its just my opinion, but the game will improve by a lot if the main theme was replaced with something more calm and less horror in feel, thats why Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and Uninvited was so creepy

This game is terrifyingly diverse like Capcoms Sweet Home , Univited and The Horror Of Salazar House . It’s animation is beautifully chilling.
But the options select is kinda uncomfortable,like they should remove other options if it's not available
When the music fades out in the crane room and she describes the air being stifling, that gave me genuine chills

I sure do hope that this adventure is continued. I hope that they do not leave us hanging.
I am starting to enjoy games that put you in a haunted Japanese house that is filled with malevolent spirits.

This is basically the Japanese horror version of an old DOS game I remembered called Last Half of Darkness. Used to play it on my dad's 286 when I was a kid. Pretty much the same vibes.

Yup, MacVenture games had the most Western appeal on the NES as far as adventure games go. In Japan they had a lot of murder mystery games instead, they even had JP exclusive Sherlock Holmes games.

I like this game.
I knew you're gonna have a hard time when I saw the flies flying to form a forcefield.
I was already interested in this game after only seeing a few seconds of it. Love this kind of game. Played "The Horror of Salazar House" not too long ago and it was great, this game kinda reminds me of it.

Shoulda seen what could happen in Uninvited with the Spider, or if you use an Ax on yourself. The flies thing is perfectly in vibe with this old style of game.

Though I thumbed this up, eesh, I can still imagine plenty of trouble in nightmares similar to this game. But me being Christian (or at least I hope and ask that I am,) I sometimes pray in-dream and then I end up being fine and safe from nightmare terrors. It's pretty great whenever I do that, if I find myself there.

OOH! Another Uninvited throwback! One thing I love about Uninvited is how if you fuck up, they really go into depth about how you die. And they can be pretty snarky about it. Ignore the insistence that you shouldn't go down into the basement? Giant spider fangs crush you! Eat the wrong fruit? Rot away into dust! And it also teaches you valuable lessons, like don't play with knives you dummy! Of course, there's not much in this one, but just like From Beyond Prologue, what is shown makes me hopeful for the full release.
Don't forget the Scarlet O Hara Demon in the hallway

We need more Icom MacVenture point and click games! I remember few years ago, someone made a pretty good Shadowgate type of game set in Lovecraft universe as a "Prequel" to one of his short story. I think I even exchanged comment with him in a youtube channel about some advice for improving his game.
Stay tuned...I'm working with Zojoi, the original creators of Shadowgate/Uninvited/Deja Vu...I'll just say....something's about to be announced in a few weeks.

I really like the developers of this game so I hope they make a lot of changes to the UI so the top right quadrant actually takes up the whole screen. 75% of the stuff on the screen isn't relevant (like having the inventory up all the time and the action buttons in the bottom right instead of hotkeys) for most of the gameplay and it detracts heavily from where the art direction is focused.
are... are you really missing the point that hard?
@@freezingcathedral I get it's supposed to be an NES style game but imo the overcommitance to adhering to the original console's style detracts from the gameplay experience
While I don't think they should change the game's UI because it is definitely inspired by the Kemco adventure games where the UI is always visible, I do think they need to increase the size of the fonts in the menu because there is a lot of wasted space in the menus that should be more legible. They could make the actual graphics in the box a little bit bigger too but that's nitpicking, but the size of the font should be increased.

This game kind of reminds me of manic mansion, because of the eerie atmosphere.
Same cross-like fadeouts like the RESCUE Embassy Mission interiors on NES.
And Shadowgate/Deja Vu/Uninvited which this game is styled after, also Kemco games.

@@enduser8410 They didn't include the top stroke of 「え」, making it appear as 「ス」. If I may nitpick further, all characters in the prompt are rendered in a way that is indicative of little to no Japanese language experience, due to poor compositional balance and no regard for tome/hane/harai.
The real horror story is the UI. Weird how the nameless "friend" is constantly referred to in the plural.
Also has a Lords of Doom vibe to it. Loved the music! Great understanding of how to create a sense of dread instead of tension: slow, steady baseline, a few dead notes and reverb! I would've shit my pants playing this as a kid!! :D
Also, who says "they" when talking about their friend?! lol
