That stove is absolutely beautiful! When I was a kid mom had a stove the same except the glass doors , bless her heart 13 kids 4 bedroom house, lots of bunk beds and fresh bread and tea every morning ❤ She would have our boots and coats all around the stove warming before we left for school
That's amazing. My grandmother had a stove similar to this one, and everything tasted better cooked over the woodstove or oven. Constant heat is the key. No drop in temperature makes everything taste better when cooking.
Oh my goodness you made me laugh soooo much when you filled your pot with water!!! Wood stove running in July! What would you do without your mudder eh? Trust me you never want to know(I had to learn it a couple years ago and I miss mine dearly every single day but the beautiful thing I can still hear all her lovely reminders like hold the railing when going down the stairs) You will have to start your own recipe book so you will know how many boxes of macaroni to use next time. ❤️🥰🍁🙏🏻🇨🇦 btw I’ve never seen Mac and cheese made like that before. The way I do it is to make a white sauce with a roux and then melt all the cheese that I shred in it and then mix that with the noodles and then add layers of cheese in between.
showed up in my feed. My Gramma was a LeGrow from Bauline, born around 1900, left in the 20's, never naturalized, died a British subject. She always complained the stores were cutting too much fat off the meat, lol. Grampa was another LeGrow from St. Johns, lol. They were very involved in raising me, I never realized just how much Newfoundland culture is part of who I am. I'm making this tonight! A lot of dairy farms here, so cheese can be an adventure in itself! Gonna make of your other dishes I see on the channel. Oh, yeah, that stove! Thanks! Bill, central NY
That is a really cool story Bill, and thank you for taking the time to tell it, we appreciate it, and we're glad your now part of our community. I hope we're able to bring more of our traditions to you and your able to experience it with us through our content
Just found your show, can’t say how much I love it. I visited your lovely Provence two years ago and would love to come back. Such wonderful people and scenery. Also the food! Thank you for your show!
Oh my goodness!! Yummy 😋 this is absolutely one of my favorite dishes homemade mac and cheese! You'll never go back to box mac and cheese once you've had homemade ever! 👍Awesome job👍
Born and raised on Ontario. Grew up on all these great dishes. Brings back lots of memories of Mom whos no longer with us. Subscribed and shared this channel! Love to Newfoundland from Ontario ❤
Haha! Tell mom, “Work smarter not harder!”😂 Your recipe is very similar to mine and I agree with the Carnation milk being the best! Make a small batch of macaroni salad with the remaining pasta?
Love this. I make mac/cheese in a large cast skillet in my electric oven, the crust in cast is amazing for cheese. I also add that we save our bacon grease and use it like you did with the avocado oil.) Loving your "Man Shack" and that wood stove!!! Your Mom should be very proud of you!
That is an amazing batch of mac and cheese!!! Kudos from a fellow mac and cheese maker... I live in the Pacific Northwest so always use Tillamook Cheddar!!! Bon apetit
The more I use this stove the more I love it. I'm finalizing an edit today, a full video of us making Jiggs' dinner. That video should be out next Wednesday.
I don't complain about the heat too much because our winters are long, cold and stormy. Saying that, when it's too hot, there's very little that can be done outside, unless it's just enjoying the beach
@@NewfieLifestyle I love your videos I heard you say the stove was hot but I pulled your leg I'm having Sunday supper.... salt beef. I could not find I'll have to do with corned beef brisket instead
Maybe 25 to 30$ lots of cheese thats the expensive part ..the old folks probably made much less with bread to fill ya, I remember potatoes being common ,homemade French fries with a gravy ,it was when apparently there was nothing else left but so flippin good! It can't be repeated without the fat used and the wood stove

Loved "got the stove on in July, living on the crazy side". You're sweating in July and I'm cold! Nice Ep mate!

