many years ago I bought the D20 and used it to grind the entire US air Techtree, its my favorite plane to fly and farm with because the SL you get is amazing plus the bomb loadout for cas, i like that its getting lower BRs because people dont learn how to fly it because it is a monster.
It cannot turn (except at high speeds; have fun burning all your speed tho), it cannot climb, and its rudder locks up at high speeds. A high-speed plane that cannot dive on people effectively because of rudder lock. The BF109s you face will out climb you, and out dogfight you in the vertical. Every game, you're going to have to side climb to do anything, and have fun with that! You're entire team will be dead by that time because most USA players try to turn fight against zeros, spitfires, and Yaks at LOW ALTITUDE. Your team will be mowing the lawn while you suffer in the side climb.
on the topic of the pilot snipe thing, I think you gotta consider the pilot a part of the plane, the most vital one at that. if it gets hit, your plane can't fly anymore so i dont think its accurate to say the plane could fly perfectly fine when its most vital component was completely destroyed
If you got shot you already rolled a dice on instantly dying, pilot snipe is exactly the same as getting your wing shot off or engine killed, you are basically dead already. Unironically air fighting is about not getting shot at all.

I so love the magic pilot snipe when the rounds barely hit your tail , on multiple of your vids, and even 7mm guns can deal with light pillboxes , though can take a good bit of ammo with smaller caliber, I-153 fire rate shreds light pillboxes
99% of my games in this pos mustang facing 4.7-5.0 and by the time i reach about 6k ft half the other team is already diving on me. and more than half my team is dead. idk how youtubers seem to always get the like easiest lobbies ever compared to me.
This Mustang isn't good. Content creators like this guy don't know jack squat about this game, and just cherry pick lucky games. The D-20 is bad in WT because the airframe needs you to go fast to have any sort of handling, but the engine can't output enough power to maintain the high speed. The result is that you just bleed all of your speed in one turn, and you die trying to accelerate. Also, the rudder locks uo at very high speeds, making diving on people very difficult. The P51C-10 performs better, and has a lower BR. This plane sucks.
I'm not as seasoned in War Thunder as you but I like the shooting out the pilot factor(except when my pilot gets shot out of course 😂😜). In a lot of sports and games there is a weak spot like an "Achilles Heel" or the "golden snitch" in Harry Potter. Some airplanes protect the pilot better than others and when evading shots you have to turn and face your plane a certain way, considering, which can make dog fights interesting. You can risk showing your pilot and turning into them or show them your belly, if you have seat armor, and try to loop all the way around back to them
In relation to pilot sniping, it is very annoying but at the same time I feel like not having it would actually be even more annoying, because imagine you line up a perfect shot directly into an enemy's cockpit and he's just completely fine. Not to mention without it a lot of aircraft would lose significant advantages they had IRL in terms of pilot protection but retain the disadvantage of the added weight from the bulletproof glass, armor panels, etc which would make fast turning fragile planes like the A6M or Spitfire even more frustrating to fight. Additionally it would make center of mass shots significantly less useful because apart from the engine, pilot, and controls the center of most planes is mainly empty space. It would make hitting the fuselage of most aircraft anywhere behind the engine block completely useless unless you got incredibly lucky and cut their tail controls or had enough firepower to fully cut their tail loose.
The P51 C10 has better flight performance and a lower battle rating. Even with 2 less .50 cals it’s better for its BR than the D5 and D2” (which are identical in game)
As a new player, the ability to shoot out a pilot is quite annoying. You finally get into a dog fight to get more experience as a pilot, but then you get hit by one lucky bullet, and you have to restart. I get the realism behind the mechanic, however it is still frustrating
@@elkrumb9159 I get what u mean, when you get urself in a sticky situation, it makes sense to get punished, however it is still possible to get out of, but the chance for comeback is low. I know it’s a learning curve, but the frustration of dying to one bullet, and not getting the chance to do a comeback, is still quite annoying.

I agree on your with pilot sniping, just like I think being penned by a 57mm aphe in the cupola shouldn't crew kill a heavy tank. Realism or not, we are wayyyyy more accurate with mouse aim than any of these vehicles ever were. We make crazy one hit drop shots from defilade that are very unrealistic. Some concessions being made for gameplay's sake are okay.

