I'm so glad you picked Linux up, your videos have helped me so much on my journey to better understand Linux and its inner workings and fix all the mistakes I've inevitably made along the way (or that windows has decided to make for me). I really couldn't be more grateful to you. Not only did you help me so much but you also inspired me to go back to Arch from Manjaro and I couldn't be happier, it really is my favorite distribution and it was my first too, which always makes it special. Thank you so much for your effort and dedication to the channel, it's really been wonderful discovering it.
Someone from the brazilian Arch Linux community told me about your channel and for me, it is, by far, one of the best that I've seen. Well, I'm still a beginner on Linux but I really think that Arch Linux is worth it, especially for me, a future CS student. Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Even though I have used GNU/Linux for 23 years your channel has given me insight in Arch customisation and configuration that I might not have otherwise found. Thank you and please keep up the good work.
I love arch for the same reason. I've been using ubuntu based distros for around 10 years and never found the motivation to dig deeper into the linux world. Then a month with manjaro did the trick and it immediately convinced me to try arch. After a whole day of trying I managed to install it for my first time... and two days later I also broke it. But damn if I didn't find it entertaining and educational! For a few months I kept reinstalling and breaking arch every few weeks while trying different options, learning some of the linux basics and to actually pay attention to the damn manual. Needless to say, your channel helped me a lot during my first days as an archer and your "last" arch linux installation (I think it was the one from May 6th 2020) was my reference back then. Now I still watch your Arch installations whenever there are interesting upgrades, like the last one with the updated archinstall script, and your channel is still the first one where I search linux-related stuff that picks my interest, for example recently I was curious about RHCSA and Fedora Silverblue and of course I found out you talked about both! Thanks a lot, Ermanno.
Thank you for sharing your insights, Ermanno. I think I’ve learned more about Arch from you than all other sources combined, even the WiKi. You rock, sir!
Ermano,,, You served motivation needed for me to shutdown Windows and start using ArchLinux as my primary desktop. It’s been 8 months since I switched recovered from 3 crash using BTRFS snapshot. I even challenged my manager, coworker and friends to switch to Arch Linux and suggested your video as 1st step towards this. You keep video free from sale pitch and personal opinion and share what you know with humble heart and I appreciate that wholeheartedly.
I viewed your video on using BackInTime software and was very impressed with your teaching ability. Years ago I successfully set up a PC with FreeBSD but felt my success was more good luck than good management! For the past 5 years I've been running Ubuntu and just recently loaded Trisquel 9.0 on another older laptop. However, again I don't feel that I am using Linux as it should be used, more like a lightweight Windows 7 type of experience. I try to use the terminal to rekindle the excitement I felt back in the late '70s when I bought my first Commodore 64 using the command line to accomplish ,what seemed at the time, magic. I'm now 75 years old and it's do or die time, so I will embark on this journey of learning Linux with you as my guide. Winter will be here in northern Canada before you know it and this seems like a worthwhile project to pass those long days. Thank you for this channel.
Love this video, a little background on your Linux career and background. Although I had installed Arch a couple of times prior to discovering your channel, it's great to see you cover some more advanced setups with filesystems like BTRFS and encryption and so on. Big fan of the channel and your videos.
I just wanted to mention that, when I decided to install Arch, I was not sure how to start and looked for RUclips videos. At that time, the third to come up was one of your videos and it was that the video that gave me confidence of continue and install Arch with all the perks. I still follow your approach of having bash files with the commands to install specific desktop environment and for reset Arch installation (That for me was one of the best videos). Thank you so much for your work. Keep it up!!!!