The more I use the stove the more I love it
What brand and model is it??
Haha! Tell mom, “Work smarter not harder!”😂 Your recipe is very similar to mine and I agree with the Carnation milk being the best! Make a small batch of macaroni salad with the remaining pasta?
That's the exact same way I cook, with my taste budes and heart
Can’t go wrong with Mac & cheese homemade :))
Wow looks delicious!
I have never been able to make Mac and Cheese. Maybe I should try your recipe. 🤔

Great Job Jim! You will have lots of couldins to enjoy!
Couldins are the best 😆
Hi, one cup of raw macaroni equals two cups of cooked, if that helps, love your stove, and the macaroni looks yummy too
That stove is amazing. The more I use it, the more I love it. Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.
looks sooooo good ... I probably would have added some bacon!
Omg bacon 🥓 now that's definitely got me drooling 🤤
Bacon goes with everything 😋
Omg, I am pregnant and apple crisp is my current craving!
I'm going to be doing a video of apple Crisp this week, and it will be posted in a week or two.
Bet you're not feeding that to your chickens lol, looks really good!!! And your stove is astonishing
The stove is amazing, I love it the more I use it.
hey you guy bravo !
That is an amazing batch of mac and cheese!!! Kudos from a fellow mac and cheese maker... I live in the Pacific Northwest so always use Tillamook Cheddar!!! Bon apetit
Thank you! I'm glad to have you supporting the channel.
I makes it the same way, except i whisk a couple of eggs in with my milk before i pour the milk in 😁
Maybe your mom has an excellent recipe for boiled raisin cake for a Christmas episode maybe
She does! That's what dad always wants as a birthday cake is mom's boiled raisin cake. We will definitely have to do that in December.
@@NewfieLifestyle awesome
Looks delicious, I add bacon and cook my Mac and cheese on a smoker , it adds a really nice flavour
Now that sounds amazing 🤩
That’s how my grandma and my mom made it out here in BC, too. There’s no such thing as too much macaroni. 😂
Hahaha, that's amazing that your family made it the same way.
Kind of funny when you said it’s hot hot hot but yet you had another sticker to the fire to make it even hotter
Man I love that stove. That Mac and cheese 🧀 looked absolutely delicious and cruested over on top like that had me drooling 🤤
The more I use this stove the more I love it. I'm finalizing an edit today, a full video of us making Jiggs' dinner. That video should be out next Wednesday.
Been watching your channel lots of comments on your stove your channel is great too just wondering how long you had your stove
You should package it and sell it all over the land.
Not the way we did it, but appreciate the canned milk. Good amount of cheese. Hello from a very hot Oregon US. 100+ for 4 days. Too early.
I don't complain about the heat too much because our winters are long, cold and stormy. Saying that, when it's too hot, there's very little that can be done outside, unless it's just enjoying the beach
Do you ever salt your water for the pasta ?
Sometimes. It depends what I'm making. If the ingredients have a high sodium content, I usually don't add salt
is the stove hot?
Very hot
@@NewfieLifestyle I love your videos I heard you say the stove was hot but I pulled your leg I'm having Sunday supper.... salt beef. I could not find I'll have to do with corned beef brisket instead
Is canned milk condensed?
yes
You can give chickens cooked pasta
That's great, because I always cook too much pasta.
That's called heart attack mac!
I always pour molasses on top.....don't laugh try it
Molasses is a great ingredient so it should taste really good.
Where is your mother?
A lot of cheese
Super expensive, you must be wealthy.
Maybe 25 to 30$ lots of cheese thats the expensive part ..the old folks probably made much less with bread to fill ya, I remember potatoes being common ,homemade French fries with a gravy ,it was when apparently there was nothing else left but so flippin good! I wait til those big blocks go on sale for half price.
Wealthy... not even close. I work 6-7 days a week 8-12hrs a day. We today's cost of living it's hard to get by on just a 40 hour week.
Love your style bud! Where I live that cheese woulda cost about 40bucks. Looks delicious but I couldn't afford it.
To to the point now, I only buy it when it's on sale. The blocks are smaller, so one block is no longer enough. It's crazy