Nice flying! This makes sense tbh, I think they balance around ground and in that type of situation it can be not really better than a lot of the things that slid down to 3.0-ish with 6 50s. I am not sure what has been up with 109 players but they just dominate in RB CAS, 190 players as well. I agree the random pilot snipes are way too accurate and often, catching stray rounds. Just bad for gameplay. I think it was probably this way to get people to invest in their crews vitality perk but it doesn't really matter. There was a time when they brought crew damage back into play making them less able to pull gs and such thereby removing getting one shot but they pulled that out and just set it back to how it was. They have gotten a bit better about plane destruction but it isn't quite where it needs to be. We need to be able to blow up planes. 99% of planes loosely catch fire and fall to ground 90% together. Maybe that could replace that if they just redo the way planes handle damage.
Yeah I mean there are a lot of arguments for and against and I think I'm likely in the minority about the pilot snipes, but I just don't think it's exciting for gameplay. I think it should remain in sim though. Maybe something like this AB: No pilot damage RB: 50% extra survivability SB: Normal pilot survivability

@@Bathi_wt the flaps are strong, use them as an airbrake/lift to get you out of a dive. Shame the bombs are a double drop otherwise it would be quite nice to get a double kill then go hunting other planes/helis. Heck sometimes I just know a game is lost from my first death and I spend the rest of the game in my Swift going after helis and other planes.
After flying US for a while now, its true that tracers do light up their engines and fuel tanks. However, I would only recommend that ammo type to help players visually make sense of where they need to point their guns. I personally play only with the Universal belt now, because not only does it have tracers for setting them on fire, it clips wings off left and right, dismantles tails and it destroys essential flight mechanisms like anything you would need for turning a plane away from that one single tree on an empty field
I bought the American premium packs during the D-day sale and hopped in that P-51. I'm trash at dogfigting, absolute garbage. I'm getting 2 kills a game in this thing lol and I barely get 1 kill every other game in spaded Bf 109s and Fw 190s.

No shot, the D-20 and the D-5 are the worst variants, but the D-10 being lowered too is questionable considering it's as demonic as the C-10 (or more at least).
That thing deserved a BR increase up to 4.7 and it would still be completely competitive even against 5.7 planes, yet it was busting at 4.3 and now it has absolutely zero reason to be at 4.0. Just think about it, what is a Fw190A1 supposed to do against it?
Before they bring the P51D5 and D20 to 4.7 they should allow us to have a minimum fuel go as low as 18-20 minutes cause 30 minutes fuel is borderline heavy fighter minimum fuel

