You're last comment made me laugh and yes I was listening 😅 I haven't plastered in years and last week did a vaulted ceiling. Great job looking fabulous. I start at bottom because when plaster first mixed and more runny I don't drop plaster by the time I do tops just right consistency for me.
I do the same. Easier to pull the slippy gear up the wall for the first 5 mins. 5 mins in and it loses that glossy slippy feeling a bit and it's easier to pull the tops in.
Should have took the skirting boards off first if they ever have to come off in the future there boxed inn and cause damage to the wall on removing sponging works though I've tried this method
Strengthen studs ,long ways you have a 2.4 vertical joint were as horizontal joint it's only 1.2 and staggered also another weak spot at door frames ,shouldn't be and joints in line with door frames ,too much movement, prone to cracking
@@petergray882 it makes sense what your saying. Trouble is no one can be arsed. There all running round like headless chickens trying to make it pay on pricework
it will for 99% of cases,,,,, if there is too much movement then you will need to open up and refit or refill Scrim tape is 100% the tried and tested solution.
do you not wash and wipe down ceiling, adjacent walls. skirting and dig out excess plaster from electric sockets when finished? Guess you will leave that for the next guy when it will be 100 times harder and also risk cracking plaster around sockets - I hate plasters you don't leave a tidy job personally. I'm not saying you will leave it - as you are still there and I know you were just doing it the sponge technique for the video. Good job and yes being under 5'10" you are correct it helps to be taller in a 2.4 std ceiling house.
looks a good job im looking to do a wall or two at home myself

Just adding more work to a job that doesn’t need to be done
@@leopaul1774 Your opinion matey every one knows better
True biggest problem with plastering put on 2 much skim to tight coats that is a lot of work he is doing
Couldn’t see any of it just need to get camera angles closer
If boarded horizontal you dont get boards cracking and it has more structural strength
@@petergray882 how does it have more structural strength out of interest?

You only have a 1.2 joint running on a single upright stud rather than a 2.4 ,it's braced better if you know what I mean
@@petergray882 yeah it does crack above the doors with them slamming. I’ve seen that loads
@@petergray882 it makes sense what your saying. Trouble is no one can be arsed. There all running round like headless chickens trying to make it pay on pricework
Scrim tape is no grantee to stop cracking ,it stops gear falling out of joint
@@petergray882 what’s your suggestion then?
Overboard horizontal or try more screws
@@petergray882 are you saying that it can’t crack if laid horizontally?

It all cracks in time anyway. Just easi fill when you next decorate

Never assume!
@@SBanderaB I always cut out plaster from sockets
Was taught the sponge way 35yrs ago since i left, I've never used it as a total waste of time in my option
