome. Probably the best map designs I've seen in any MMO as well. Most MMOs design map zones horizontally with a few valleys and peaks. New World is designed that way. Guild Wars 2 is built horizontally and vertically. It's a really fun experience that is unique to GW2.
good build but disregarding crosscut is not really acceptable for this build imo, one of the main endgame attributes u need to solo is lifesteal on the final attack of crosscut, it also has so many crit modifier passives. why would u not use that?
In general I really don't like ability animations that are long and glue me to the ground. Same reason I don't run rapid shot with bow. When tryna play at a high level in medium or light armor, can't afford to be stuck in an animation for that long while just taking hits to the face. I think it could be solid with a 300 dex / 200 con heavy build for sure. But the fact that it has very low mobility, combined with the fact that you need a gear perk for the heal & it's only on the 3rd strike, doesn't seem worth to me for the way I'm tryna play. This build already gives a ton of self healing with 2/3 abilities that give a self heal without needing a perk, combined with energized critical passive, massive lifesteal from the undying defiance keystone, on top of all the leeching perks mentioned on the gear.
You could definitely trade them out I think I just always favor mobility from pvpin alot usually, I like to try to dodge and avoid dmg often even in pve. Glad you are enjoying it!!
Because only one of the weapons scales with strength, so any points invested into str are half as valuable as into dex for your overall damage, also greatsword is unique in that it scales identical with dex & str (80% for both) rather than having a primary attribute and a secondary attribute like other weapons (which are 90% primary / 60% second attribute scaling). 150 is the best con perk and is the only checkpoint worth hitting if you are going medium or light, then everything should go into more dmg from there. Attributes still scale very well beyond 300 even though the bar ends - one of my favorite builds to run around in is dex/rapier light at 450 dex / 50 con because the dmg is just absolutely insane.
nice work , really helpful , i'm a new player in a fresh start server one question though , how the hell i'm suppose to level up and trying out more than a weapon at the same time ? without getin xp and rush the game .
You can level up weapons pretty fast especially early on in the weapon level - I would recommend finding a primary stat that fits your playstyle (strength for big melee weaps, dex for agility/ranged weaps, int for magic weaps) then testing out different weapons within that stat because that way you don't have to overhaul your gear when you're trying new weapons you can just swap if you base stat already supports it. I did Dex most of the way up levelin at launch and it was a really good one for tryin stuff out because there are a buncha dex weapons and even a couple str weaps that scale secondarily with dex so all kinds of combos to try
Love this one it's on the list actually, very underrated very strong pvp build in my opinion (at least it used to be) will def be tryin it out again soon
@@Zikorik I totally agree. I feel like its super underrated pvp build. But would like to see your take on what/how you build it. For Lvling it makes alot of things so simple its silly sometimes.
How would speccing say 3 str/2 dex/1 con? Really wanna go Bow/GS but then throw in SnS when I’m going for expeditions cuz I want to tank in them but want a good range/melee combo for open world questing and such
Honestly I don't think you'll have enough total attributes for this mix to feel good, you'll probs just wanna drop the 200g to respec your attributes if you are tryna go back & forth like this. With that split your greatsword and S&S will feel really strong, your bow will feel weak and you might not have enough HP for tanking unless you are cracked. 300 str / 200 con is a really feel good bruiser stat build at 60 cus all the attribute perks you get work very well for melee weaps and tanking, if you are wanting to swap to a ranged weapon without respeccing maybe try out blunderbuss or throwin hatchets cus they scale with strength. You can also tank as dex if you wanted to go 300 dex/200 con heavy and rock S&S/Bow then you can swap bow to spear for tanking
@@Zikorik what I winded up doing is going 2 str/1 con and am using bow in open world but not putting stats into dex just getting dex from the bow itself since I’m only using it to tag anyways and then gs the enemy down once in melee range
This is the only greatsword guide I've done so far but there are going to be a ton of strong pairings so it will depend on how you like to play - because it scales equally well with strength and dex, you can pair it with any of those weapons and it will be strong. If you are pairing it with a strength weapon go for like a 3:2 strength to con ratio, if you are pairing it with a dex weapon go for 3:2 dex to con ratio on your attributes and the weapons will scale well and feel strong
One thing to make this unstoppable for open world is a GS with trenchent recovery. It's a cheat code and should actually be nerfed lol. It's like having a healer everywhere you go.

same
Is this still viable?
One thing to make this unstoppable for open world is a GS with trenchent recovery. It's a cheat code and should actually be nerfed lol. It's like having a healer everywhere you go.
Can you make a pvp build ?
yep workin on it, gonna do my first sesh tonight to test it out
@@Zikorik Thank you! Really great job BTW,in-depth yet very easy to understand for new players like myself. I really appreciate the step by step progression too, definitely looking forward for your future content, keep it up!
@@jherryleealcid5901 hell ya thanks homie :D
Dude playing the minecraft combo
44:40 ??? Lol
I clicked the link for the RP storyline and now I'm disappointed
as soon as i saw you using medium Armor in pve i switched off
Light is the way to go PvE and PvP?
Just dont go medium if you using bow ;D unless you do 0 pvp ;D
why
@@GamingDualities becose of mobility ,you will become target for all spiers , hachet and rest enemys;D
@@BABYZARIEL yes but why exactlly. i noticed i can do 2 dodges with medium before my stamina needs to regenerate... even tho medium dodge is arguably the best. fast, good armour...
@@GamingDualities how many medium bowman you see in last 30 opr? ;D point is you lose mobility, like exsample you have 0 chanse vs light gs /hachet. Its like 2 pvp rules, you must have 1 ability to run away, like berserk, rapier, leap strike, ir use light rools to tun run away,. I not saying you build is bad, but bow and gs have 0 run away abilitys.
@@BABYZARIEL hatchet and greatsword cc immunity seems op. magic wepons feels bad and easy to juke imo
Way to long of a video....sheesh. You could have put this in a 10 minute one...
Shame they haver made the game lagy as fuck due to less servers never happened before when I played. Now it's a little bit then I have to come off and it's not my computer same one I had when I first started this game.
The entire servers full with this two stupid broken wepons GG amazon . So unbalanced atm, hope they will nerf to the ground like the great axe