The D5 should stay at 4.0 tho, it honestly deserves it because of how weak the engine is. The difference between D5 and D20 is really that big.
The D5 and D20 have the same engine power, it’s just the airframe that’s different. The D10 at 4.3 has 150 more horsepower than both of those, which is only around 50 less than the D30. So basically they should keep the D5 at 4.0, move the D20 back up to 4.3 alongside the D10 and give it the same power which it had in real life (which they said they’d do ages ago and never did lol). At least then it wouldn’t be hideously illogical. Realistically speaking, the later war D mustangs like the D10 and D20 should have performance that would put them around 5.0 or 5.3, and the D30’s performance should put it at about 5.7. Mustang flight models have pretty much always underperformed in War Thunder when compared to their real life counterparts. It’s pretty obvious when you use DCS or IL-2 as comparisons, as DCS in particular according to people who really know what they’re talking about has the most accurate P-51 flight model in any video game, and you can often find D10s D15s and D20s fighting 190 Ds on completely equal footing in those games, which of course in War Thunder 190 Ds are rated 5.0 (and should probably still be 5.3 lol but that’s debatable).
@@sirsporty6556 History is completely discarded when comparing planes in War Thunder lmao, put a D5 against a D20 and you will see how the D5 can barely do a full vertical loop and not even two in a row, losing to any 190, while the D20 can keep up with 109s up to the G series in terms of energy retention. And the D30 can fight totally on pair with a 109K4 despite being 0.7 lower BR so every single P51 (except the D5) is just too op against the competition, yet Gaijin doesn't care because all they see is the goddamn awful win-rate that USA players have in general, so they keep compensating their lack of skills with even lower BRs while doing the exact opposite for German and Italy vehicles.
@@Santi-bt7if Lol yeah I’m well aware of the trend that War Thunder has to make certain things realistic and other things very much not. A great example of both would be the early Spitfire’s inability to pull negative Gs due to the carburettor, which is very well known and is like that in the game, but then the Zero can pull about 12 or 13 Gs at like 430mph which would rip its wings due to G overload in real life, which is also very well known but isn’t like that in the game lol. All I mean is that it would be so easy to just move the D20 back up to 4.3 and give it the same engine as the D10 which they planned on doing anyway, but it looks like that’s not happening haha. If I was wishing for some proper realism, I’d say that the P-51C and D5 should go up to 4.3 and have better performance and pretty much equal performance as there were very little differences between them. Then the D10 and D20 should probably both be around 5.0 and have way better performance that’s closer to a Ki-84, and the D30 should be rated like 5.7 or 6 or something and be insanely more powerful. And yes, even the H should probably be better than it is in game.
I feel that the last big update or at least in the past 6 months pilotsnipes have become more common and fires more survivable, even fuel fires that don't have extinguishers. Maybe it's just my own conspiracy but I hate pilotsnipes.
@@concon3217 it only changes once the player leaves the match. Sometimes people are waiting for buddies to finish and stay to spectate how the match goes. I'd say you can tell based off their deaths, but sometimes people can crash land on airfields and "die" but still repair and get back up into the fight.
nah WeBe you have it completely wrong and backwards about the Pilot snipes. Pilot is dead, can't control plane any more. The only caveat I would entertain is allowing multicrew planes to replace the pilot with a gunner. Maybe even have their flight performance be reduced, such as being shakey on the stick for large bombers. The battle we need to fight is about getting kicked out of controls for "Plane burnt down", when the Pilot is alive, guns work, and at least one control surface is still functional.
I really wish they’d just give the P-51 D20 the same engine as the D10, which would be historically accurate (and they planned on doing ages ago and just never did), and move it back up to 4.3. But no, they had to do the lazy thing and move it down to 4.0. Hopefully they’ll remember they said they’d give it the correct engine power at some point lol.

This. Right here shows the r weakness of Gaijin’s statistics only balancing. Lots of flyers into WW2, particularly Americans buy the premium D-20 and D-10. Yes, it requires a bit of thought to fly to its strengths, but when you do that, it could hold its own at a full uptier of 5.3. 4.0? I’m seriously thinking of coming back to War Thunder just to play the Mustang at 4.0. And maybe even 3.0! It’s gonna feast at the new BR, for those who’ve leaned BnZ at least!

I dont see anything wrong with pilot snipes the way they are. What use is your plane without a pilot? Its not as cinematic as getting shot down, but thats expected. Gaijin could make the screen slowly get splattered in blood as your pilot bleeds out, but then they couldnt market the game to 12 year olds could they
that pilot snipe point is kind of ridiculous, the brain of the plane (the pilot) is destroyed. its like saying "headshots are kind of bad because its not hitting the body" its a different kind of skill to hit a pilot vs destroying a large part of the plane. its focusing on long drawn out fights and not getting the job done, imo leads you to having a bad time in higher tiers

