THIS HAPPENED TO ME, and it SUCKED. I lost a lot of money and nearly had my account shut down because the bank marked the checks as fraudulent. I didn’t know any better, and I legitimately never knew a lot about checks 😭 It sucks, as a small artist who’s just desperate for commissions and rarely gets any THIS SUCKS. I lost a lot of money, I was able to recover, but it is the meanest trick for every artist involved.

This happened to me literally this week so (Tuesday) someone message me saying that they really like my art and etc and want to commission me, I who is trying to move out an abusive house hold says yes and they just said $200 and I didn’t even name my price. So long story short by later the week (Thursday) I go to the bank, explain it, they said they get this a lot and the check fake so I cuss them out and they still try getting my money but I don’t have any so I block them. They got free art still. I just gave up because nothing good ever happens to me so I should had known.
So sorry to hear you had to go thru this : ( I know I can't do much but don't let this pull you down (cz you said nothing good happens to you), don't worry it's a journey we have to pass thru, good is there for you..just wait ; ) (little personal experience) I love your art just checked it out!!
i’m so sorry you had to go through all of that, these scammers can be aggressive so i’m glad you blocked them. i’m really happy you checked with your bank too, that could’ve been a really bad situation. i really hope things get better for you and that you’re able to leave that environment. please take care 💕
That happened to me too! The scammer claimed it was their son's birthday, I almost got scammed but the convo started to get strangely robotic or rehearsed. So I noped out. Literally the same sitch

This is why I generally don’t except checks except if I personally know these people and have history with them. Someone approached me for a commission a few months ago and wanted me to draw their child, they from the start said they were willing to pay around like 200$ with the money on their child’s bank account, which, to me is a red flag since usually these accounts are there to save money for school/college/uni etc. They were also very vague about what they wanted and wanted me to do the art. I was rly surprised with how similar this account (now deleted) was to the one in this video. I’m glad I said no to the commissioner looking back at it bc ever since I always had this lingering thought of what if they weren’t a scammer, but I just didn’t have the right feeling🙈
Omg this same scamster tried to scam me a few months back. She used the same backstory, except the girl's name was maryjane and instead of cinderella, she liked spiderman along with cat boy. Thank goodness i have severe trust issues so i insisted on paypal only (she overlooked it three times, always bringing up the check, until finally gave up the third time i said "paypal only"). i blocked her after less than a day, so don't really know if she still tried to get in touch after that. -_-
Watched this video when it first came out! Came back today, because this person or someone using these pics just commented on my IG trying to ask about commissions…! (I recognized the clothing in the pics…! TY FOR THIS VIDEO!)

I tried to explain that I only take payment through PayPal and she told me that she could only send me a picture of the physical check through email. I tried to tell her I don't feel comfortable giving that information and that I only accept payment through PayPal and got mad. Also, the formatting for the example scam on your video was EXACTLY what happened to me.
I recently got a comment asking if I do commissions and was asked to message them. I found that extremely odd and ignored it, but after watching this video I chwcked the account and it's new with only two posts on it 😅. Social anxiety for the win 🤣🤣🤣
This is one of the scams my Mom told me about and why she had always told me to wait for the check to clear from the bank before doing anything with the money.
I don't accept their price... I always name my own with 50% up front before any art is sent, and I will look into the legitimacy of the check they send...That's usually when I never hear from them again!

But the minute I insist that I don't want to be paid through a check, and preferred PayPal, Cashapp, or Zelle, they stopped messaging. 😢 Oh, well. At least I didn't get my money or art stolen.🤷🏾♀️😮💨
I ALMOST got art scammed out of 3000 dollars and i’m 15 My bank found out, it was my exhaustion that made me fall for it and made me really slow to not do it :(
I saw someone on Deviant was trying to charge around like $400/500$ for comic book panels I sent a person like 120$ for a commission and it turned out very nice but haven't finished it though plus the person was repeating the same thing over and over again
@@kar1r1guzo0ra7 If the check was already deposited into your account, don’t touch the funds. The check will bounce and the funds will be taken from your account. Some banks will restrict your account. You can always call your bank to see if they have any suggestions or to make sure they don’t restrict your acc. If you already sent the scammers the “extra money” back, depending on how you sent it you might be able to put a claim on it. Can’t guarantee you’ll get the money back though. I know Zelle makes it like impossible to get money back.

Assuming you still do art I only just got notified of your channel again after years. I mean 160k subs but only 1.4k views and 20 comments?
