- In the tense thriller The Marsh King’s Daughter, a woman with a secret past will venture into the wilderness she left behind to confront the most dangerous man she’s ever met: her father. In the film, Helena’s (Daisy Ridley) seemingly ordinary life hides a dark and dangerous truth: her estranged father is the infamous Marsh King (Ben Mendelsohn), the man who kept her and her mother captive in the wilderness for years. When her father escapes from prison, Helena will need to confront her past. Knowing that he will hunt for her and her family, Helena must find the strength to face her demons and outmaneuver the man who taught her everything she knows about surviving in the wild.

Ben Mendelsohn looks terrifying in this, his range and talent are astonishing. Daisy is absolutely perfect in this, amazingly talented. Can't to see this. Love filmmaking like this!

Let me be very clear. The staff at Rotten Tomatoes were either high of d///rugs or the rating given is false and no staff there seen the film. This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece. How this got 38% is enough to make me wanna jump off a bridge. What a film.
i never rely or even take notice of a rotten tomatoes rating. they literally have no idea when it comes to rating tv. ive seen so many great shows/films that have a bad rating and then ive seen awful films that have a good rating. as you said theyre probaly high or drunk lol
What is this movie about?
The movie starts off the daughter is around 8 years old maybe 10. Her dad stands behind her in the forest and with telling her very little he asks her questions and monitors her way of following animals. For example furr is on the branch of a tree whats difference between deep foot prints and shallow was the animal running etc.
He then gets sent to prison 20 years and she gets on with her life escaping her dad. Her dad would tattoo her after each kill or each lack of accomplishment she'd gets tattoe'd again. She turns adult hes locked up she starts a family. He gets out or escapes and she with her childhood skills learns to out wit her dad. @@thundergodgamer118

On Tuesday (12/05/2023) im watching this on IMAX in Cairo, Egypt.
This looks great. I'm American and live in Egypt. IMAX price is about $6 to $8 per ticket depending on which location you watch it at.
The seats are ao big amd comfy here in Egypt, you have to fight not to sleep hehe

I would have been more impressed if Rey had been Director Krennic’s daughter after he escaped Scarif and turned her into a killer on Degobah.
Okay so first I heard of this was from a screen rant article saying the movie flopped. So I looked it up. This looks really good. I’m kind of pissed it didn’t get advertised to me because I totally would have gone to see this when it was out.

Good movie I liked it a lot.
The hooves pinch together when running in fear, they don't relax. Spread out. Nope.
Tighten and clenching the hooves which allows quick passage through mud clay and swamp water.
Walking creates suction for stability when hooves part.

@mazurbeam this would take place in the eastern end of the UP. Finnish accent is no where near as prominent as out the west end.

The title is ripped off from a Grateful Dead song called "Mountains of the Moon"

*Spoiler Alert :*
I really wish that when they make movie adaptations of books, they stick more to the plot and characters in the book. The father is half White and half American Indian; Ojibwe, to be exact, with long black hair, and Helena favors her father in if not in complexion since her mother was Danish, but has black hair too.
There was no situation with social services taking Helena away when she was 12. They lived off the grid in the middle of nowhere because her father Jacob was a kidnapper as well as a rapist, so wouldn't exactly want to advertise that.
As far as the villain goes, maybe some people would have been upset or offended, which personally, I don't know why because a bad person is a bad person no matter their ethnicity. In my opinion, many movie adaptations DON'T do justice to the books and aren't worth watching and this is one of those instances and if you read the book and havent seen the movie, I wouldn't recommend it.

All you can really say about this movie without giving anything away is a woman wants to end the nightmares of a man who kidnapped her mother years ago thats now came back to haunt her.
Or just say woman wants to end a man who kidnapped her mother yesrs ago. Very difficult not to spoil this kind of movie.

How about the way we perceive things isn't always the actual reality and we should try to step out of our own reality to try to see & understand how it is for others instead of gaslighting. Ppl need to realize that the real monsters are sometimes right in front of them but they're so caught up in their alternate reality, they can't even perceive it.