The D-10 has 150 more horsepower than the D-20 as it runs higher manifold pressure, so it definitely shouldn’t be 4.0, it’s very good at 4.3. Also historically speaking, D-20 should have the same amount of power as the D-20, but gaijin never buffed it for some reason. So basically they should be be 4.3, but the D-20 should have 150 more horsepower than it does currently.
The p51C-10 is the best fighter at br 4.0 no question about it. Fastest fighter by quite the margin, average rate of climb and turn time. It doesnt have the best guns for its Br but it has enough. I dont mind the br change, i just think its a little too fast. It has rougly a 30kmh edge on every other fast fighter at that br. they should bring that down just a little because unless somebody is instantly on my six i can always get away. This is my experience in air simulator battles atleast, it feels unfair.
The D20-NA has always been bad. It's strong at high altitudes, but can't climb. The airframe is great at high speeds, but the engine is too weak to maintain high speeds when maneouvering. One turn, and all your speed is gone. Terrible low speed handling characteristics, like all mustangs. You need to get fast and high with this plane, but the engine doesn't let you. It's basically a P51C-10 with a worse engine, and two more .50 cals. The P51C-10 goes faster, climbs better, and just works better than this brick. Acceleration is terrible.
I don't see how a .3 BR decrease makes the worst P-51 the best and I aint tryna watch a 20m yap session answer my question. Well it would be the worst if the J26 didn't exist, it's a D20 but with shit belts.

Yeah I mean there are a lot of arguments for and against and I think I'm likely in the minority about the pilot snipes, but I just don't think it's exciting for gameplay. I think it should remain in sim though. Maybe something like this

RB: 50% extra survivability

A36 is overweight and maneuvers like a brick though, and it has very poor high altitude performance, forcing you down low where you can get dived on

@@Bathi_wt the flaps are strong, use them as an airbrake/lift to get you out of a dive. Shame the bombs are a double drop otherwise it would be quite nice to get a double kill then go hunting other planes/helis.
Heck sometimes I just know a game is lost from my first death and I spend the rest of the game in my Swift going after helis and other planes.

I think you should use the tracers cause it puts more people on fire at least in my experience
After flying US for a while now, its true that tracers do light up their engines and fuel tanks. However, I would only recommend that ammo type to help players visually make sense of where they need to point their guns. I personally play only with the Universal belt now, because not only does it have tracers for setting them on fire, it clips wings off left and right, dismantles tails and it destroys essential flight mechanisms like anything you would need for turning a plane away from that one single tree on an empty field

I bought the American premium packs during the D-day sale and hopped in that P-51. I'm trash at dogfigting, absolute garbage. I'm getting 2 kills a game in this thing lol and I barely get 1 kill every other game in spaded Bf 109s and Fw 190s.

No shot, the D-20 and the D-5 are the worst variants, but the D-10 being lowered too is questionable considering it's as demonic as the C-10 (or more at least).
That thing deserved a BR increase up to 4.7 and it would still be completely competitive even against 5.7 planes, yet it was busting at 4.3 and now it has absolutely zero reason to be at 4.0. Just think about it, what is a Fw190A1 supposed to do against it?
Before they bring the P51D5 and D20 to 4.7 they should allow us to have a minimum fuel go as low as 18-20 minutes cause 30 minutes fuel is borderline heavy fighter minimum fuel

The D5 should stay at 4.0 tho, it honestly deserves it because of how weak the engine is. The difference between D5 and D20 is really that big.
The D5 and D20 have the same engine power, it’s just the airframe that’s different. The D10 at 4.3 has 150 more horsepower than both of those, which is only around 50 less than the D30. So basically they should keep the D5 at 4.0, move the D20 back up to 4.3 alongside the D10 and give it the same power which it had in real life (which they said they’d do ages ago and never did lol). At least then it wouldn’t be hideously illogical. Realistically speaking, the later war D mustangs like the D10 and D20 should have performance that would put them around 5.0 or 5.3, and the D30’s performance should put it at about 5.7. Mustang flight models have pretty much always underperformed in War Thunder when compared to their real life counterparts. It’s pretty obvious when you use DCS or IL-2 as comparisons, as DCS in particular according to people who really know what they’re talking about has the most accurate P-51 flight model in any video game, and you can often find D10s D15s and D20s fighting 190 Ds on completely equal footing in those games, which of course in War Thunder 190 Ds are rated 5.0 (and should probably still be 5.3 lol but that’s debatable).
@@sirsporty6556 History is completely discarded when comparing planes in War Thunder lmao, put a D5 against a D20 and you will see how the D5 can barely do a full vertical loop and not even two in a row, losing to any 190, while the D20 can keep up with 109s up to the G series in terms of energy retention. And the D30 can fight totally on pair with a 109K4 despite being 0.7 lower BR so every single P51 (except the D5) is just too op against the competition, yet Gaijin doesn't care because all they see is the goddamn awful win-rate that USA players have in general, so they keep compensating their lack of skills with even lower BRs while doing the exact opposite for German and Italy vehicles.
@@Santi-bt7if Lol yeah I’m well aware of the trend that War Thunder has to make certain things realistic and other things very much not. A great example of both would be the early Spitfire’s inability to pull negative Gs due to the carburettor, which is very well known and is like that in the game, but then the Zero can pull about 12 or 13 Gs at like 430mph which would rip its wings due to G overload in real life, which is also very well known but isn’t like that in the game lol. All I mean is that it would be so easy to just move the D20 back up to 4.3 and give it the same engine as the D10 which they planned on doing anyway, but it looks like that’s not happening haha. If I was wishing for some proper realism, I’d say that the P-51C and D5 should go up to 4.3 and have better performance and pretty much equal performance as there were very little differences between them. Then the D10 and D20 should probably both be around 5.0 and have way better performance that’s closer to a Ki-84, and the D30 should be rated like 5.7 or 6 or something and be insanely more powerful. And yes, even the H should probably be better than it is in game.

