Happened to see this scene on TV several decades ago.Her lively song made me happy, remained in my heart. Wished to see again and Appeared here. My longing finally filled. Thanks a lot.

One early set of lyrics was about a guy losing a friend by ignoring her while he flirted with another gal, another lyric was about a woman berating a man for coming on to her in the street. These lyrics are mostly adapted from the Versos Sencillos of Jose Marti, a 19th century Cuban poet/intellectual/activist: Yo soy un hombre sincero de donde crece la palma, y antes de morirme quiero echar mis versos del alma. (I'm an honest man from where the palm grows, and before dying I want to cast forth my poems of the soul.) Mi verso es de un verde claro, y de un carmine encendido. Mi verso es un ciervo herido que busca en el monte amparo. (My verse is of a bright green, and of a flaming crimson. My verse is a wounded fawn that searches in the high mountain.) Con Los pobres de la tierra quiero mi suerte echar, y el arroyo de la Sierra me complace mas que el mar. (With the poor of the earth I want to cast my fate, and the little water canyon of the high mountain range gives me peace more than the ocean.) These verses became popular among English speakers in the USA during the 1960s when Americans expressed solidarity with Cubans and protested the shitty behavior of the American, Cuban, and Soviet Russian governments. I've never heard Ms Velez's last verse before, but people keep continuing to write this song. Yeah Guajira can be a farmer woman from Cuba or a Country song from Cuba. Guantanamera references Guantanamo. It's 125 years later, and Jose Marti's voice is still calls us to treat each other more lovingly.

1990年夏の湘南エリア限定で
Sagami Urban Resort Festival In 90
(通称 : SURF90) と言うイベントが行われていた。
そこで一夏限定、藤沢のとあるビルからの発信で「JOWS FM」と言うラジオが流れてた。
そのラジオ局のトラフィックインフォメーションに用いられた曲がこの楽曲だった。
湘南の海岸に抱くイメージとぴったりマッチしていたので、今でも忘れられない曲だ。
リスナーの一人でした（笑）
あの空気感は今は絶対に出せないでしょうね。SURF90-FM。ずっと聞いてました。
Guantaramera の後、9月に入って交通情報のBGMが変わったのですが、あの曲も大好きでした。
当時、電話で聞いてセルジオ・メンデスの曲と言ってたのですが、どう探しても見当たらない。
またこの曲、当時大好きだった「夢で逢えたら」のエンディングにも使われてました。
