When Miranda stopped at the title screen, it physically hurt me 😭😭. You’re supposed to keep running for the cinematic effect
One of the most impressive and cinematic intros in gaming history to me. And the beauty suckerpunch managed to make in their world design is nothing short of breathtaking at times, it made me stop and just stare in silence multiple times during my first playthrough.
I love Khotun Khan as an antagonist. Historically accurate (Mongols did thoroughly study the people they wanted to conquer) and therefore frightening. He basically exploits the samurai's greatest weaknesses: predictability and stubbornness. A perfect villain for the story this game wants to tell.
except at this time there were warriors not samurais, the island of Tsushima was a homebase for Japanese pirates known as the wokou. Confucian ethics were adopted much later, so there was no code of honor. pirates would be the opposite of predictable and stubborn. this game is known to be a fantasy.

@@tjgamer9713 samurai were an official title for aristocrats that served the emperor, not in the military. the samurai code developed much later in history. the armor, samurai sword and all the gun powder weapons all existed much later in history. calling these warriors samurai modeled after the warriors of the 1600s would provide a false picture. thus they are warriors under the shogun.
@@hzhang1228 The Mongol invasion of Japan is one of the earliest use of gunpowder in war outside China, so there were gunpowder use during the invasion. And if this game take place during the Shogunate (I thing Kamakura shogunate), then the samurai would serve the Shogun. The Emperor during the shogunate would be nothing more than honorary title and the Imperial court's power and influence would be severely restricted to only managing the ceremonial and religious concerns of Japan from the Imperial Palace in Kyoto. The Shogun is the one with real power and military, and thus have samurai serving under him.
Not sure about the samurai code though.
@@voratittchunharuckchot9711 the gunpowder weapons were used by the Yuan, not by the samurai, usage by samurai was well over a century or two later, we are talking about samurais here not Yuan soldiers. i brought up the point about the samurai were imperial servants to address the samurai existed but were very different throughout history. the game portrayed samurai warriors of the 16th century, ones that pop culture most commonly choose. but the ones here did not have the samurai sword, did not have gunpowder weapons, the armor, nor the samurai code of honor, which was based on neo Confucianism and popularized in the Edo period much much later.
I’m literally on my fourth play through and I still got chills watching the opening scene!

I would say it’s the second most beautiful game. The first being Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The scenery is much more beautiful and varied in that game
I love that you stop and take your time to read the lore. Hearing you read it out loud actually makes me pay more attention to it compared to reading it quietly in my own playthrough, so if you ask me, please do keep reading various bits and pieces of lore to us whenever you find it! ❤
I played GOT a couple years ago going in with no expectations and was blown away. One of my top 3 games of all time easily. So good.
Yeah, the base game and the Iki Island dlc blew me away as well. I can't wait to see what sucker punch can do with a ps5 only sequel.

This is the first game I ever platinumed on my PS4 and when I played the DLC on PS5 I bawled my eyes out at how amazing it looked I'm not exaggerating. I witnessed the tree arches in real life!! It honestly felt TOO unreal, my dad even slowed down the car so the family could appreciate it longer.
Loving seeing people's reactions to the titled opening credits part in this has I think it's the best opening credits I have seen in any game

If you noticed at 1:04:21 when you got to the title screen Jin was running his hand through the flowers as a means of making a promise to his land and home that he WILL save it and protect it from the Mongols

I remember playing this game when it came out for PS4, I was completely blown away by how beautiful and immersive the world is, how smooth the combat and how rich the story was. Honestly so much to love about this game !
As a Military History geek, I was sold on the Story itself. But the DETAILS of ANIMATION and THE SCRIPT are on a whole other level, which made the experience that much more EPIC.
The script so far is AMAZING
This really is one of my favorite story games I’ve ever played right next to the Spider-Man games and the walking dead. So glad your playing it
This is one of the few games where even the side quest stories are good too.
Also as for the armor, the helmets and face masks are purely cosmetic. Armor itself is where stats come from.
I say this a lot during my playthrough! The side quests feel like they have weight to it... no fetching!

Btw to your point at 1:24:06, there’s a setting (might be on by default) to make it not show masks in cutscenes

Hell yeah! When i saw the notification i literally stopped doing what i was doing and i came here. Anyway, quick tip about the exploration: if u explore too much, you'll may end near certain locations where will appear a message saying that the mongols are too strong or something like that. Basically you have to do the main missions until you go over that area, then you'll be able to continue your exploration in peace.
I love seeing someone else play this game. This is one of the few games to ever come out that i wanted to do everything possible. It made it into my list of favorite games of all time. You're going to love it.
Watching you play reminded me not just how incredibly beautiful this game is, but also how finessed each element is, from the menu/map to the wind to everything. I played the hell out of this when it came out and couldn't get enough.

I played this game a few months ago. And let me tell you, I have not enjoyed a game this much in SO LONG. This was a glorious, amazing, and such a unique game. You are gonna LOVE it!!
The amount of excitement and awe for video games in general- let alone masterpieces like this one- is something to behold. It is beautiful to see someone appreciate the art and take in the emotions and embrace a story the way that you do.

