    Thank you for the videos. Love this series. I wish you had better audio though. Pronunciation is a challenge for me and some guidance videos for pronunciation for challenging words and sounds would be awesome. Không is one word I cannot for the life of me pronounce, and I hear wildly different pronunciations out there.

      This is what we called the fish mouth rule, to pronounce ông, you need to create a bubble in your mouth. Let us know what other words are difficult for you and we'll make a video about it! Regarding the audio, thanks to our patrons on Patreon, we are now equipped with better microphones, you can also help us to produce better quality videos by becoming one of our patrons, there are exclusive content for our patrons as well. www.patreon.com/tiengvietoi Thank you for your feedback.

      The pronunciation of Vietnamese will remain a challenge for years to come, partly because they use the sound possibilities in a very different way. We use them to make it clear what we mean, for example we can pronounce 'yes' in many tones and then 'yes' always means something different, varying from 'no way' .. 'maybe' to 'yes great!' . However, Vietnamese use the sound capabilities to expand their vocabulary. In addition, they have tones that always require a lot of attention, while those that are not that difficult to learn (we use the same tones, including for the different variants of 'yes'), on the other hand, they have more than 30 vowels. and according to language professors it will take at least 10 years before we can distinguish and use them. On top of that, as in this beautiful series, words can take on different meanings in combination. Just take the famous [ma] used to show that it changes meaning six times with different tones. Just look up the combination [m+a] in a dictionary... it has more than 50 different meanings,
      In my new video ruclips.net/video/kmPNG2wenNk/видео.html I explain how these differences arose.

    3:55 If "đởi" means "life", how does "đáng đởi" mean "it serves you right"--as opposed to, say, "lively" (full of life)?

    • @ucchau173
      @ucchau173 5 лет назад

      Tom Mullen đời mean like not đởi( what is đởi mean ????lol đởi no meaning in vietnamese ,srr my english bad...)...

    • @alistonnguyen4182
      @alistonnguyen4182 5 лет назад

      "Đời" is a noun (not adj), so "đáng đời" isn't "lively". It literally means: someone did something bad and that person will not do that again in the rest of his/her life.
      If you want to use "lively"(sống động/tràn đầy sức sống), use "đáng sống" (worth to live) instead. Not 100% accurate in meaning, but close enough.

    • @longtrinh3410
      @longtrinh3410 4 года назад

      It means "You deserve the kind of things that life brought upon you" and is only used when bad things that happen to someone that deserved that. And "đời" does not exactly mean life, it only refers to the earthly, not-you side of life, not the technical "living" - the act of breathing for example belongs to "sống" and not "đời" while working and finding a job belongs to "đời". Đời also never refers to your personal life but rather your interaction with everything around you - hence the phrase "sống trên đời". If you want to say lively you are referring to the technical "living" thus it is "đầy sức sống" - literally "full of life".

    • @Tiengvietoi
      @Tiengvietoi  5 лет назад +1

      Anh Jens ơi, nói thế không chính xác lắm vì "đáng tiền" dùng khi something is worth the money you spent on it. You don't spend money on teaching but you make money from it. But your students can say "Lớp học tiếng Đức của thầy Jens rất đáng tiền" :)

      Hi T Ngo yes in Vietnamese we normally combine an adverb of degree with an adj, it's more natural. Not using adverbs of degree is not grammatically wrong, but it just doesn't sound as natural.