I've really enjoyed your videos and have learned from them. That is even after decades of Linux use. I am 48 so I can relate to you on that. You are never to old to learn.
Hello Ermanno, thank you for the interesting Video. I wish you all the best for your job and keep up the good work. Through you I learned to install Arch Linux properly and could deepen my Linux knowledge. Your channel is one of the best in the field for me. No blah blah or the like but factually presented instructional videos. This is great work that you provide for us. Thank you for it! Greetings from northern Germany (Glinde near Hamburg) Gerd
Ermanno, ho visto tantissimi tuoi video ma questa è la prima volta che commento. Davvero tanti complimenti!
I am using Arch, Ermanno. Two years ago I was using Linux Mint, so thank you for this channel. Your content is really great! Greetings from Petrópolis, RJ, 🇧🇷.
I just wanted to say hello. It was a while ago I watched your videos now. I learned a lot when I did. As some of Arch Linux users do, I also did. I tried OpenBSD and found that OS very interesting. That's why I haven't been here for a while. But I glad to see there are a lot of new videos to watch. Greetings from a curious guy from Sweden.
Very cool getting to hear a bit of your story. Your videos have brought me more help on Linux than any other channel! I would love to see a video going over your recommendations for how to pass the Linux certification as that is my next goal!
Oh man, you're an overachiever 🤣, you are good on this for someone relatively new to this. You have become the great master fast Master Ermanno, keep creating these wikis.
Thanks Ermanno, to know about you and your passion towards Linux. I swear I was very scared of Arch Linux, but after following you, I have installed it and learning alot. Boldened by this last week I have installed Gentoo and experiencing it's nuts and bolts, certainly a very time consuming as it is compiling everything in your computer...Any way thanks again and good wishes for your new apartment.
You are a very positive person. I'm really looking forward to the next stream. Thank you for sharing your love for linux and for your videos. Good luck to you in everything.
I too started loving arch Linux and it's installation along with multiple window managers. I had done multiple installations of arch Linux on my PCs and learnt a lot from almost all of your videos. I would recommend your channel for any new person who is willing to learn Linux. Thank you for all of your work.
Ermanno, carissimo, mi sono fatto una risatina al "i don't know everything about Arch": magari sara' vero, ma e' impossibile non sorridere. Un abbraccio grande
Thanks for your hard work, really good content. I like the idea of videos about certification tips, but Arch Linux + Btrfs + Snapshots + Encryption + Secure Boot would be awesome.
Ermanno excellent videos. I am also a big Archlinux fan. Gentoo (source code install OpenRC) is another favorite of mine. Gentoo is easy compared to LFS. Also done a several installs of Linux From Scratch (LFS), one System V and other Systemd. If your into pain and deep research of editing code LFS will keep you busy for weeks if you plan on both a Base and GUI install. LFS is a true bottoms up install of Linux. :) Look forward to seeing your quality videos again.
I enjoyed this episode and what you say is so true. I started with Linux way back in 1992 writing scripts and in 1998 was using Linux full `time with everybody telling me I was crazy. Thanks you for sharing your experience with us about certification. when ever it comes to linux I only trust your channel you taught me a lot about linux and coz of you my interest came back on linux
My first experience with Linux was Red Hat 4.2. I enjoy Arch for the same reasons. I believe you are a wonderful human being for sharing knowledge as you do. Peace.
Great insight. I am thinking about how to go about similar things right now since I love GNU/Linux and the BSDs and I've been thinking about LFS and Gentoo. Using it it and how it all works. I would love job interview videos for sure. Cool video!