I'll just say this once and be done with it. I felt like my experience with this game from a storytelling perspective was almost perfect. The game is almost like split into 3 parts. I would suggest finishing all character and mythic tales in each part before moving onto the next (you'll get what I mean as you continue/may already be way passed this and know exactly what I mean). And the DLC I think could fit in two ways. Either after the main story like a ton of us had to do who played this at release or shortly after. Or before starting the final part would also be a good time.
Tried to be as vague as possible to keep you as much in the dark as can be. Of course by no means would I try to direct or tell you how to play. Just offering up a suggestion based on my experience and wanting others to have as good a time as I had and get the most out of it.
finally! dreamed of the day you would play this game! every side quest is as well done as the main ones. different from other games of the genre that usually put side missions just to increase the size of the game. I'm sure you'll like it. I was one of the first, if not the first, to ask you to play Ghost of Tsushima on your channel. I'm glad that day has come.

English is the Original for this game the japanese is the dub that is why it fits perfectly with the mouth movements

There's so much to ay about this game but I was specifically waiting for your reaction to the title screen because it is a brilliant transition into the open world!

This is one of my favorite games ever. As far as sadness/emotional, it's not bad for the most part but there's a few spots that can get you for sure. Excited to see the play through
Love love love this is your next game. The more you keep at it you can do some awesome moves in combat. When you perfect parry you stun them similar to breaking their stance. They are hard to learn the right timing on but when you do it is so satisfying. I'd recommend hold your block as much as possible when you face tougher enemies until you learn their habbits.
Definitely one of my top 10 of all time games… Looking forward to watching you play it! 👍🏻👍🏻

This game is a soul crusher. In a multitude of ways. It is just so stunning. Everything is presented in an absolutely breathtaking way. AND THE MUSIC. Omg the music makes it so much more driving. When I have a really bad day and just need a good hard cry I just boot up the game, get on my horse and run through the island of Tsushima and listen to the music. Always makes me sob. It's just freeing somehow. I was really annoyed when this game lost game of the year, but the winner was also a stellar game so it was all kinda bittersweet, but I will always say this game deserved it more
Tsushima is so much better IMO.
This is my favorite video games ever. Nothing has come close to beating it since it came out. I’m currently replaying it for the 10th time right now

Quick tip; you can adjust your camera rotation speed on the settings. I set that to the maximum speed so that you can look around quickly when surrounded by multiple foes in a fight.

Been following since your Hogwarts play through. Trying to catch up on your Spider-Man 2018 run. Watched through Miles Morales though. Can’t say how excited you are starting this. This isn’t my favorite of all time but it’s up there. Played through this game twice already and it’s so beautiful.
This is also a very long game and one of the larger open world games.

This game has managed to bring up the “picture” of samurai japan on how I imagined it when i was a wee little kid hearing stories and reading books about it.
And so begins Miranda's journey in to one of the greatest games ever. Absolutely going to enjoy this phenomenal playthrough. Stay amazing my queen of mischief.

14:40 "how emotional is this game." I would say a 9/10. I got really into the story. I cried about 4 times. 3 for sadness and 1 for overjoy.
Spoilers for cries:
- When Taka gets decapitated
- When our best companion gets killed
- When I'm forced to fight uncle. I literally spent 2mins parrying and saying "plz stop i don't want to do this"
- The overjoy one was when you first get your Ghost Stance power up. That whole scene was incredible. FOR YARIKAWA!!!
This is one of the greatest intros I have ever seen. You're going to have a lot of fun with this one. Not to mention the amount of time I have put into the online mode is crazy.
This game is phenomenal and I love it!! The combat is amazing and smooth, the scenery is beautiful and the story keeps your attention. There is so much to do without it being repetitive and I just really love the different sword stances and combinations while fighting. Throw in some stellar stealth and this is easily in my top 3 favorite games ever!
Yes!! So exited you are playing this title. After you were done with the Spider-"men" games I wondered what would be next. This game is amazing, and simply gorgeous. Also relatively easy to Platinum should you be so inclined.
after killing the enemies, swipe right on the touchpad to perform a cool sheathing animation. Its addicting and I do it every time.

The standoffs at the beginning of a fight get more complex as you level up, allowing you to take out multiple attackers, but it takes a little while to get there
This game has one of, if not THE, best photo modes of any game ever made. I think we would LOVE to see what creative shots you might be able to come up with. Don't forget to look at Kurosawa!

The opening sequence is amazing! I love this game but I had to take a break as there was so much to do it was overwhelming, but think I'll now go back to it!
This game is absolutely in my top 5-10 of all time. The story, the visuals, the mechanics are just so well thought out.
52:00 That's some great representation there,the sky surrounding Jin with nothing else is a great way to say he's just one mere samurai against an empire of incredible might,the entrance to Castle Kaneda where the Khan stands is a good representation of what he is to Jin at this moment, an army that appears unbeatable
just play it on ps5 few days ago, still can't imagine how gorgeous this game is!