I feel that the last big update or at least in the past 6 months pilotsnipes have become more common and fires more survivable, even fuel fires that don't have extinguishers. Maybe it's just my own conspiracy but I hate pilotsnipes.

I'd say you can tell based off their deaths, but sometimes people can crash land on airfields and "die" but still repair and get back up into the fight.
nah WeBe you have it completely wrong and backwards about the Pilot snipes. Pilot is dead, can't control plane any more. The only caveat I would entertain is allowing multicrew planes to replace the pilot with a gunner. Maybe even have their flight performance be reduced, such as being shakey on the stick for large bombers.
The battle we need to fight is about getting kicked out of controls for "Plane burnt down", when the Pilot is alive, guns work, and at least one control surface is still functional.
C10 is still better than d20 - less dogsheeet rudder, elevators, better energy retention

I really wish they’d just give the P-51 D20 the same engine as the D10, which would be historically accurate (and they planned on doing ages ago and just never did), and move it back up to 4.3. But no, they had to do the lazy thing and move it down to 4.0. Hopefully they’ll remember they said they’d give it the correct engine power at some point lol.

This. Right here shows the r weakness of Gaijin’s statistics only balancing. Lots of flyers into WW2, particularly Americans buy the premium D-20 and D-10. Yes, it requires a bit of thought to fly to its strengths, but when you do that, it could hold its own at a full uptier of 5.3.

The D-10 has 150 more horsepower than the D-20 as it runs higher manifold pressure, so it definitely shouldn’t be 4.0, it’s very good at 4.3. Also historically speaking, D-20 should have the same amount of power as the D-20, but gaijin never buffed it for some reason. So basically they should be be 4.3, but the D-20 should have 150 more horsepower than it does currently.

The p51C-10 is the best fighter at br 4.0 no question about it. Fastest fighter by quite the margin, average rate of climb and turn time. It doesnt have the best guns for its Br but it has enough. I dont mind the br change, i just think its a little too fast. It has rougly a 30kmh edge on every other fast fighter at that br. they should bring that down just a little because unless somebody is instantly on my six i can always get away. This is my experience in air simulator battles atleast, it feels unfair.

The D20-NA has always been bad. It's strong at high altitudes, but can't climb. The airframe is great at high speeds, but the engine is too weak to maintain high speeds when maneouvering. One turn, and all your speed is gone. Terrible low speed handling characteristics, like all mustangs.
You need to get fast and high with this plane, but the engine doesn't let you. It's basically a P51C-10 with a worse engine, and two more .50 cals. The P51C-10 goes faster, climbs better, and just works better than this brick. Acceleration is terrible.
I don't see how a .3 BR decrease makes the worst P-51 the best and I aint tryna watch a 20m yap session answer my question. Well it would be the worst if the J26 didn't exist, it's a D20 but with shit belts.