I spent 2 decades working as a systems analyst for a large casino corporation. My number 1 piece of advice is this. If you don't know the answer, don't be afraid to say "I don't know. Let's figure it out before we do anything that might break something." No one is expected to just know everything. You don't have to know it all. You just have to know how and where to find the answers.

So great, thanks for this very timely video. I'm 43 years and am heavily considering having a job with Linux here in Poland. What are your thoughts over LPIC-1, LPIC-2 and LPIC-3 certifications ?
Good video Sir. Didn’t know you were a musician previously. You’re correct that if you put time and energy you can achieve anything. I do have a suggestion about your Arch installation and BTRFS subvol setup. Can I email you if you provide me one?
Dear Mr. Ferrari, what are your thoughts on the F2FS filesystem? I have seen that you have covered the btfs filesystem in the past quite extensively, would that be possible for F2FS as well? Thank you for this channel and your hard work!
Tatsächlich Ich hätte mein erste arch install dank Ihre videos Sir ! Sie machen sehr gute content , ich bin dankbar das ihre chanel gefunden habe, und toi toi toi beim neue Job Sir.
Hi Ermanno, I really love your work. However I hv come across a major problem with Arch Linux, to be honest, I found out various other blogs and arch wiki, without any major help. The issue seems to be happening more on AMD MOBO DESKTOPS. It would be great, if you can shed some light on this and help us out, because a lot of people are facing this issue on linux machines, especially vanilla arch. The issue is I have 32 GB OF RAM installed on my machine, however Arch shows only 14 GB of RAM. This has bugged me for quite a while now. I don't even know if this is a normal behavior of Arch Linux or not, that too, I don't know.
Thank you for all of the videos that you have made. While I enjoy your normal videos, this "informal" one was good. If you do another, I would appreciate if you talked more about your experiences with getting the Red Hat certification. For example: what you did to prepare for the exam and what the exam was like. In your next Arch installation video, could you show how to get SELinux working? Every time I try, SELinux never works like it does in Fedora for example. Thanks again!
I have a question! Could you do a video about how to migrate the home partition? For example you’ve added a second drive and want to move to home partition to the new drive and extend the root partition. Or in general an installation with 2 separate drives! Would be awesome!
Maybe you should make a video on your linux certification what you have learnt there and what new tricks or your mistakes etc. Just an overview I meant.
Congratulations on the job maybe in the future give tutorials on my SQL on arch Linux and hosting database and remote connection and updating and alike. Just an ideal really please give this some thought because the uses and possiblies with this are endless
Am going to make a very long comment as brief as possible. I am going through the Essentials of Linux Administration online training. However, I am not a learner by reading or by just reading and doing. I do much better watching and listening and then getting my hands dirty. Any chance you could do some videos on that? Thanks!
I have Linux mint 2 months now and i am completely dissapointed by the hd 1080p resolution and lack of smooth streaming having tiny laggings .My speed is 100 megs and my laptop is 2 years old acer. Before that win10 were playing like a charm with hd 1080p in all video platforms whether youtbube or other viedo on demand tv websites.ANy suggestions should i try a different distro? Thanks.
Fun fact: Most Linux Users on RUclips often claim "you can build the machine yourself blah blah blah" then they choose Gentoo to show audience how hard core they are but here is the catch: 99% of the time, these self-called Linux users install Gentoo on virtual machine that already has Internet via Ethernet. It means they want to choose the easy way, not the hard way, not the building from scratch like they usually be proud of. #braggers !!! Real Linux users are those who actually wake their network interface up, calling manufacture name with code and get it connects to WIFI, explains to people what stage the Wireless card is ---> this is only found in *Unix / BSD community years ago, these true hard core users don't depend or rely on available Internet (via Ethernet) and knows what devices they use, not by the look of the out side of their machines. They dig into their command lines.
Thanks for sharing this informations with us. I was indeed very happy to manage an arch installation because of your Videos. Sadly the new installer makes it way too easy to do this so for me it becomes less of a challenge. Actually i am still looking for my fav Linux distribution so i might ask you a question here: Would you do an blackarch installation too to share with us ? That is one distribution i want to look closer onto. However, i hope your movement will go well and we will see new videos from you soon again.
Some people are lucky enough to be good teachers and I can honestly say that in my opinion here on RUclips you are one of the best. 🙂
I second that opinion.

Maybe you should make a video on your linux certification what you have learnt there and what new tricks or your mistakes etc. Just an overview I meant.
good luck.
Congratulations on the job maybe in the future give tutorials on my SQL on arch Linux and hosting database and remote connection and updating and alike. Just an ideal really please give this some thought because the uses and possiblies with this are endless
I like you and that you like good for other people! What was your old job? and yes I am interested on a video about certifications and jobs!

Thanks.
How can i jump on linux distro if i dont have all drivers for my hardware ?!

Let's put the NT kernel.... Then GNU/NT shall be born
